Sorry, bw.  Not good enough.

Run those marching bands off.  They can use the soccer fired or baseball field.

Saturday football in Whitewater is too valuable a commodity to compromise.

There, all better. Anything else I can solve for anybody?

Oh wise one: Why are teachers wasting tax dollars by calling in sick to protest in Madison  :-

Sorry...wrong board for that ...i know.
This is a complicated issue with huge implications for everyone who lives in WI.

got that right
You seem to be implying that the fact that I don't live in the state means that it is none of my business.  My future daughter-in-law teaches and my son coaches and sub-teaches in Janesville.  I'm guessing the outcome of this bill hits a lot closer to home regarding my family than it does yours, but I could be wrong.   I very much have an opinion, an interest and a stake in the outcome. Hope that explains why I couldn't let a swipe at the teachers go unchallenged.   But the real point that we both agree on is that................this is the wrong board for this discussion.

There is a good reason that we are playing a Friday night game.  The state marching band competition is held at Perkins Stadium on the third Saturday in October every year.
Is there tailgating?   ;)

You're right 02, this is not the board for drive by shots fired at just one occupation of the many effected.  This is a complicated issue with huge implications for everyone who lives in WI.  Let's keep it about football.....................

...or that other "F" word - FIREWORKS!!!!  ;)  :D

A visual preview of the third Friday in October at Perkins Stadium:

An audio preview of the third Friday in October at Perkins Stadium:

"Ooh Ahh" (repeat many times)

I have heard through the grapevine that one of the marching bands plans to march to the 1812 Overture in honor of the fireworks the night before. "Sounds" like a very nice touch!!  ;)

I think that there are going to be some changes in the tailgating.  I know that there were discussions regarding it during this past season.   Apparently the police have expressed a safety concern because tailgating, fires etc., have been happening in the more remote lots and they don't have the personnel to keep track of it.  They're probably just talking about tailgates that are cooking food though that's probably most of them.  It may be restricted to certain lots next year.

My wife is a teacher and the proposed changes would cost us roughly $8000 annually.  Fortunately she has 30+ years in and was planning on retiring next year.  If the bill goes through she'll retire now instead.   If passed, and I don't see how it won't be, you'll see a significant increase in the number of educators who retire this year.

Well, when the rest of us are coughing up bucks for insurance (apparently inferior insurance when compared to teachers), with no indications of free pensions, it is awful hard to swallow govt employees getting that.

Let me just say I think the world of you guys - but fair is fair .....
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

And right there summed up nicely in the previous two posts is the Republican plan of action.  Divide the middle class, let them fight amongst themselves and weaken their voice. Allow corporations to conquer with no resistance. Mission soon to be accomplished.

This is my first and last political post.

Exactly!  Too bad it is your last cuz it is such a damn good one!  ;)   The rich get richer, corporations and big money gets more and more powerful as the middle/working class fight amongst each other for the crumbs.  Just amazing to me how people are more outraged by what a government worker/teacher/nurse makes than tax cuts given to corporations and billionaires the likes of the Koch Brothers, etc.   ???  Have we not learned anything from the last few years?  It really doesn't trickle down, Folks!  Sorry, I've probably said too much.  You guys are my buddies and I respect all your opinions.

I'll try and follow your lead, JB, and make this my last one, too...

Long as they don't take my spot!   ;D  Do you think they are mostly concerned with the fire pits that appear, (thank goodness,) during the colder months?  I can see that becoming a concern for them.  Always kind of wondered about it but nothing was ever said about one that I was around.

I put the following on my facebook page, and I think it applies here also.

Everyone has an opinion on the budget crisis. I respect those different than mine, and I expect the same in return. Let's all do what we think is right, and let it shake out as it may, and leave facebook for fun, not politics. The category of the people who read and react to our posts is FRIENDS

+ karma.  Puts my posts to shame, JF.  I apologize to all for being hypocritical and continuing to post non-football related posts.

KS, got my UWW championship apparel on Friday so you should be getting yours if you haven't already.   Love the "National Champions," with the THREE years listed.  Just think the 2007 year should be the one that appears in the center, slightly larger.................  ;) :D ;D

Sorry, but I have to at least contribute the following to the political posting.
First, let me say I am in favor of teachers making a solid living including benefits, so don't take my post to be anti-teacher.

An underlying problem in this country's dialogue is the use by so many people of "talking points" of the political parties.  "Tax breaks for billionaires and corporations" is an example.

The next time you're driving down Main street to see your next UWW game, take a look at all the businesses on both sides of the street.  They are all Corporations too- they are the small businesses formed by regular people, who oftentimes have given every penny they have to make it work.  They have taken the risk, and they share their reward with us by employing people- and paying taxes.  I can care less if Walmart gets a tax break, but I care a whole lot when small businesses can't thrive due to taxation and regulatory burden.  I've owned a small business, and I know the burden all too well.  These Corporations aren't your enemy and they don't deserve to  be Deamonized, which is exactly what the Talking Points do.

There is room for all to prosper in this nation, but as long as people continue to use the Talking Points put forth by politicans, you will only contribute to the class warfare, you won't help end it.
