02 Warhawk,

Going into spring drills, which QB will really have the edge for UWW for the fall, IYO?

Raider 68- I'm curious what prompted this question- are you wondering if there is a debate as to Brekke or Blanchard due to the playoff run?  As good a job as Brekke did in the playoffs, Blanchard was by far the #1 qb.  Had Blanchard been healthy for the Stagg, you would have seen one heck of an athlete and Qb.  The UWW situation isn't like UMU where it seems there was considerable debate as to which of your two QB's should be the #1.

Does anyone know when the D III schools announce their recruiting class?  I've heard some good things about UWW and I'm anxious to see the complete list.

You'll be frustrated emma17.  WHITEWATER will not announce a recruiting class in the sense that they'll publish a list.  They just don't do it.

emma17,

In the case of UWW, you have a #1 QB in Blanchard who lead the team during the  season and Brekke who was vey efficient during the playoffs.

For Mount Union, Seaman would have been the starter for the title game has he not suffered a leg injury in the semi-finals. The debate rose, since Piloto is a big strong QB with a cannon arm, while Seman is very efficent and a good decision maker.

As spring drills begin Blanchard, will probably be the number#1, but how close is Brekke now to the challenge given what he did during the playoffs, hence the question ? :)

I'm sure most of you DIII football fans have heard that McMurray University football is moving from DII to DIII. Looks like their changes don't stop there, as they are also searching for a new nickname as well.

The three finalists are as followed: Bison, Circuit Riders and War Hawks

No joke...and it's spelled that way too.

Oops, your right, my typo...I meant to put "moving from DIII to DII"

That's McMurry, and they're moving FROM d3 TO d2.  Despite their longstanding 'Indians' nickname (agreed to by all relevant tribes/nations), the 'powers-that-be' have decreed that they must change their 'logo'.

It probably locks him in at the #2 spot going into preseason, but Blanchard is still the man.

emma17

68- I think 02 said it right, Brekke's performance last year locks him at #2. In addition, it showed just how good/smart/athletic Blanchard is and why he is the unquestioned #1. Here's the difference, think Micheli or Seaman/Pilotto- would either of the latter challenged Micheli for the #1?
And no, I'm not saying Blanchard is as good as Micheli, but he is that much better than his backups.

emma17,

His brother Derek Blanchard was one Mount's best OL! Runs in the family! :)

Interesting news that might have a bearing on DIII schools in the area - University of Nebraska-Omaha AD Trev Alberts has announced that the university is dropping football (& wrestling) with their plan to moving their entire athletic program to DI (hockey is already DI in the WCHA). Football is described as a $$$ drain on their athletic budget. Wrestling has 6 NCAA DII championships in the last 8 years.  Pretty drastic changes going on there.  :o :o

Warhawk 96

I'm knocking on wood as I speak but I'm glad that we have the problem that we have at QB this year. I'm very excited to see what this year's Warhawk team will look like. I wonder how many transfers we will get from UNO? I know that theres been plenty of coaching talent going between the two schools. I hope they send some athletes our way as well.

Although not from UNO, I recently heard of a QB that is transfering from NIU.  I hope we get some receivers to add to the mix.

CSIII ran a 4.53 at the combine.  But I think he was still recovering from a hamstring injury he got at the Shrine Bowl.

MTU is hosting a Pro day on 3/16/11, we'll see what Shorts runs then.

Shorts was a Top Performer at WR for these "events" at the Combine:
Bench:  21 Reps - 3rd
3 Cone:  6.50 - 4th
20 Yard Shuffle:  4.07 - 5th

Other Results (from NFLdraftscout.com):
40 Yard Dash:  4.50
20 Yard Dash:  2.54
10 Yard Dash:  1.59
Vert:  34 1/2"
Broad:  9'6"

40 Yard Dash before Combine: 4.34 - 4.43 - 4.54

According to a league Source, Cecil Ran a 4.34 and a 4.41 40 at his Pro Day:

Stop the presses, Dad...your source said he ran 4.35, not 4.34. Didn't think anybody would check, did you?  ;)
A 40 yard sprint between CSIII and Lane Olson would be basically a dead heat. Who'd a thought that was possible?
