I thought that was going to be a great game for most of the 1st quarter... then Warhawks kicked into gear. I haven't seen the Franklin offense look that bad in quite some time. Last time we were held to single digits scoring was 2004... not sure how far back for the last time we were shut out.
Hope all the UWW fans enjoyed the Hoosier hospitality.

Nearly forgot, Platteville 26-3 over Point with 6 minutes lest...that definately will shake things up a bit!!

Points points came on a 51 yard FG; UWP also kicked a 45 yd FG.  :)

To everyone who thought that NCC's performance in last years playoffs might indicate a closing of the gap with the two purple powers and everyone else, I think NCC loss last week and Wesley's loss today only widens the gap.

Ya know, after watching UW-W dominate and then the end of the Wesley game. I thought the same thing. I have watched football too long to pronounce any Stagg Bowl match-ups the second week of the season.  But if ALL teams remain healthy, which of course I pray they do, I honest to goodness am not sure who the top 4 or 5 candidates would be to unseat the purple powers.  Has UMHB improved enough offensively to step it up? Has Hardin-Simmons leap-frogged them? Could Bethel without Flannery or Wheaton without Roberts possibly have jumped up enough to threaten UW-W or Mount? Can St. Thomas develop far enough to bust things up after beating St. Norbert by only 13 in the opener? Another WIAC team? Could North Central bounce all the way back? Of course all these teams COULD be in the Stagg Bowl. I'm not looking for this post or conversation to be disrespectful to any school. I guess my question is this:  What teams are HONESTLY PLAUSIBLE possibilities as Stagg Bowl participants?

There's just way too much season to be played for me to bite on that one bp.  I guess I've been hanging around the WARHAWK staff too long and I respect each opponent and take it one game at a time.   That and I tend to be a bit of a worrier.

First congrats to Franklin.  Great D-III atmosphere. Wonderful tailgating. Very friendly fans. I wish them much success the rest of their conference season.  Now from a UWW fan perspective it was an very solid performance.  Kudos to the defense for the shut-out and for keeping Franklin off balance.  Very solid offensive performance.  Red-zone scoring much better this week.  Big step from week one.

emma17,

Your Titans are a solid team and QB Wara may be one of the best in the WIAC after watching him today. A few turnovers and some key plays for Mount could have made the game closer. Having played an extra game sure does help in the process! :)

I know. I'm definitely not a worrier. And truthfully, if I were on staff I wouldn't ever breathe those words or even be thinking that way. But, since the staff and players DEFINITELY take one game at a time, I don't have to!  ;)

With the way UMHB is playing it looks like they've fallen as well whether they win or lose....

Brian Carroll

UWL gave UMHB all it could handle, but fell short by a score of 27-20. Mike Butterfield threw 3 td passes, as the Eagles showed far more offense than last week. A good effort against a top ten team.

Watched the game on my computer ......Franklin announcers were very good and could not have been more complimentary to the Warhawks. Defense solid and the Oline took over the game in the second quarter and pushed Franklin all over the field.....Just watched replay of Osh Kosh vs. MUC....Osh Kosh QB played well and score could have been a lot closer.....Osh Kosh could be a tough game......

Not sure how to read that Eau Claire game today. Both teams had a game under their belt, so I would imagine they were both better than they performed last week. But, they just embarrass SJU at home today after losing to Bethel (TN) on the road last week.  Bethel gets blasted by North Central after they lost to Redlands last week.  Wish Redlands didn't play bye week today. Maybe this is a good example that comparing scores so early in the season can be worthless as jack.  ;)

This from Captain Obvious,

Turnovers will kill you - 2 lost fumbles, 2 picks; Mount - zero turnovers.

Hard to win without creating turnovers and making your opponent pay for it. Nor will you win without a strong defense.  Both boil down to the same thing. Oshkosh has to improve on defense to improve as a team to become a contender, IMO.

Warhawk Dad you should be especially proud today.  The offensive line and Tamsett played a great game, opening huge holes.  The defense was lights out and still played a bunch of kids.

Bleed, as to your question on who can challenge, obviously it's early yet so time will tell.  I did go to the NCC game- which was a last minute decision after I saw the Eau Claire score on St. Johns, it made me very curious to see Bethel, TN against NCC.  I don't know anything about Redlands, but NCC didn't look like a team that took a step back tonight.  They have speed and talent all over the field and if they play the rest of the season as they did tonight, I don't see any reason they shouldn't be considered one of the strong possibilities.  Hardin Simmons is making an early case for consideration as well- beating two good teams.

The WIAC is really showing well in the early season, this should be an interesting season for sure.
