Watched the game on my computer ......Franklin announcers were very good and could not have been more complimentary to the Warhawks. Defense solid and the Oline took over the game in the second quarter and pushed Franklin all over the field.....Just watched replay of Osh Kosh vs. MUC....Osh Kosh QB played well and score could have been a lot closer.....Osh Kosh could be a tough game......

This from Captain Obvious,

Turnovers will kill you - 2 lost fumbles, 2 picks; Mount - zero turnovers.

Hard to win without creating turnovers and making your opponent pay for it. Nor will you win without a strong defense.  Both boil down to the same thing. Oshkosh has to improve on defense to improve as a team to become a contender, IMO.

Oshkosh hater.

Emma-O, I mean Emma17,

I am not an Oshkosh hater, which must mean they really haven't arrived quite yet. Because when they arrive, I will be!  :)

(Truthfully, I will never be an Oshkosh hater. Former Coach Russ Young was my dad's former roommate and a great friend. Some of my best WIAC (WSUC then) memories were at the kitchen table listening to dad and Russ talk football and tell hilarious stories. Russ was one of the nicest and funniest men I ever met in my life!)

Hey Bleed, just for the record I was teasing Bobo, not you with my Oshkosh hater post.

As we enter week 3 I took a look at the Campbellsville website and see they are 2-0- having beat two NAIA ranked teams.  It looks like they have been successful through the air. With scholarship athletes, this should prove to be quite a test for our secondary- and one that I am eager to see.

The other intersting item will be the new Top 25 list- will there be big moves in rankings?

They seem to be better then last year, and their recievers were fast but their lines will probably be overmatched again and it won't matter too much. Last year was 37-7 I suspect a similar score, honestly.

I enterd this season with extreme caution as a fan of UWW, I didn't know what to expect. I, just like BW, was worried about the game as well. I feel I can breath a little easier now after games one and two. I was very impressed with the way whitewater played on both sides of the ball yesterday. It was typical UWW football: dominate the line of scrimmage, force turnovers, then finish drives by punching it into the endzone.

I too really enjoyed the Franklin announcers as I watched via my computer. They were a lot better than previous road announcers that I listened to. However, as UWW extended its lead late in the second, they started to make the "typical" comments about how Whitewater (and other WIAC schools) has privileges that other DIII schools don't. Such as being in a state that doesn't offer DII football, and that Madison is the only other school to offer a football program outside the WIAC. Then they mentioned that the WIAC is public schools so they are easier to get into and so on.....Basically the same old stuff we ususally get on these boards. Oh well, I guess it comes with the territory.  :)

I had intended to put this out yesterday, but forgot.  I thought it was interesting that after the Franklin game, the Franklin broadcast showed LL addressing the entire Franklin team in kind of a post games pep talk. What do you think he was saying? Does LL do this, or does the opponent coach ask LL to do this, regularly? I've never really seen this before but, coach seems to have a lot of respect for the Franklin coach in his comments I've heard. Would this sort of thing happen at La Crosse or Stevens Point? lol  ;D

I just thought it was a classy thing to do, thats all!!  :)

Third quarter on my birthday against Stout with 5:25 left in the quarter!  ;D

I'd have to say that Platteville and Stevens Point are tied for the most surprising start of any WIAC school, IMO. I still can't get over that UWSP has only scored 11 points in 2 games.  And Platteville, winning big on the road in Point while holding the Pointers to only 3 points, is a real stunner.  Going to make the pickem's just that much harder.

New D3football.com Top 25 has hit the street - while UWW is the only WIAC in the first group of 25, remaining at #1, five others are receiving votes, led by Platteville (12 votes) and includes, in order, Eau Claire (8), La Crosse & Oshkosh (5), and Stout (1).  Things are shaping up to look like a very competitive conference season in a couple weeks.

To my knowledge this isn't a regular thing at all.  Actually I've never known it to happen before.  Also  I kind of doubt Lance would have done it if not asked to by the Franklin coach.  I don't know that for a fact however.  What I do know is that the two coaches have developed a genuine respect for one another and their programs during the brief time they have competed against one another.

Regarding Platteville I just had a feeling going into the season that they might put a very competitive team on the field this year.  I think Anderson is an outstanding quarterback.  It's early yet and I just didn't trust it enough to commit. That was my bad this week.
