I wish you would have added a section on receivers.  From my weeks one and two personal on-site observations, the chemistry between Blanchard and the receivers will need to continue to develop throughout the season.   With both Rusch and Brandes completing eligibility, the Warhawks have many different receivers being utilized right now instead of two primary with others filling in depending upon formation.

One piece of good news is there is obviously talent and speed.  The second piece is the utilization of the tight end positon (at least in the first game).   I think with more time the chemistry will occur and the downfield passing game will emerge, which will also serve to open up the run game.

Just my thoughts.

I could see CFL 02, but think one of the indoor leagues is more realistic.

Almost forgot, congrats to UWEC!!!! They went in Collegeville and destroyed St. Johns.

I heard their fans were leaving at the half. Which is really saying something given their strong fan base.

Congrats to them.

Also, props to Platteville going into Point and handling them pretty well. I'm very interested to see what they can do against a Wheaton team that doesn't have it's starting QB.

So far so good for the WIAC.

02- that didn't seem to bother UWW last year. And Wheaton's "backup" just threw for 6 td's to 6 different receivers. Should be a great game in Platteville Saturday.

USee.....you lose your account or something? I'm fairly certain that wasn't your first ever post.

Longtime poster, first time lurker.

Always good to see USee.  We miss him over on the CCIW board.  Definitely one of the most complete posters in the past.

I had intended to put this out yesterday, but forgot.  I thought it was interesting that after the Franklin game, the Franklin broadcast showed LL addressing the entire Franklin team in kind of a post games pep talk. What do you think he was saying? Does LL do this, or does the opponent coach ask LL to do this, regularly? I've never really seen this before but, coach seems to have a lot of respect for the Franklin coach in his comments I've heard. Would this sort of thing happen at La Crosse or Stevens Point? lol  ;D

I just thought it was a classy thing to do, thats all!!  :)

To my knowledge this isn't a regular thing at all.  Actually I've never known it to happen before.  Also  I kind of doubt Lance would have done it if not asked to by the Franklin coach.  I don't know that for a fact however.  What I do know is that the two coaches have developed a genuine respect for one another and their programs during the brief time they have competed against one another.

Regarding Platteville I just had a feeling going into the season that they might put a very competitive team on the field this year.  I think Anderson is an outstanding quarterback.  It's early yet and I just didn't trust it enough to commit. That was my bad this week.

The UWW coach thanked FC for the hospitality and scheduling them.  He also commented that they are a solid football team and best of luck the rest of the season and maybe they would see each other again in the playoffs.  As I understand it he was very sincere and no one took it as condescending.  I can image it is hard for UWW to find non conference opponents with the playoff selection process currently in place. LL is fully aware FC could schedule themselves to 10-0 and a better chance at a home game playoff if they wanted but didn't.

Your are right, Warhawkdad, the receiving corps is definitely an area of intrigue. And there is no shortage of size, speed, talent, and athleticism.  It's probably an area I should have focused on. I kind of cut the article short a bit to work on the Fan Poll. I would expect the deep ball to be incorporated more and more as well. In fact, I would guess we'll see a couple of things on Saturday.

I like Luke Menzel as a player and I haven't watched film to see how the players may have graded out in the Franklin game, but on first glance, I'm not sure he would have been my choice for offensive player of the week.

Agreed.  Two catches for 16 yards. Maybe he had a good blocking day, too. Sounds to me like a case of spreading the wealth.
