I'm a little upset...My Warhawk flag ripped a few days ago. The top eye-hole, that connects to the top of the flag pole, ripped out of the seem. Now, I can't get to the bookstore fast enough to get a new one now. Since I can't make it to tomorrow's game, I'll have to wait till October 1st to hit up the bookstore.

When they won it in 2007 I left it up all winter long....In hindsight, that probably wasn't a smart idea.

Hey, 02 - If you like, I could pick you up a flag tomorrow.

I appreciate it, but I'll just pick one up when I attend the Platteville game. Thanks though!

Anyways, you coming out for that one on 10/1? We are getting there early and smoking a Prime Rib roast, then cutting it up for sandwiches. Like the NCC game last season, you're more than welcome to join us. As long as you bring those good cookies again.  ;)  ;D

That's quite the tempting offer.

I have most definitely planned on being there 10/1, so it sounds like a slam dunk.  Plan on it.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

I'm a little nervous about Campbellsville's 6'4" wide receiver, Stan Warrenhuffman.  Looks like he's a big-time play maker. Hopefully our corners can match up and be physical with him. Like to see Hamilton pop him over the middle....put a little fear in him early  8-).

Their QB looks to be a bit erratic, he's thrown 4 ints already in two games, but has 6 TDs.

My strong guess is that if Warrenhuffman wanders over the middle, he will more than feel Hamilton's presence! That's the best way to make a 6'4" wide receiver play 5'11"!  ;)

^^ Keep that Pulaski article away from the Oshkosh coaching staff at all costs. Considering some of the weird gimmicks they ran the last time I saw them (last year), who knows what they might do.
Personally, I don't dig the philosophy of the Pulaski coach - but you have to give him bonus points for creativity. I like the 11-man rush on the QB. Seems like that could be beaten rather easily, however.

Anyone remember Army's lonesome end, #87? The rules got changed because of it. That was an interesting tactic. Bill Carpenter was even an all-american in 1959, before he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross in Vietnam and retired a lieutenant general.

I wonder how many of those Pulaski Academy kids are going to know how to play special teams when they get to college? Plus who wants to go to a game and watch a whole quarters worth of on-side kicks? I could see some of the formations being copied, but as a philosophy, I don't find it that innovative. My friends and I were doing those kind of things playing in the backyard way before that coach was even born. I wonder what his players think when they watch college or professional games? Looks like they're playing a different game. That's my $.02 for what it's worth.

Too late! they used the on side kick against Mount last weekend. They had just scored in the second quarter to bring them to 17-10 Mount. They did not score off the possesion but it did surprise the Raiders and it was well done. :o

I keep hearing of the gimmick plays that UWO has ran since switching offensive philosophy in 2009 (or was it 2008?)...I saw them play Mount Union in 2010 and Central College this season and I haven't seen a single gimmick play.

What did they run? and truthfully, how many gimmick plays did they actually run?

Against UWW last season:

- Garrie Fox 14 yd pass from Cole Myhra  - Halfback throw for a TD.
- C. McClelland pass complete to Paul Coburn for 33 yards to the UWW6 - End around pass?
- Justin Budiac had consecutive of end around runs - misdirection, rather than a gimmick plays maybe

These were all tried in the first half, which kept the game pretty close (24-14 at the half).

But the second half didn't contain anything that fancy. Just a lot of Wara running and passing for UWO.

There was also that play where Wara was in the shotgun with two backs and a slot receiver just outside the TE. At the snap, the QB, 2 RB's and the slot all met about 7 yards deep and played a game that looked like a combination of hot potato, I got it - you take it, and the shell game. After a second or two of playing their little game, they all went in their own direction, with Wara hiding the ball on his hip. He threw a pass to a different WR.  But still confused over what I had just seen, I don't remember if the pass was completed or not. It was the first time I had ever seen anything quite like it. IMO, it was all smoke and mirrors. The kind of play you drew up in the backyard.

He played last year (5-68) and had a 40 yard TD reception for their first TD just before the half.  Nothing extraordinary when you consider we couldn't play pass defense early last season. This year I think will be better.

After 5 straight "non-home" games (the Stagg Bowl was not exactly an away game, but it was a "non-home" game), plus a long offseason thrown in the mix, it's seemed like FOREVER since there's been a game at the Perk!  Things will finally feel normal again tomorrow!  ;)

bp--Hope you know something I don't:  RF 23-20 over Trine prediction. One thing you don't mention is that Trine may be looking forward to the following week when they  play Adrian, unbeaten so far (grasping at straws here). Other than that, it's tough to beat a good team on the road. One positive:  Matt Walker is a very positive guy who will turn the RF program around eventually. Unfortunately, Klingelhutz, WIAC's k.o. return record holder and all conference player, out vs UST, will not play tomorrow (shoulder), or possibly the rest of the season.

There are some on the MIAA board who are also picking the Falcons.  They are unimpressed with Trine's performance so far this year.

Whitewater, Leipold an unbeatable combination from JSOnline. I guess they have no more recent picture to lead the story than one from the '09 Stagg Bowl.  ???
