BoBo, I saw you were back to #666 before I bumped you up.  How are we ever going to get you off that number when you manage to keep getting dinged!   ;) ;D.

Great article about Coach L, BTW.

What do ya know, set the alarm for 9 and I can't sleep past 7! Been too long (December 4) since I've seen any Warhawk football live, Noon can't come fast enough!  ;D

A little disappointed myself that I can't make the game....So, I'll be sitting by my computer watching the game Bobo style today.

I confess. I saw the conversation and proceeded to ding him back down to 666 just for fun. I've now karmalized to offset the joke. I just couldn't resist...  ;D

There are some on the MIAA board who are also picking the Falcons.  They are unimpressed with Trine's performance so far this year.

While their wins have been a bit underwhelming, I think the fans of Trine are seeing the glass half empty right now.  After graduating Eric Watt, one can understand a bit of an "Uh-oh" hangover.  It is scary for a team that does not have a long winning tradition (Tri-State was terrible prior to making the transition to Trine), let alone any team, to not have a player they have come to depend on. Trine is at the place in their program where they haven't had to replace a top tier player before.  In addition, making that step to a consistent top of the line program has a learning curve from the players right on through the coaches.  I think you're seeing some of that uncertainty as well as their high regards for the WIAC come into play with the predictions of some MIAA fans.  RF could certainly win, but I think it will be a win for the Thunder, especially for them at home.

Ordinarily, a team with 209-56 edge in total yardage at half (156-minus 1 rushing yds) and a 12-4 advantage in first downs would be leading. No so:  Trine 21, RF 3 at half.

RF loses 42-20. Falcons outdo Thunder in all categories except the one that counts. Edwards 34 carries for 240 yds.

Was it turnovers that did them in?

You're right fredfalcon, I just got back from the game here in Angola, IN.  If it wasn't for the big plays, River Falls would have won this game as the final score is misleading.  The first downs were like 28-12 River Falls, as Trine didn't get a first down until midway thru the second quarter.  Trine did have a big drive at the end of the first half to go up 21-3 at half that may have deflated the Falcons.  Other than that UWRF totally dominated us on both sides of the ball in the first half and controlled the clock.  Trine's other first half scores were from a KO return for a touchdown after the Falcons went up 3-0, and then Trine had a fumble recovery for a touchdown when the Trine DB ripped the ball loose from a Falcon after a short pass and scampered around 60 yds for the TD.

Then in the 3rd quarter UWRF had us pinned at our own 5 but we busted one up the middle for a 95 TD that all but sealed this one up.  I have been to all 3 of the Thunder games and UWRF was by far the best team we've played.  That number 25, Taylor Edwards is a beast.  He had quickness plus he can run you over too.  I wish we had him! :)  He probably would have carried 45 times if you guys could have played from in front.  We had no answer for your draw plays and runs up the middle.  Not sure about your passing game, but there really wasn't any reason to pass until we started to puall away as we couldn't stop your run game consistently enough.  The one glaring thing your team lacked was overall team speed.  Trine is much quicker at pretty much every position, but you guys are more "stout".  This is a rebuilding year at Trine as we lost 26 seniors from a team that was undefeated and gave Whitewater a scare in the playoffs last year.

Great game by the Falcons though, good luck with the rest of your season.  By the way, not many made the trek down from Wisconsin, I counted about 30 fans on the UWRF side.  I thought there would be a lot more but I do realize it's a haul to northeast Indiana from upper Wisconsin.  Keep your chins up, you have a classy team.

02 Warhawk

wow...that sucks for UWRF. Sounds like they should have had one this one.

That would have been a very strong (road) win for them, something they are due for.

Man did Whitewater's offense do work on Campbellsville today.

400+ yards....at the half!!

I was a little worried that Coppage didn't start (or play the entire first quarter). UWW announcers where talking about how he was in a boot yesterday. I guess LL just wanted to start Dez to throw C'ville off a little, maybe?

fredfalcon

TUAngola--thanks for the eyewitness appraisal. What u said seemed like the case, but it's not easy to tell by listening. The announcers were good. It seems like our special teams were a weak link today. You're right about our lack of speed. The thirty fans were all parents, probably. 530 miles is just too far to travel.

Our new coach is very upbeat, and will have RF ready for next week's game at Eau Claire.

8PM EDT From the early top 25 finals on d3football.com:

"Top-ranked UW-Whitewater won its 33rd consecutive game, having little trouble with Campbellsville, 54-14. Campbellsville was ranked No. 17 in the NAIA's coaches poll. Levell Coppage and Desmin Ward combined for 209 rushing yards and quarterback Derek Blanchard was out before halftime in the win."

For the second week in a row I thought a team would give UWW a game, and again I was wrong. Campbellsville had the skill position players to play with UWW (boy were they fast) but their lines and game plan were horrible.

If the CU announcers thought the crowd was "really big" they should have seen it last year on family day. :P It was an average crowd of a little over 6,000 that started to leave ASAP after halftime, mostly students that were leaving though.

Good to be back at the Perk today and to see some friends.  UWW simply dominated and the score reflected the game completely.
Master- you said it- the UWW lines were superior in every way.
