Well, I have a busy weekend and you boys have too much fun on here without me!  My ears should have been burning.  LOL. Regarding the dynamics of WIAC board and PP in general,  I want to echo what many of you have said.  I think many of the regular posters here would welcome new blood and while we UWW posters tend to dominate in numbers, IMHO, we are a friendly bunch.  There is a big difference between the, "we are great and will be great forever because we have been great for years," kind of talk and the, "we will be hard to beat and here are some stats that back up my case," talk and I think my guys walk that line pretty well.  I remember when I first started posting here back in 05 and what the interaction was like as a fan of the upstart Warhawks with the Johnnies, Raiders and Cat fans.  Now THAT was intimidating and granted, it got easier as the boys continued to win,  but it took time to get established as a poster.  As one can see from reading the last few pages, I have had a ball meeting and hanging with posters on here and in person and the support my family received when my son was fighting cancer was unbelievable!  Hell, two of  his and my biggest supporters? One is a Cat's fan and the other is a Raider fan!!   So I too, enjoy when posters from other WIAC school join in with great info about their teams. Lord knows, the biggest Titans booster should not be 17, a Warhawk fan!  Just know that it will elicit responses.  If you think Wara  (clearly a terrific GB,) will have a good game against UWW, be prepared to back it up cuz BoBo will be all over it.  He lives for that stuff but that is the fun of it!  We love to talk football, and not just college, (try being a Bears fan on here,).  and sticking around for the long haul, whether your team wins or loses,  is well worth it!

Anybody else just finish watching the Packers/bears?  I gotta tell you, in all my years of watching football, I don't think I've seen a better trick play than the one the Bears almost succeeded in pulling off on that last Packer punt.  What deception. But, leave it to the bears to screw it up by getting a penalty and getting the easy TD called back (thought I really didn't see the holding that was called). Problem for the bears is that play had 1 chance to work and they messed it up. I doubt it can work again. But, whoever drew it up needs to get a raise!!

The best part was that there didn't appear to be any holding on the play.  The officials attributed the infraction to a #29 who was not on the field for the play.  There was a #21 on the field but he never touched anyone so he couldn't have been holding.  From all appearances it was perhaps one of the most blown calls of the season.  And it screwed the bear.  No offense intended to any bear fan but I was ROTFLMAO.

I will admit it was a brillant call and I've never seen a team as confused and faked out as the PACKERS punt coverage team was.  It's hard to believe that Matshay was the only PACKER player that had any clue whatsoever where the ball actually was.  When he kicked it I could see that it was angled to the left so I couldn't figure out why the entire coverage team was on the right side of the field.

I would imagine that the call was to punt the ball to the left sideline and away from Hester. Hester did a great job of moving up and making it seem like he was following the flight of the ball. The first players downfield seeing Hester had to be thinking that SOB Matshay, he kicks it straight down the middle. It was a great call by the Bears, because they had to discern that the Packers would kick to the sideline and predict the correct side. I would like to see what the penalty actually was and how Knox was able to lineup near the sideline without anyone detecting him. The play only works if you punt to the opponents sideline, otherwise sideline personnel should be yelling about Knox.

Well, those stats pretty much tell you what you might expect. But it's not really a good sample. UWW had three realtively easy games - the only real challenge was Franklin. Meanwhile, UWP played and lost to #7 Wheaton.

Sorry but I don't like the Cougar's chances either of the next two weeks 413. Middleton, Verona...it could get pretty ugly.  Though I expect them to finish sub .500 on the season and missing the playoffs I do think they'll get a win in their final game and at least have that to feel better about.
Every loss just seems to be getting harder.  In this case, being 6 seconds from a 4 and 2 record will sit with Coach R for a very long time, I am afraid.  He and the staff are working so hard to turn the program around and some great things are happening but it will take as long as it takes.  It was a highly emotional, back and forth score, the kind of game where it was a shame that either team had to lose but there was no quit in the Cougars, and that is an important step for the program!   You maybe right about the next couple of games but, any given Friday night.......;)

UWL was not an easy game, UWP could have easily lost on Saturday to them, they only lost by 3. Campbellsville was good too, they had the speed to compete, just not the lines.

Pat Coleman will join Gary Douglas and his sidekick Tom Pattison on KOOL 106.5's UW-Whitewater Coaches Radio Show tonight.
It will give us chance to learn more about the move of this December's Stagg Bowl to Friday night and a spot on ESPN U.
Pat will be on immediately following Lance Leipold's regular 6 p.m. segment of the show.

To bad that game was in EC, roocru.  We haven't traveled to away games since #33 finished playing because if it had been in the Perk, you would have had plenty of company and the best Bloody Mary you ever tasted!   ;)

I have made two friendly posts this year. The only response I received was from BoBo on the ASC board.  Last year I was in Wisconsin during the football season and made a special stop to watch the Whitewater/Eau Claire game in Eau Claire.  I posted a few times I was going to be there and would like to sit and visit with some WIAC fans.  I never got a serious response and watched the game from the Whitewater stands by myself.
I enjoy reading the WIAC board and listening to your knowledgeable posts and your banter!  I remember meeting fbfan413 on a Whitewater trip to Texas and seeing some of you posters at the Stagg Bowl (I have been there every year since 2005 except for last year while my grandson was being born).

I guess my only point is that these examples are why there may not be as many outside posters.  Just a thought for you guys and let me emphasize again that I do not want any extra cheese with my whine!  ;) ;D

Best of luck to all the WIAC teams and I hope to see a game between UMHB and any WIAC school this year.  That would mean both of us had advanced pretty far in the playoffs and that is always a good thing!!  ;D

If anyone has some spare time I finally got around to post my first WIAC related post to my blog.

I talked about this week's games, and briefly touched on each team's non-schedule leading up to Saturday.

Enjoy

I would say LaCrosse was a good opponent, albeit the first game of the season.  LaCrosse scored 14 on Platteville, but only managed one touchdown vs Whitewater against 3rd and 4th string defense.  I think the match up is going to be very interesting and will be determined as is typical in the trenches.

If the UWW Offensive Line can protect Blanchard and open holes for Coppage and keep UWP from getting tackles for losses, then it could be a long day for UWP.   I really do not think that UWP can handle the defensive pressure they are going to see from UWW.  If they do, the game could get interesting.

Never saw the play....I turned the game off early in the 3rd quarter. As a bears fan, that game went about as I expected it to.
