Following up on the UWEC @ Stout game "War on 94". Being new at this... I hear mention of a trophy.  Has anyone seen this trophy?  And does said trophy include any of the following: asphalt, an orange construction cone, speed limit or highway sign?  If not it should!   BTW EC by 10.

I have a picture of it up on my blog.

Actually, the 02 Warhawk blog has a picture of some Stout Blue Devils holding up what looks to be an I94 road sign fashioned into a trophy of some sort.  Not sure if it's the official game trophy.

Personally, I think a Jersey Barrier would make a great trophy, as well!! Chances are it will never get stolen & it could be put to use in a parking lot on campus during and after the season.  ;)

I know you (we?) Cheeseheads are strong, but wouldn't an Orange Barrel be easier to hoist?

"Leading the rushing attack is junior Lee Vlasic. Vlasic has averaged 71.5 yards per game rushing, but only 3.2 yards per carry ".  I was at the UWP/UWL game and he was getting hit deep in the backfield the majority of the time, and from talking to UWP fans that has been the case all year, he has had little help from the line and will most likely continue tomorrow.  Judging from UWP last year he is a big play back that can break one at anytime if his line can stop a defensive line surge and help him get to the second level.

This blog photo shows the actual trophy. Now we need one going the other direction with River Falls. The HWY 29 trophy.  ;)

yea, unfortunately the RB is only as good as its offensive line. On the flip side, a good o-line can make an average RB look great.

Any Eau Claire fans think they have a chance to win their first War on 94 trophy this weekend?

I think they have a very good chance to knock off Stout.

Yes, I think UWEC will take this one.  Neu has improved considerably as a qb, and unlike last year his receivers are healthy.  plus with Sweeney and Olson they have a good running game.  Their defense seems better this year also.  EC has done well against St Johns and RF, I expect them to continue.  Barring any unexpected key injuries, I expect them to come out strong.

Not only will the UW-Whitewater football program get national exposure from USA Today but Hawk head coach Lance Leipold was interviewed by Tim Brando on Sporting News Radio Network Thursday morning.  Coach Leipold who listens to the Brando's program in his office (when he can) while working. Lance sent a UWW football helmet to Brando who quickly responded by asking Lance to do a live phone segment on the program.  The segment lasted just under eight minutes.  By the way - Brando did a great job researching the Warhawk football program and the segment was led with the UW-Whitewater fight song.  Good Stuff!!

The Tim Brando Show on Yahoo Sports is available on I-Tunes.

I listened to the interview here:

Brando Show

He's on the 1st hour/1st segment. 9/29/11 - about 15 minutes into the broadcast.

Although in some ways a question mark coming into the season, the defensive line at UW-W has been off to a strong start. I think much still needs to be proven because larger WIAC tests lie ahead.  But if Platteville's line is subpar, tomorrow could potentially be a long day for the Pioneers. Becoming one dimensional is a nightmare against the Warhawks.

Thanks for your response. Do you or any of your UW-P following friends know what's up with Anderson and Blaser.  Are they out for sure tomorrow as the two deep would indicate? Do you know how long they could be out? Many here are expecting/hoping for a nice year for UW-P this year.  Those losses could really hurt in a conference like the WIAC.

I would expect that it is mentioned often when talking to recruits and their family however I know that it isn't mentioned in the locker room week four.
From personal experience when my son was going through the recruitment process, the coaches doing the recruting really do not have to say anything.  It is everywhere.  It is beyond just the banners, signs, etc...... it permeates the atmosphere.  You feel the confidence (not cockiness), pride, and commitment during every visit and every contact.   If you are a high quality football player in high school and somehow you fall between the DI cracks, it is hard not to be totally impressed with the facilities, coaches, teamates and as mentioned above, the overall atmosphere.

P.S.  Really looking forward to tomorrow.   Weather is looking great for tailgating and the game!
