Thanks to everyone for the kind words regarding my "These are the Good Old Days" blog entry.  I appreciate them!

O2 Warhawk, thanks for the research and the info on the nicknames.  Great idea and very fun to read.

I have to say, I have laughed while Perk told the story many times.  Too passive is right! As soon as he arrived the Quaker nickname was dead on arrival!  Whoever submitted the name "Warhawks", I just want to thank you!!
A nice article....and thank you for sharing the link.  It was a fun read.   Allow me a clarification.  Being a Blugold is more than a color chart reference.  To be a Blugold is to recognize ourselves as our school.  What is a Blugold?  I am a Blugold...as is any one of the thousands of students to walk through Schofield Hall...along the banks of the Chippewa...on Wisconsin's most beautiful
campus.  It is a Blugold helping Blugold philosophy that binds us through the years. And thank God we're not the Normalities.  So then, here is to the Blugolds!  Sing it with me....Eau Claire College dear, Hail to thee my alma mater.  Strong through every year, Hail to thee the Blue and
Gold ... U Rah Rah....
Love this post!  + karma, Blugold 89

Love the hard work, 02 and BP.

Thank you for the "good karma".   I'm going to channel that karma to Carson Park.  Ah Homecoming in Eau Claire.  Nothing better in the WIAC.  I mean where else does the parade march down a street as colorful and with as many " tap rooms" as Water Street??? I remember when I was Marching....we didn't have to break formation to grab a beer in one of the historic pubs..,the faithful lining the parade route would personally DELIVER the cool refreshment to our trumpet section. So here then is a toast to the Blugolds and the Titans, may the game be safe and exciting and represent all that is good about football in the WIAC!  And here now the end of our rouser...." Fight Blugolds Fight tonight. For fame and victory!"

Have you met AUPepBand?  You two might have a little something in common.  ;)

Watched a good portion of the UWW/UWP game on FSN North. You guys deserve better camera work. What's with the close in when plays are being run and half the players are out of the frame, or end up running out of the frame? Somebody get those techs on the ball ( or maybe more off the ball).
The Communication Department runs the broadcast, retagent, from the commentators to the camera work, I believe.  Not going to be ESPN quality camera work but that isn't the point really although we, football fans, would love it if it was.

The Communication Dept?  Isn't the game on FSN North broadcast by We WEre Young Productions...the same outfit who does all the HS playoff games for all the sports and is supposed to be a professional organization?  I BELIEVE this is the same outfit that broadcasts the state high school basketball tourney from Kohl Center and they do a good job.  Or are we talking about two different things?  I didn't catch the broadcast, but if it was done by WWY, I would expect better quality.

This is my understanding of how the broadcast works.  I assumed that what was re-broadcast on FSN North was the schools version but I could be wrong.  I don't get FSN North so rarely have I seen those games.  Maybe they do their own coverage of the game at the same time as the one that the students do,  Someone else here probably knows the answer better than I do.  BW??

My son is participating again this year in the, "Movember," Men's health and cancer awareness drive next month.    http://us.movember.com/about/

"During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men's faces, in the US and around the world. With their "Mo's", these men raise vital funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate, testicular cancer and other cancers that affect men."

He considers it a wonderful opportunity to pay forward all the incredible support he received when he was fighting TC in 2009 and everyone who followed his football career know that he has never shied away from facial hair!   ;D

He and his team will be raising money specifically for Fertile Hope, a program that is connected to Lance Armstrong's LIVESTRONG organization that helps TC patients with possible fertility issues resulting from their cancer treatment.

Here is the link to his page to donate.  You can chose to donate to his team or in his name only but either way, all the money raised is donated to Fertile Hope.   Thanks, 413.

The FSN broadcast was done by We Were Young Productions.  Other than accomodating them the university was uninvolved.

That and the color analyst kept saying "coach Leipold (Lee-a-pold)," but I would assume Lance gets that a lot.

I bet he was thinking of Aldo Leopold (Lee-a-pold), the UW-Madison professor, environmentalist  and founder of the science of wildlife management. He is best known for his 1949 book A Sand County Almanac. The book was published a year after his death. Was the color analyst Bill Brophy?  He was the Madison sports anchor who I believe now does work for FSN. He's not always accurate in his reporting, IMO.

Thanks, BW.  Broke my rule by stepping out on that limb without being really sure of my facts. In my defense, I did follow up my original comment about the student broadcast with, I believe,"   ;)  So retagent and fballfan were right.    We do deserve better camera work!   :D

Yes, I would expect better camera work.  WWY is a professional outfit.  Can't remember the details, but *I believe* they were involved in a lawsuit for exclusive coverage of the WIAA state championships.  Let's see how they do this week.

badgerwarhawk

Actually it was the Post-Crescent of Appleton, Garnett Co. Inc and the Wisconsin Newspaper Association that was involved in litigation with the WIAA.  WWY wasn't involved.

Sorry 413 don't mean to be a DebbyDowner.  Nothing would please me more than to wake up Saturday morning and learn that the Cougars put a beat down on Verona.   Well, honestly, there are a few things that would please me more but seeing a Cougars' win would put a smile on my face.  I do think they'll win next week.

OK - but doesn't WWY do the filming for WIAA?  That all rings a bell.
