For those of you not at the game, River Falls was stacking 8 in the box and moving linebackets and safeties all around.  Heard from three different UWW offensive players that UWRF had not played that defense all year.  AS far as the UWW defense goes, the starting defense was dominant.  The only touchdown UWRF had was from a fumbled punt.

Frankly I think we are all a little spoiled in terms of our expectations.  All I can say is that we got a 32 point win and got out of River Falls without any injuries.

2013  WIAC PICKEM CHAMPION

"Pound The Rock!!!"

Beyond Prime

Well, I just broke my rule about coming back to this board. Maybe I'll post once a year like another poster that tried to explain to everyone why no one out side of WW comes on this board. I wasn't planning on replying again until I saw this on the WIAC in-game updates board from MasterJedi:

QuoteMaybe they should say that they're sorry that Taylor Edwards plays at UWRF instead of any other UW school, he's wasting his talents when he could probably be putting up big numbers and winning somewhere else.

My jaw dropped to the floor. I guess this group stooped to an all time low by making a comment like that. While this is one person's comment, it seems to summarize the WW group on here of looking down their nose at the rest of the teams in the conference.

To you MasterJedi, why not post your name on the site if you want to personally bash a young man that did nothing wrong to you other than transfer to another school. Who knows his reason for doing so, but for you to rip him for it really shows your character. Are you so stuck on WW that you would personally rip a fine young man from the Whitewater area (Janesville)? Apparently.

There are some on this board that are better than others, but I think you all need to take a closer look at who it typing on your end when you can't figure out why no one wants to come on this board. Talk about being full of yourselves. I am glad to say that your players and coaches act much better and represent your program than you do. I believe River Falls gave WW much more of a game than they thought they would get today. When done, they were very gracious and had good things to say about the River Fall's team, as did the River Falls team back to them. How about showing some of the same on the board and maybe you will get people to give you a little more respect and come on here to carry on good equal conversations.

WW fans only need to look as far as to what is happening with St. John's right now on their board. People that were tired of the bashing for a long time seem to be taking joy in doing the same back. Enjoy the ride while you can and great job today by the WW players and coaches. They played a good game.

Hard not to agree with Beyond Prime.  Taylor Edwards is a class athlete and he is not the first, nor will he be the last to change schools for reasons that are important only to them.

UWW has benefitted immensely from transfers into our program and should exhibit class regarding those who transfer out.

Just my 2 cents.

Well obviously Beyond Prime had no idea what I was saying. Of course I think Taylor Edwards is a class athlete and a really good player. I will stand by what I said, as far as football goes he could be doing better at any other program in the WIAC or other conference, mostly because it doesn't seem that UWRF wants to invest the effort to turn around its football program. Every other program with the exceptions of UWW and possibly UWP would probably give anything to have a RB with his talents. That's why I would like to see him playing somewhere else, so I could see him winning rather than rushing 13 times for 0 yards (or whatever the stat turned out to be in the end). Absolutly nothing I said was a rip against him.  ::)

EDIT: I respect the players and coaches at UWRF, just not the administration since they don't seem to want to do anything to help bring the program back.

UW-W fans (including me) probably ARE a little spoiled by the Warhawks' success.  But...

I'm not sure anyone is disappointed in this win.  If anyone IS disappointed with a 32 point conference win, yes I would have to say he/she is VERY spoiled!

But if you are drawing the "spoiled" thought from some of the comments on the "WIAC In-game updates board", I am not sure I draw the same conclusion.  When you can't go to the game, it can be fun to banter with other fans following it on live stats or radio or video.  Just like some in-game comments in the stadium can seem harsh or reactive or over-the-top, I see it all as fans getting out their nervous energy.  When your QB is sacked or pressured, I think statements like, "The line needs to tighten up" is fair commentary between fans processing the game.

Thanks for the report from the game.  When a team puts 8 in the box, they will undoubtedly create pressure and should have success stopping the run.  You have to make them pay through the air.  That seems to be exactly what the Hawks did today.  301 yards passing, 458 total yards, and 35 points is excellent by ANY measure.  And allowing 6 yards rushing in 26 attempts is ridiculous.  Allowing  163 total yards is excellent defense.

Good job Hawks!

He did all right tonight:
18 catches, 259 yards, 2 TD, 1 pick on defense.

From everything I understand about the young man off the field as well, I think he would make a great Gagliardi Award candidate.

Master Jedi--what do you really know about the RF program? Answer: nothing. Taylor Edwards transferred, according to Coach Matt Walker, because Edwards could not make the squad at WW as a freshman. Walker, the newly hired RF coach (an example of what the administration is doing to improve the program), is a guy who beat out the son of the Mount Union coach, AND the coach selected at UW Lacrosse, AND Kevin Bullis of WW and RF, PLUS two other highly qualified candidates.Taylor's  way under average performance today was a tribute to the defense of WW, vastly under-rated and publicized. The D line of WW, for the most part, obviously had their way with the O line of RF. Few backs can run if the holes are not there.

Maybe you should ask Taylor Edwards whether he would be "better off" playing somewhere else. I doubt whether he, or anybody else, cares what you think about it.

Beyond Prime, I get what you are saying. Fred Falcon, +k to both of you guys. WDad as well. The WW folks on here are for the most part real good at being out front. But for Jedi to say that because of his talent a young man should be at another school is truly out in space. The force is not with you brother.

I posted several days ago that yes, we all respect what the Warhawks have accomplished. But also, don't take away any respect from the other teams. I attend some Devil practices. I know how hard they work. I know the coaches and do know and have known many of the players, and I know how hard they work and worked. These people are everything WW brings to the table.

To basically say that some player should be at another school and not UWRF because of his talent is a$$inine.

I've been watching Ohio State/Nebraska (27-13 currently) and I don't think I've ever heard a color analyst rip on college players they way he does. He also praises, but he heavily favors the criticism.

Nebraska just scored and is coming back...

Listening to the EC vs Oshkosh game it was clearly a game of two halves.  While the
Titans did forge back in the second, the fumble by the Blugolds at the end of the first clearly hurt.  This Blugold team has been so determined this year.  They are a multi faceted team.  Oshkosh's QB came on in the second....and it's clear he's an amazing athlete.  However the single mindedness of the Titan offense is predictable. Yes hard to stop.  But predictable.  then again you cannot argue against their win.  I think there is still plenty of game left in the Blugolds. And this was an exciting game right up to the last tick of the clock.  My hat's off to Austin Neu he gave it his all today. Congrats to Oshkosh.

It was one heck of a game.  The missed point and the fumble by Sweeney at the goal line before the half....different ending.  Neu threw up not once but several times.  Lots of "ews" in the crowd.   ;D  Wonder if that will be on the broadcast?  :P  Tough guy.  Wara seemed to come out running more in the second half, and Oshkosh got some nice runs from one of their backs.  Wara is good - plays with confidence. But I think EC defense did a nice job holding him down.  Never a dull moment.  Neu didn't seem to connect with his receivers as well as he usually does, seemed  off today.  Stomach problems??

I can only speak for myself but I wasn't disappointed with the WARHAWKS play today.  It would have been nice to play error free football but the fact of the matter is despite making mistakes we dominated.  River Falls played hard and gave it their best effort but it wasn't their day.

I don't know Taylor Edwards or the reason he chose to leave for River Falls.  He certainly isn't the first player to leave a program and he won't be the last.  Whatever his reasons the fact remains that he is still at River Falls.  Perhaps others think he should have gone somewhere else but it seems pretty obvious that he thinks he is right where he belongs.  Good for him and good luck to River Falls.

Nice summaries by the Blugold fans - good to see some new, fresh insights here...

I, too, listened to the game; I, too, felt like ralphing towards the end of the game, due to the way it turned out...  ;)

Credit is due to Oshkosh - seems like the 'Golds outplayed them and dominated the first half, but the fumble on the last play was a big momentum swing, and a big turnaround, as it could have been a 23-9 Blugold lead, vs. 16-9...

Then Oshkosh came out and took over the second half behind their QB, Wara, who reminds this fan of another QB who gave Packer fans fits in the 1970s- Fran Tarkenton...Man, I hate QBs who can run and scramble when they play against my favorite teams!  ;)

Maybe the student-athlete Taylor Edwards will get a better education at UWRF?
