For the past few weeks, I've been working on a piece for my blog about WIAC football and why they are considered the best of the best. I FINALLY finished it today, and posted it for anyone interested to read.

I'm sorry if it's so long. I thought about breaking it up into two parts, but I decided to just post the whole thing.

Let me know what you think, or if you have any thing to add. There's a couple of points I wanted to touch on, but I didn't get around to it b/c it got too long on me. I'm hoping this sums up our conference correctly.

Thanks!

Great job 02- I appreciate the time and effort you put into the article.  I love the links too, this is the first time I've looked at the DIII map- suprising.
Thanks again.

I appreciate it WarhawkDad and emma...Thanks

I sent an email to asking every SID, head coach and athletic director in the WIAC about the topic....only coach Miech responded. I wish I would have gotten a little more opinions to include, but oh well.

Bobo-Are you angry with me?  I feel your posts are a bit on the harsh side.  Since you and a couple others seem to be arguing points I am not making, I'll have to again take responsibility for poorly articulating my opinion.

And Bobo- you know nothing of my sister's love or knowledge of football.  Like most fans of the game, she appreciates a contest where the outcome is in question- her self esteem isn't so low that she gets an ego boost watching her team romp another.

Retagent said it best:  "To say that it would be better for the greater number of people to have a certain event happen, is not the same thing as saying that you "hope" that event happens.  I really don't quite get the uproar about an innocuous comment made by someone who is on your side."

emma17 & the board - sorry for the tone of those posts you speak of (a couple have since been removed). I have no squabbles with you. I apologize for coming across like a nincompoop. None of my comments were born out of anger.  :-[

But please, oh please, I beg you, don't ever again say "retagent said it best:"  We must mute that kind of talk once and for all.  It's hard enough to live with him now; if he thinks, some of us think, he knows best - we might all end up doing this to him:

Bleed purple...I like the predictions, thanks as always for sharing.   But you are  too conservative with the Oshkosh pick.   UWP by a larger margin.  EC D backs showed how to cover downfield to earn sacks.... Platteville will add to that effort this weekend by stopping Wara at the line with that fake handoff.  As for EC...statistically it should be EC, but LAX makes me nervous.   I'll be at that game enjoying the bluffs, and hopefully a beautiful fall view and victory.

Blugold - agree with you on all points.  If Platteville is healthy, I expect them to come on strong.  And EC/LaX...I believe EC will come out far ahead...but then you never know.  WIAC teams are full of surprises, any given Saturday, and I think LaX is on the upswing and will continue to improve throughout the year.

I came across this - thought you might like it.  What's a BLUGOLD?

BLUGOLD: A state of mind, sense of pride, inner confidence and incomparable positive attitude that encompasses the student body of the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire symbolized by two colors, Blue and Gold.

Bobo you are one unique man.  This board would be nowhere near as enjoyable without your personality.  I am not personally offended that you or anybody disagrees with me, so please keep your opinions coming.  Yes, there are times that some of us (me) may allow an emotion or two to seep in and overwhelm what would otherwise be a reasonable reply- for that I forgive you and I hope you do the same for me.

Nice work '02.  I enjoyed the article.
Good read BP.

The two of you persuaded me to change my pick in the Platteville/Oshkosh matchup.

With the help of a friend I will be attempting a d3reports video summarizing tonight's game.  I think we've got it figured out and if I don't totally blow it hopefully you'll be able to view it when Pat posts the reports from this week's games.

This I got to see!!!!

I still think Oshkosh is going to win. From a pickems standpoint, I hope they do. As a UWW fan, I hope UWP gets the "W".

The Titans/Pioneer match-up is proving to be the hardest one to call.  Maybe it is my succumbing to 17's persistent touting of Oshkosh or my perennial misjudging of Platteville in the pick em's every year but I am sticking with the Titans to win tomorrow. Stats don't make me confident that UWP can stop Wara and I always take those with a grain of salt anyway, unless I am dealing with the common opponent factor.  So all of you who have chosen to back the Pioneers should feel comforted because I always screw up my picks when they are involved.  ;) :D ;D   Besides, I have done well the last several weeks so the odds dictate that I am due for a bad week.   :P

Trust me, you never want a Johnnie to know that you think he was right. It's bad enough when they're convinced they're right, they don't need our encouragement  ;) ;D

Surprised to see the UWW vs UWS game prediction of 38-10 given UWO beat them 56-10 on 9/22. Did you split the difference between the UWO and UWEC margin of victories? UWO was + 46, UWEC was +14 = 32 pts / 2 =  16...so 36-10 score rounded to 38-10? How about that shoddy math for a Friday, haha  ???
