2.  DB's getting beat for long yardage (TD's and long plays).  I didn't think this would be an issue this year given the returnees. Good point, there have been a 4 long plays that I recall.  Sometimes an over agressive defense will have that happen, especially when keying on the run.   Two happened versus Platteville, the first when we had a blitz called and the QB miraculously got the ball off and the corner slipped, the second also when the corner fell down.  Against, Stout, flat out errors.  Those two bothered me more than Platteville.   UWW did have second string safeties and outside linebackers in when those two plays occured

8.  And for next year, we don't have an underclassmen getting significant carries at running back.   Desmond Ward is a junior and there are backs behind him.  Who got the extra carries last year?  Stanley and Anderson were both Seniors.

2. There were two long TD passes by Campbellsville. You can dismiss the one in the 4th quarter though. In the Platteville game, there were more than two long pass plays. In the first half, the Platteville WRs beat the corners several times. Besides the TD plays,, there was least 2 plays of 20+ yards. And on another play, the CB was beaten badly and grabbed onto the receiver for an easy holding call. In the second half, UWW mixed up the coverages more, giving the CBs help on the outside. Plus, UWP was down to their 4th QB by the end. I'd have to say that the secondary is a big concern.

8. Last year, Coppage was just a junior. You knew he was coming back so it wasn't as critical to play a freshman or sophomore RB. I also think that Coppage played less at this point last season since Stanley and Andersen were more than adequate. My last point is that I have a feeling that UWW has an ace in the hole - that there's a stud RB who's not on the roster this season ready to step in and replace Coppage in 2012.

Coppage averaged 24 carries a game last year (336 carries/14 games injuried in 2nd quarter @ Campbellsville DNF; DNP vs River Falls) and through 6 games this year is avg 20.1 (121 carries). The team as a whole has about the same number of rushes as last year - 2011 274 atts/6 gm, 2010 279/6 gm. Since Coppage is in the game to run the ball and not as a decoy, I disagree that LV played less at this point last season than this year - I think it's actually the other way around. I don't know the actual snaps played, but from watching all the games (listened only to the River Falls game) I doubt your assertion is correct.

In the absence of losses, fans, especially non-fans and the media have a tendency to fixate on a team's weak spots and treat them like losses. So even in a perfect season, you can never be perfect.

Travis,

I played 1992-1996.  What position did he play?  What years did Glenn W. Play?

Woody

Glen Woychik played Defensive Tackle - Probably 87 to 91 or 92. He should have been a senior when you arrived. Maybe you just missed him. I am quite old you know...

Nice!!! Glad to see the forecast broke 60 degrees. Yesterday it gave a high of only 59.

oshfb - is there a time frame that the university allows for tailgating, as far as how early you can get there? Or can you just get there however early you want?

Not 100% sure. The Homecoming pregame celebration begins at 11:30am at Titan Stadium so I would think the stadium parking lots open to the public some time shortly prior to that? As for the bank parking lot, I haven't a clue on timeframe but that is where I've tailgated in the past.

Gasping? Maybe not that fast. I play racquetball in a league twice a week for my cardio. So, maybe 6 or 7 plays.

I guess I'm either trying to rile people up- or people have really, really thin skin when it comes to talking about their teams.

If you feel my post on this site regarding concerns/areas that need work was meant to "rile people up"- get real or get out of the purple haze.  This is a message board for talking football, it's not the UWW a$$ kissing page.  Our corners also got beat for two long touchdown passes vs Campbellsville.  Covington fielded a very dangerous punt in the Stagg Bowl in the 4th quarter.  We learned in 2005 and 2006 that talent alone doesn't win the Stagg, it's execution and playing smart that are equally important.  Can we not talk about areas of the team that need to improve, or is that only subject matter that can be discussed in private or by the coaching staff. Am I leaking a top secret message to the enemy by letting them know UWW might have some work to do?  I'm not a fan because I want to see UWW improve? Give me a break.

As for bringing OAC crap onto this board, to you WarhawkDad I say- read it again, but this time from a different perspective.  Mt gets scorched in a newspaper article and I post a message that says it's not Mt's fault for winning 28 conference games by 35 points or more since 2007- it's the rest of the conference's fault.  That's riling people up intentionally?  I was defending Mt for cripes sake.

To those who continue to mischaracterize what I say or pretend to know I have some devious plot in mind, maybe you need to look inside first and decide if you might just be a little over sensitive and lacking a willingness to step back and look at things a bit more objectively.

Lastly, is someone like Skunks ever, ever attacked one of you on this board, I sure as hell wouldn't join arms with him.

Emma, emma, emma

I am sorry that my smiley faces did not transmit the fact that I was tryihg to be a little funny and I was being somewhat sarcastic.   I have been known to go onto other Conference boards and drop an occasional bomb myself.  I have no problem in raising questions and causing a spirited debate.  Skunks is one of the better posters at doing this as well.   Next time I will try to make it more clear.  After reading it a second time, I see you were trying to say the rest of the OAC needs to get better and it is not Mount's fault the schedule they play.   With that said, I am not the only person who read it and got it wrong, there are other posters on the OAC Board who did the same.   Emma, on to the next subject, I never make it personal or hold a grudge!
