I went to the game friday night and had a few observations.

#1. Blanchard when given time is a complete QB.  He makes smart choices and seems to command that offense very well.
#2. The offensive line did not look great.  Now this was my first game live this year but I did not see the fire I have seen in years past.  I don't know if having Dinkel upstairs takes away from some of the desire.
#3. They are for sure missing dominating DB's.  Stout was not a great team but that score also did not represent how close that game was.

I am afraid of UWO this weekend, The hawks have a big bullseye on their backs as we all know and this is the Titans Super Bowl.  I think this team has a long way to go if they want to 3peat.  just my 2 cents.

Interesting comments.  I agree Matt is a complete quarterback when given time; he is smart, nimble and has an accurate arm....no wonder NFL scouts are at the games.  The offensive line is young, but I disagree about two things.  First the fire comment, they may not be as demonstrative as Gawronski or Ustruck, but they work and play hard and Dinkel will tell you that. The second is as far as Dinkel in the box, I had the same concern when he moved up to the box last year.  It did not seem to be a problem last year.  I know he still works with the line during the week.  The DB's do need to step up and I think more pressure would help with that as well and it would nice to get Hamilton back at safety.

After 6 games this year the defense has given up 66 points, after 6 games in 2010, the defense had given up 38 points.  Your point is well taken, but some of that is mitigated by the fact that we also had Adrian in the mix last year, which was a 0.

Saturday is going to fun.

Replaced by Franklin, which was also a big fat zero!! We didn't play as "stout" defensively against Stout last week; gave up too many points. Playing 1 game at a time, as it may, is it possible we got caught looking ahead 1 week? Give Stout credit for coming out after the half firing on all cylinders. Most teams are toast by then, but they had some drive left in their tanks.  ;)

Levell Coppage enters Saturday's game at Oshkosh needing 185 yards to become the UWW and WIAC career rushing leader.

The two penalties on kick off returns costs us 114 yards of field position.  Without those errors it's very likely the Stout score would have looked considerably different.  Without those penalties our starting position is between the Stout 30-35 yard line.  Instead we started both on the WARHAWK 12.  One possession ends in a missed field goal.  The other in a punt.  We actually moved the ball pretty well on both possessions (15 plays, 13 plays) but get nothing out of them.  Stout's defense deserves credit but without the penalties I suspect we score both possessions.

I thought Stout had a really solid game plan and prepared well.

And if we score on both possessions, Stout gets kick-offs and does not get as good of field position (potentially) either and maybe the big plays don't happen.  Alot has been said about the Warhawks maybe not firing on all cylinders for a complete game, but I repeat something I said a couple days ago.  They still find a way to win, and win convincingly.   Only time will tell about Saturday, but in the big picture of moving and improving through the season and into the playoffs, significant improvement can still occur and I believe it will.

Anybody (besides oshfb...I know he'll be there) plan on attending the UWW-UWO game?

I was thinking maybe we can get together for a little tailgating if anyone is interested. I was thinking across the street from the Stadium (the bank parking lot). We plan on getting there fairly early Saturday morning.

We'll have a beige pop-up tent with a Whitewater flag hanging down from it. Anyone interested on getting together??

Whitewater fans, Oshkosh fans, all welcome...

Maybe I've just been crunching number to long tonight.

What I discovered crunching Levell's career numbers...

Levell with 36 career 100 yard rushing games (D III National Record Nate Kmic - 36)
Levell with 46 career games scoring a TD  (D III National Record Nate Kmic - 49)

Believe me when I say BleedPurple and 02 Warhawk are much younger and I know are much more proficient at arithmetic. I spent over an hour checking and double-checking the statistics.

Just using the word arithmetic places you in the senior crowd with me!!

Everyone appreciates the work you do for Warhawk football. Many of us probably wouldn't even be here if it were not for you.  A big thank you from The Land of the Morning Calm!!

Much Appreciated!!!

BTW - I have removed my posts in regards to the Nate Kmic national records that Levell appears to be on the verge of breaking.
I'm just not satisfied that my information is correct.   :'(
