The Bethel part I couldn't care about.

Oh okay thanks...so much for changing the subject.

But, on the other hand, besides UWW and Oshkosh, do you feel any other WIAC schools deserves considerations for inclusion in the TOP 25?  If so, who and why?

No.   I just don't understand three from the MIAC. IMHO. (as you say) their conference doesn't seem that strong, to command that level of respect.  Not this year. Not to mention that a WIAC team with a similar season record and experience would've been dropped from the rankings by now.

I  was hoping to stir up some WIAC pride in the posts.  But who am I to stop a train?!?  ::)

"a WIAC team with a similar season record and experience would've been dropped from the rankings by now." -- says who? When has that happened? Name the national semifinalist WIAC team that lost two close games to one-loss, ranked teams and got dropped from the poll. Just curious.

No matter the strength of the MIAC, which is not as good as the WIAC, of course, but still pretty good, those are still a few good teams at the top right now. Your sour grapes woe-is-the-WIAC post doesn't make any more sense to me than it makes sense to your fellow WIAC fans.

1.  Titan Stadium seating capacity listed at 9,800 on the WIAC weekly release.  When TV panned the grandstand, it looked rather full. The attendance listed on the box score seemed short - or only included paid attendance?

2.  Wara is listed as a Junior on Oshkosh's roster, not a Senior as some (including myself) thought. The fact that his brother (?) Justin preceeded him on the Titans maybe makes it seem like he's been there for a longer time.

I think you might be on to something with the attendance only including paid attendees.

There have been 4 Wara brothers who have played for the Titans since 2001. All of them were starters at some point in their careers. Something along the lines of this for a timeline:
Nick Wara (QB) from 2001-2004
Josh Wara (FS) 2004-2007
Justin Wara (WR) 2007 - 2010
Nate Wara (QB) 2009 - 2012

I mentioned earlier that I thought the attendance figure was light.  However after seeing this picture I'm not so sure.  There is an awful lot of empty space on the ends and the top.   It looks like you could take that crowd, move them together and perhaps fill a little more than half of the stadium.  Regardless it was an enthusiastic crowd.

(you can probably add three more onto Saturday's attendance total)

I will be praying for Kathie, Coach Thorne and their family as well.  He sounds like a great man and a man of great faith.  I have no doubt the North Central family will continue to provide the Thorne family amazing support.

That's an interesting picture, bw.  Is it one of voice's photo's before he got run over by the bumbling official?  ;)  You can almost pick out the yellow/black clad crowd in the middle with the purple clad crowd bookending them. Looks maybe 60/40% split.  I thought it was interesting on the TV broadcast that the Oshkosh announcers were disappointed with the Whitewater turnout because they had heard rumors on d3 message boards that UWW was bringing 12 bus-loads of fans. It turned out not to be true. But w/o that large WW turnout, it might have been just an average Oshkosh crowd. How many d3 message boards are there? I never read anything like that on here. I wonder where they read such a thing?

89.7FM (nice plug, btw!), using the quote function in the upper right corner of a post, is a lot more useful and easier that copying and pasting or typing a quote in your reply window.

Please understand, I'm not the conductor of this train. I'm a hobo hitching a ride, far in the back of the line of railcars. Don't get frustrated when the first poster responding doesn't want to dance. If you don't understand why three MIAC members are in the top 25, I'd suggest asking on the MIAC board why three members of what you see as a weak conference, could be in the top 25?  You'll probably get the feedback you are seeking (although it might cost you most of your karma!)  This WIAC fan doesn't have much of a complaint since we don't have a contender for the same top 25 honor. Can you site any examples of a WIAC member(s) with a similar season record and experience being dropped from the rankings as your reply said?  Convince me we're being screwed & I might start waving the pom pons (u rah rah!!)

Thanks for the tip..although rudimentary and a second stringer in status, lacking karma capabilities ...I do get the "quote" function.  But at 4 am and on the IPad the functionality was lacking and I accidentally erased the quote code, so I highlighted instead of starting over.  Thanks though for the tip... ;)

As for the piling on and  from the Comish no less.. I can only assume from your defensive responses that you both actually attended MIAC schools for undergrad.  And you are truly Bethel grads hiding in sheep's , er I mean Whitewater clothing.

Here's my point... Granted Bethel has a history,  Granted they had a great game against STU. And Bethel has a respected program.  I do not begrudge them their ranking (okay well maybe a bit).

But do you think in the run to the end, that if any WIAC team does upset UWW that they would get a nod?  I don't think so.  I think it would be seen as a " Freak" win by an under dog, and an even more " freak " loss by a champion.  maybe a token vote here or there.  Because the WIAC beats up on itself all season...except for Whitewater... They are all tossed in as " bottom feeders" no program gets the respect because anyone of them can beat the other at any time.  So there is rarely a STRONG or CLEAR number two to Whitewater.  As a result it's tough to get some respect.

Now Oshkosh could run the table and be that clear number two...but posts here keep saying.. I hope....or I support...or I wish....or do you think that UWO will get a bid?  But no one is confident it will happen.  BTW I hope they do too...

Much like my posts....the WIAC suffers a Rodney Dangerfield-like existence.   8-). Just saying, and now let the pummeling begin.....

LOL!!!     I have been trying to understand why the attendance at Oshkosh has been such a topic of discussion.  3863 people.  Almost as many posts discussing it.  Hey Blugold - 4429 at UWEC.  Got any pics to post???   ::)  I prefer to see the side of the stadium with the blue and gold.  Perhaps if someone has some closeups we could count them, one by one, and see if we come up with the same total as WIAC.  How do they count them anyway?
And take my karma away...I really don't care.  I am sure I will manage to offend somebody.   :o

...read back a few pages. Last week there was considerable talk coming out of Oshkosh that they were trying to fill Titan Stadium (or at least set an attendance record) for the UWW game. A student group called the Yellow and Black's (I may be wrong on the name) have been attempting to drum up support among UW-O students to attend game. Oshkosh hasn't enjoyed great attendance support for football or basketball, from either the campus community or the city of Oshkosh. But, they have a good product on the field. I believe they actually beat EC in EC a couple weeks ago if I'm not mistaken. Looks like they fell short of their goals, however. Hope they don't get discouraged. Good to see Eau Claire supporting their team with a nice crowd.

Yes, they did beat EC in EC.  Is that your not so subtle dig because I found it amusing that some of you find the attendance at a UWW game is of that much interest?  I knew some of you couldn't take a little ribbing. But either way, the ec/oshkosh game was a good game, good crowd and good fun. And Oshkosh brought a decent crowd and the fans I met were pretty cool.
go ahead, take your shots.   I don't play your game.  I hope Oshkosh continues their success and wish them the best.  Of course,  I wish that for my blugolds also  ;
