OshDude -
I got to listen to the game on the radio; I was on the edge of my seat...
It would have been neat to be at that game, seeings you appropriately describe it as a bad, schamltzy movie...  ;) Sort of like a bad Halloween flick...

Did you see the muff punt? Was an Eagle blocked into the reciever, thus causing the fumble? Or did they run into one another, or what? It looked like blocked into the receiver. Fair catch called. The refs met for a bit, but they got it right.

I didn't realize, or guess I can't remember ever seeing, two time outs in a row, without any time expiring, to ice a kicker... Did the Eagles have to line up, and was the play clock running, when the second one was called? How does that work? Anyone know?

What kind of noise was there in the stadium when he missed both FGs? I can only imagine the Titans fans exhaled a big sigh of relief? Which reaction was audibly louder?
The first time was a collective "Holy %#&@!!" from the crowd, but it was obvious right away that the penalty was going against UWO. Then there was a decent "Block that kick!" chant going, but I doubt anyone thought he was going to miss again. Just nervous energy. Then I thought, "Man, that's a tough angle. If you're setting up a field goal, why did they want it over there?" When the second one was blocked, it was kind of nuts. A mixture of disbelief and a little "What in the world is going on?!" The second reaction was louder. It had a lot of laughter in it. I was thinking that it's just meant to be that UWO will make the playoffs. That thought was incorrect.

I'll correct the unofficial stats I provided earlier...
Wara had 12 carries for 28 yards...
He was 15-24 for 135 yards passing and 2 TDs...
Looks like the Eagles were able to contain him...

Hertrampf had 31 carries for 186 yards, with 3 TDs for UWL, while Butterfield's totals were 13 carries for 89 yards and a TD... He was 14-27 for 164 yards...
The number that stuck out to me, and the one that didn't surprise me when I got home was LAX's 28 first downs.

Who would have thought LaCrosse would have as many first downs as Wara had yards rushing?! UW-L is my least favorite WIAC team, but I have to say that was one impressive overall performance.

La Crosse had two wins coming into the game, but played everybody tough. Someone mentioned previously (Bobo?) that La Crosse was the best two win team in the country- I think yes.

It was only a matter of time before Lax pulled one of these close ones out. They've been in almost every game this year and just haven't quite finished, until last night that is.

Wild game in Oshkosh.  With the Titans loss, the WIAC hopes of a 2nd playoff bid ends. It also means that UW-W has clinched a seventh consecutive WIAC championship and undoubtedly the automatic NCAA bid that goes with it.

Congratulations Hawks!

I think 7 consecutive football championships is a conference record. Is that right bp?

Yes, LaCrosse won 6: 1949 through 1954.

To take BP's info a step further...
With Saturday night's clinching of a seventh consecutive WIAC championship the UW-Whitewater football eclipses the previous record of six straight conference crowns held by UW-La Crosse (1949-1954). The Eagles (then Indians) had two outright titles in its seven year run.

1949 La Crosse, Stevens Point, Stout
1950 La Crosse, Whitewater
1951 La Crosse
1952 La Crosse, Platteville
1953 La Crosse, Platteville
1954 La Crosse

Whitewater's now seven year run includes five outright titles in the first six years with the 2011 title status still to be determined.

2005 Whitewater
2006 Whitewater
2007 Whitewater
2008 Stevens Point, Whitewater
2009 Whitewater
2010 Whitewater
2011 Whitewater (?)

Fred, stoutguy is a myth around here. Only shows up every once in awhile. Although, he is going into the Stout Hall of Fame with the Distinguished Service Award next weekend. I believe he will show for that.  ;D

Congrats Stoutguy

BDB, it looks like your Menominee HS football team will meet my Tomah Timberwolves (aka Indians to us old guys) in L3 action.  I'm hoping Tomah plays a tad better than the first time the two teams met in the first week of this season.

Unbelievable....I've been away all weekend and just noticed that UWL upset UWO.

Great win for La Crosse, but that means only one WIAC team in the playoffs this year.

Just posted this weeks Inside the Box Scores.

This WIAC championship gives UWW 32 in its history....they only trail UWL who has 33 WIAC football titles.

You mean, you didn't feel the ground shaking around 9PM Saturday night?  I felt it all the way over here!!   ;)

Awesome day at the Perk on Saturday!  Great time seeing old friends and players return for a wonderful Homecoming celebration!  Congrats to the Warhawks on another great win, 7th straight Conference title and to Levell on his new record!  A tremendous athlete and accomplishment!     I, too, was really surprised at the Titans loss to LAX but it is the Wacky WIAC and as I mentioned several times in conversation on Saturday, people sometimes forget how difficult it is, week in and week out, to win games in this conferences.  We, Warhawk fans should never take it for granted. When my family came into the league in 03, UWW was just a top tier WIAC team and that season and the next in 04, we played the Eagles the last game of the season and lost both giving UWLC the conference championship.  It is one of the best rivalry's in D-3, IMHO, so even during their rough patch the last several years, I have never stopped feeling nervous to play the Eagles and with their win against an extremely impressive UWO team, those old feelings will return again for our re-match on the 12th.  Just glad it will be at the Perk.  ;)

I am so disappointed for Oshkosh and the WIAC.  I really wanted two WIAC teams to make it to the playoffs.  This is an example of just how tough this conference is this year.  La Crosse had two wins coming into the game, but played everybody tough. Someone mentioned previously (Bobo?) that La Crosse was the best two win team in the country- I think yes.

Nothing is certain in this conference this year and it makes me appreciate what the Hawks have done all the more.
Sorry for Oshkosh and sorry for the WIAC- the conference is worthy of two playoff teams.
I share the disappointment.  I was so impressed when UWW played the Titans two weekends ago and was looking forward to watching them both progress in the playoffs.  The WIAC continues to beat each other up.   While UWW continues to win, the physical toll is evident.   We need to get healthy, quick.
