In honor of Levell Coppage becoming the WIAC's all-time leading rusher, I wrote a little column about him on my blog.

A Rare Talent Indeed

When writing in my blog I try check my love for whitewater football at the door, without showing any bias. However, given that Coppage is the "conference's" leading rusher, I thougt an article about Levell is a must.

Hope you enjoy it  :)

Thanks!

Nice job 02 Warhawk...enjoyed the read.  +k

However, OPRF H.S. has to do something about those uniforms, especially the colors.  At first glance, I thought I was looking at a picture of a UW-Platteville football game!!  ;)

Sackman,  do you know the head baseball coach at OPRF?  He and I were freshman together on the UW-Oshkosh football team. ( I transfered a year later to UWW).  Seems the WIAC is well represnted down there.

Yes, a great read indeed. He is so illusive and then explodes with speed. He doesn't look like a bruiser at all. I remember playing WITH Greg Corning as a freshman. That guy had rediculous legs on him, just a pile of muscle carrying the ball. Coppage doesn't resemble him at all. He's MUCH faster. Corning would smash your face every play, Coppage prefers to avoid the hit and get extra yards. In the end, that is what matters most.

Good read '02.  What I've always found amazing with Coppage is that he is almost never tackled by the first defender with a shot at him.  Somehow he manages to make that defender miss pretty regularly.

There's no doubt in my mind that his misfortune (ankle injury) was our good fortune.  Whether it's D1 or not he could easily be playing at a higher level.

That's one thing that I didn't touch on, is Coppage's strength.

He's surprisingly strong the way he bounces off tacklers.

Great tailgate yesterday..... great food and awesome company.....Coppage was simply terrific as he broke he record......he will be difficult to replace but there might be a light at the end of that tunnel.....
Another FIB coming north?  ;)

FIB standing for Fabulous Illinois (foot)Baller? Ain't no other kind associated with UW-W as far as this cheesehead is concerned! :)
8-) LOL, that's great.....em, now can we do something about the selective speed enforcement conducted by Wisconsin State Police on those with Illinois license plates? >:(.  Just joking  ;D

Are they back to doing this?

Yeah, that's the guy......right on route 12 almost to Lake Geneva, by Route 50 when I am headed north!    ;D

Usually the FIB cars are easy to spot as they are almost always going way over 80. The plates on the car are not the factor, but when I'm speeding, badly, and every car that flies past me has ILL plates on them, well, I say they earn that attention.  8-)

Hold on, going over 80 mph is speeding?  But my odometer goes up to 160.
