If I had the gumption (which I don't...especially on a MONDAY), I would go back to last year and copy/paste all the comments you folks made about Mount's "easy" bracket.   8-)

I think the committee went BEYOND themselves to "make up" for their obvious gaffe from last year.

It's all good.......I think this shake-up is good for D-III football, and if some other team is really that good, they will beat one of us Purple Powers and make it to the Stagg.

Good luck against Albion!   ::)  (Yah I know......Benedictine will be a stern test for Mount.)
We said it was easy and it was!  Never said we wouldn't love to be the one at the top of it!   :D ;D 8-)

St. Thomas is the 3rd Purple power now.

Wait a minute! What colors are UMHB??

Until they beat someone of any stature (like 1 of the 2 original members of the purple power club), they're just another team that wears purple.  It's a bit premature to consider them a card carrying member of the PP club (IMHO).

This was the attitude of some of "US" when UWW appeared in 2005 that you so bristled at. "YOU" are now "US" ;D

Hate to inform you retagent, but recent results indicate "YOU" are no longer "US."  If you're going to play lumberjack, you gotta hold up your end of the log!! "YOU" haven't.  ;)

Ok, let me restate what I was trying to get across. A few weeks back there was post regarding if you want to be successful in football, it seems that the color purple is the one to have. There is no doubt that UWW and UMU have become the true purple powers. Like LSU in D1. But, the Tommies and UMHB are doing what they can to at least resemble them. In the end, there can be only ONE, however, there seems to be a few trying to get in the club of elite teams, and they also sport purple on their jerseys right? Nobody answered if UMHB wears purple though so I'm guessing.

Good Luck to the Hawks!

You mean like when UMHB beat Mount Union on the road in 2004 to get to the Stagg and play Linfield?

Purple was around before UWW came to the party. :)

Your absolutely correct and it was the point I was making earlier.  Until UWW beat Mount two consecutive years, Mount deserved the bracketing received.  Now UWW does and only time will tell if it was deserved.   I agree completely that it is good for D-III football and actually last year was as well.   I am going to give the NCAA the benefit of the doubt (ugg, did I really say that!).

Good Luck to Mount.

I'm about to start the Playoff Pickems for the WIAC Pickems board. How would we like to do it?

1st Round: 1 point
2nd Round: 2 Points
3rd Round: 4 Points
4th Round: 8 Points
Stagg Bowl: 16 Points

- Or -

1 Point per game for each round. Then for the Stagg Bowl, I'll add some statistical over/unders. Like how many times the announcer will mispronounce a player's name, or school?

KitchenSink

I like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 points for the rounds.  Makes those first two rounds extra important.

I'd be ok with a few 1-point add-ons for the Stagg Bowl.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

I acknowledge that the Johnnies have had a couple rough years, but when your last losing season was 44 years ago, I might listen. But it might be hard to hear since I'll probably be on the wrong side of the grass by then. The last time the Johnnies missed the post season two years in a row was in 83 - 84. I'll take longevity. It reminds me of the story about the young bull and the old bull looking down on the female bovines. If you haven't heard it, I'm sure most have, so you'll hear it some place or other.

By the way, we stopped by Fat Jack's for a bite before the game. Nice place.

I am not a doubter but I admit to being a worrier.  Maybe that's inconsistant, I don't know.  Fortunately I know that the team and staff never look beyond the next opponent and stay focused on having a game plan in place to beat that team.

You are not a "doubter". By doubters, I was referring to some non-UW-W posters. Some of them are the usual suspects, others were simply people trying to fill themselves with hope because their team was in line to play the Warhawks. I don't think it would be fair to label a poster a "doubter" when they are posting about their own team. Unless a poster comes out and says something like, "I don't believe in this year's team".  I think some of us simply worry more than others, that's all. You and 02 probably more than most!  ;)

The bold part of your quote is part of the reason I don't worry. But I remind everyone on the boards one of the single most important things to remember:  A poster looking ahead DOES NOT EQUAL the team or coaching staff looking ahead.    A UW-W poster could be as brash, cocky, arrogant, over-confident, or smug as he/she chose to be and it would not affect either UW-W's preparation or the outcome of the game.  Their karma? Yes. The game? No

Now that I have read this properly, I agree with you, BoBo. Looking at what the other 3 have done the last several years, UWW, UMU, and UMHB, the bar for the purple power club is pretty darn high.  This could very well be the year that the Tommies start to pad their resume, however.  That will be a very tough match-up if both teams hold up their ends and we meet them down the road.

BTW, I too, am never a doubter but always a worrier!  I think it is a healthy trait with regards to football and insures that one never overlooks any opponent.  Any given Saturday...........   8-)

Nobody worries more than a parent....believe me and I have come to realize it makes no difference what position.  Worry is healthy, but I also fully believe in this coaching staff.
