Maxwell Smart: I think it's only fair to warn you, this facility is surrounded by a highly trained team of 130 Black Op Snipers.
Siegfried: I don't believe you.
Maxwell Smart: Would you believe two dozen Delta Force Commandos?
Siegfried: No.
Maxwell Smart: How about Chuck Norris with a BB gun?

Been out of town for a while but got a big chuckle out of these posts.  This one is really funny and reminded me of:

BMax: Oh, yes, I'm a big music lover. Would you believe that I once listened to three weeks of Beethoven? Would you believe it? Three weeks!
Villain: I find that quite hard to believe.
Max: Would you believe Two weeks of Bach?
Villain: I don't think so.
Max: Would you believe... one hour of Looney Tunes?

Can't wait to get  home tomorrow-God willing- and get geared up for the Albion game.  These are the times to cherish.

I'm doing my "homework" in anticipation of Saturday's Albion at UWW playoff opener and I stumbled across an interesting statistic.

According to this week's Division III statistics -  the Active Career Rushing Leaders category indicates the following:

1.    Levell Coppage (UWW) -  7080 yards (No. 3 all-time in Division III)
5.    Taylor Edwards (UWRF) -  3246 yards
12.  Justin Spaulding (Dubuque)  -  2974 yards

What do the three running backs have in common?  Edwards and Spaulding each played there freshman season at UW-Whitewater. Coppage of course has played his entire career as a UW-Whitewater Warhawk

bp, would you agree that losing McCollum for the season was a major blow early in the season.  He played so well in the playoffs, especially at the Stagg. He was really turning into the QB for the defense - old habits are hard to lose, I guess. I think his loss was a big reason why early in the season the DB's were having trouble.  It has gotten much better toward the end of the season.  Sort of like how the Pack was really struggling during the first 8 games - out of position or simply blown coverages, penalties etc. Monday night looked like a completely different set of guys. Hopefully the guys can continue to jell as the playoffs take off, create turnovers and play like they did during  last years postseason - most of them are the same guys afterall.

I definitely agree with this and I do expect them to continue to jell. Although I don't think the secondary will be tested anywhere near as much as they were leading up to the Stagg Bowl last year.

With no proof whatsoever I have a feeling we may be seeing the return of Mr. Pirtle. Giving him 3 years of elegibility to start. Ward remains as the #2 back. Or I could be completely wrong!

You've got half of it right.   ;)

Was that right about being completely wrong?

Didn't sakman say in these pages recently that something is brewing in the pipeline for next year?

I'm guessing you are right about the Pirtle part.

I'm kinda surprised that the Pirtle theories didn't start in August. After all, he is still on the UWW campus. And, he wouldn't be the first UWW player to sit out a year, and then come back.

Plus, there are probably half a dozen premier running backs in Wis-Il who think they'll be the next Beaver/Coppage.

No help at running back next year(high school junior) but could be a banner year the following year.....will have to see how the chips fall.....

I started thinking about my last post after I posted it. Always a good thing, and, probably, something I do too often.

Is the "Toughest Bracket" the bracket that has the "Best" #1 seed? Is it the bracket where there is the biggest likelihood of an upset of the #1 seed? OR: Is it the bracket where, if you had the #1 seed from that bracket play the #1 seed from the other three brackets, the #2 seed against the #2 seed from the other three brackets, The #3 seed against the #3 seed from the other 3 brackets and so on, which bracket would produce the most winners? Or are there other ways to determine which bracket is toughest?

Discuss.

My vote was for MHB's bracket. I look at the top 4-5 teams in that quadrant and I believe together they are stronger than the top 4-5 teams in the other regions.

After MHB's bracket, here's the next three toughest - in order:

2nd - Mount Union (this quadrant is very close to MHB's in talent, but I'm not sold on Wabash. Plus after Wabash there's a big drop off).
3rd - UWW (Kean is battle tested and I heard Salisbury has a good running game. But after that...??)
4th - St. Thomas (weakest bracket I think. UST should cruise even though Del Valley is the "No. 1")
