Hunting season impacts attendance numbers but how much is up for debate, I guess.  I have been at games where fathers, whose sons are starting, chose a hunting trip over a trip to the Perk.  That one , I never understood.

I don't know what the student base is as far as attendance at the UWW games, but the students get in free during the regular season games...

But they have to pay for playoff games, right? Perhaps that makes for a few no shows...

Free tickets were available to dorm residents and tenants of DLK Enterprises.  Of course they did have to go all the way to Tratt St. and their office to pick them up.  I don't think the opening of deer hunting season would account for their absence yesterday.

There are no postseason games at Camp Randall -- when you buy your season tickets, those are the only games that will be played there all season. Not the same in D-III with playoffs.

I think people dramatically underestimate the impact that the hunting season has on attendance.

I did my part. I was there with two friends. I did leave when the rain started - but - in my defense, It WAS 45 - 0 at the time.

Pat, I understand your position and have no problem with it.  We did record a video at the stadium however because of it's length (2:50) and doing it in HD we were unable to upload it to youtube.  Unfortunately we didn't realize the problem until we had left the stadium and rather than return we just we redid it where we were.  Next time I'll be sure that it all works before we leave.  I hope you don't mind that I posted a link to it here.

I wasn't at the game either. I was celebrating Thanksgiving with my family in IL this weekend.

In fact, i'm kind of glad I didn't go to the game. I had a great time at the computer bouncing back and forth between other games. Especially the IL-Wesleyan/Monmouth game. It was by far the game of the week.

Here's my top five explanations that accounted for the low attendance yesterday:
1. Opening day of deer season (Drink a beer, Shoot a deer!!! )
2. Student's have to pay/too lazy to pick-up free tickets
3. Weather getting colder
4. Holidays (my excuse)
5. First-round matchup - fans took the win for granted

I'll be at Saturday's game for sure. Attendance will be better next game....no worries. Besides, attendance ususally takes a hit when the playoffs start.

Seems the opening of deer hunting season has carried over to this board, too.  Very quite considering round #2 of the playoffs is upcoming.

Maybe it's because Franklin College is in on saturday and UWW already beat them handily?  I don't know. It will be interesting how much FC has/hasn't improved since early in this season get together.  They haven't really been tested at any time consistantly throughout their conference schedule. But, they have a better idea what to expect. Their coach has to somehow get that 45-0 score out of his players conscience or it could get ugly again. Hopefully, the Warhawks continue to play aggressively on defense & create turnovers, protect Blanchard & score early and often on offense (with a defensive score or two mixed in for good measure), keep the penalties to a minumum, correct the FG kicking problem of last week, keep people fresh by substituting freely, getting more playing time for LC's freshman back-ups, etc. etc. etc. - did I miss anything?
