The warhawk second half defense was the defense people talk about when they say defense wins championships. I gotta think it made fbf413 extremely happy.  ;)

Watching the Badger game and having to listen to Matt Millen (tough as it is) talk about Montee Ball, it sounds like the same things I heard listening to Franklin Coach Leonard talk about Coppage during the post game press conference - vision, patients, burst, power, etc.

New team coming to the Perk next week (or we'll find out tomorrow they are coming next week).

Salisbury.... Triple option team to boot.

02 Warhawk

Both Coppage and Arnold had themselves a day:

- 221 yards and 3 TDs
- 7 tackles, 2 Ints, 2 tackles for loss and 1 fumble recovery

And Blanchard was effecient as they get (11-14, 141 yards and two TDs)

Bring on Salisbury

02 Warhawk

It was nice meeting Warhawkdad finally as well as Blanchard's parents....very nice people!

I had a great day!!   Both of my Wisconsin teams played very well today.   Wish my favorite team had played on TV  but I truly believe they will on a certain Friday night! But Russell lead the Red machine (I can't help it. he came from the ACC-my neck of the woods and he is as nice as the day is long--plenty talented as well) to victory so I watched the team I could watch and prayed for the team I couldn"t see.  Btu the boys came through again!!  So wonderful.  The second season always brings out the best in them!!  All my favorites (O-liners and 1 line backer) graduated,so I have to make new favorites.  After all somebody has to block so Levell can do his thing, no? Take care of Salisbury this coming Saturday!!!  All the best!! :) :)
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

Arnold's interceptions and fumble recovery led to 17 WARHAWKS' points.  But to me the most incredible stat of the game was the defense surrendering a net 2 yards of offense in the second half.  West was 1 of 10 passing.  The completion was a for a five yard loss.  On the ground the Grizzlies were held to 7 yards.  Whatever half time adjustments were made by the staff were extremely effective.

A fun day at the Perk today- Greg Arnold played like another beast middle linebacker that wore the #51 jersey.

Well, this is one of the most difficult seasons to get a feel for that I can remember- country wide.  Not only does North Central give up a 21 point lead, I believe every one their DB's is all conference (mostly first team), yet they get beat by the second string QB (although apparently he is very good).  Linfield plays a second half like they have no playoff pedigree.  UWW and Mt continue to win, but the victories seem harder to come by than in year's past.  The question for MHB is the same as its been for years, do they lack the balance to get past the best teams?  Speaking of balance, I can't figure out how to think about the Salisbury game.  A pure running team?  But, the UWW weakness has been the long pass and the strength has been stopping the run.  If it seems to good to be true... Then there is Wesley, with a QB that seems to play the same way as Nate Wara.  They didn't have that dimension last year.  As for St. Thomas, Wabash and SJF, they look like teams without a weakness.

It sure makes for exciting playoff watching.

Congrats to UWW and fans today...

+K all around. But not because you guys won; rather, because I'm in a crappy mood...  ;)

(IMO) I didn't think this UWW game seemed harder than year's past. We dominated on both lines way more than last year against FC. In fact, I don't think this game was much in doubt. I mean FC only got 2 total offense yards in the second half!! How exactly would this victory be harder to come by? Or are you talking about all 12 cumulative victories on the season? When was the last time UWW had a turnover (only 8 in 12 games)?  Mount, on the other hand, hasn't been blowing people away the way they usually do, I would agree.  ;)

I think this is a good analysis (except I lean toward Bobo's take that the playoff wins have not been as hard to come by so far. But, yes the WIAC played the Hawks tough this year.). I think your country-wide observations are largely true and probably leave most observers scratching their heads.  However, figuring it all out isn't all that complicated. Take everything you said and mix it all up, shake it real good, double check and triple check the stats, stir well, pour it out, and...PRESTO:  UW-W vs MOUNT UNION in the Stagg Bowl!  ;)

Congrats to UWW!  Not a lot to say that hasn't already been said. UWW is as rock solid as they come. Coppage is best north and south runner I have seen. FC made some plays and had a few stops but the second half was textbook smashmouth on offense and lockdown defense.  UWW is also a class act as well.  Good luck to UWW the rest of the way.

I agree Bobo that UWW has been pretty dominant (defensively primarily) these two playoff games- I was speaking to the entire season as far as tougher victories. I could be wrong as I haven't checked stats, but I do think the offense has not put up the type of yardage and sustained drives they did last year. That's not to say they havent played well, just different. If I recall- UWW had two 1,000 yard receivers last year. I don't think they are anywhere close to that this year. But, I also don't think the play calling is the same. I see a more conservative game plan. I'm not complaining though as I'm a big believer in field position and ball control.
