There should be no reason that Perkins stadium (the home side) should be standing room only!!!

The band should be in full force, the student section should be in full throat, and we should be clapping, screaming, and whistling to disrupt Saint Thomas... REALLY make Perkins stadium "homefield advantage"

I will be surprised if we have 3000 for the game and I suspect 1000 of them will be cheering for St Thomas.  It's a shame and I don't have an explanation.  I hope I'm mistaken.

Anyone else find it slighty ironic that on the D3boards banner above, their is a Wesley football player and a St. Thomas basketball player among the 4 pictures? I wonder if (subconsciously) that has any meaning?  :-\   :-X

Yes.  Like every year, there will be more photos and feature stories on UW-W and Mount Union for two full weeks after Saturday than most schools get in a lifetime, so they want to give props to other programs on the generic banner.  ;)

The weather has been crappy the last couple of weeks.  Maybe with a forecast of sunny and 27 degrees, it will improve.  That is a far cry from 30's and pouring rain.  Let's hope we can Pack the Perk and if not, those in attendance will make plenty of noise!  You all know you can count on me............ 8-)

I think voice said it best. I guess some fans and students are just use to the football team's success. they almost expect them to win everytime. The nostalgia is gone in some fans....which is a shame

Here's to a hard fought, 12 round, knock down drag out bloodbath that only ends in the 9th overtime when one or the other wins because they have the last man standing.   :P ;) 8-)

Is that your official prediction for the Mount/Wesley game?  ;)

Based upon that, it is a good thing there are lights at Mt. Union Stadium! ;D :) ;D

With all the extra tailgating time I hope I'm still conscious for the game :D

I like the running yardage predictions from Bleed and WarhawkDad.  I also like the term "complimentary" passing game WarhawkDad used.  I get the feeling the UWW passing game makes a big attempt at tiring out a defense as it chases the short passes.

I imagine the first quarter will be much like the first couple rounds of a boxing match.

WarhawkDad

Anyone else having a hard time concentrating on work or anything other than football today?   8-)    I have analyzed this game over and over and while I have a great deal of respect for the MIAC and the Tommies, I just have to go back to the the experience that UWW has in the playoffs and in close games.    Taking a look at last year, North Central (#3 Total D), Wesley (#1 in Total D) and Mount Union (#2 in Total D) had great defensive teams and UWW was able to utilize all offensive facets.  We did so with a second string quarterback.

Last year after 14 weeks our scoring defense was 6th in the country, this week we are 5th in the country.  Our defense this year is as good as last year's defense.

This year we go up against St. Thomas who is 3rd in total defense and #1 in rushing defense.  Point being that UWW managed to excel last year against teams with similar rankings in back to back to back games.   While I believe the game tomorrow will be very competitive, I believe UWW will come out on top.

Emma and Warhawkdad,

I agree with both of you.  Emma, I'm presuming you are expecting to go 8 in the box (I know I am). If that is the case, you (Emma) are right, the Hawks will make a living in the short passing game.  It sounds like the Tommies like to blitz from different places out of the 3-4.  Between Blanchard's adept ability to read the defense pre-snap and UW-W's inevitable preparation, I think UW-W will be able to make UST pay the price.  If their corners play deep, then Blanchard will WR Screen them to death.  If they choose to play tight, the blitzers better get home or Huber will burn them deep.  Dad, I also believe the UW-W offense will move the ball.  It will be very interesting to see how UST reacts to playing a team as big, fast, physical, and athletic as they are.

It will also be interesting to see if the Hawks can continue to force turnovers. St. Thomas HAD to have emphasized ball security this week as they know turnovers will kill them against UW-W.  But they had multiple turnovers 6 times this year, including 4 (including 2 of their first 3 possessions) just two weeks ago against Monmouth.

We all are aware of UW-Whitewater's "Cannon Man" banned from Perkins Stadium this year by the NCAA due to the NCAA "rule" banning artificial noisemakers at NCAA football playoff games.

So I'm watching tonight NCAA FBS playoff game on ESPN between Northern Iowa and Montana out in Missoula, MT.

The Griz have scored two touchdowns tonight - after both TDs a cannon goes off in the stadium.

What's up with that NCAA???

Good analysis, and we will se if you are correct. I had the same thoughts going into the 2005 UWW/St John's tilt. I WAS WRONG!!

If memory serves, the Monmouth/St Thomas was played in a snowstorm. That could have had a bit to do with the turnovers. I know that ALL turnovers are caused by the vaunted UWW defense, but, I'm just sayin"........

I certainly heard the cannon as well.  What gives?  I hope I can get this ESPN3 thing.  Gosh I want my guys to win so badly.  I can't believe that the students and other fans who CAN get to the Perk don't come and I WOULD LOVE to come and am too far away to come!!! However, I have ordered the team brownies--and the Stone Station ones as well.  Hoping 40 dozen will do.  Since the broken elbow, I  have somebody make them for me, but from my recipes.  I arrive in Salem on Tuesday so I can be there for the Gagliardi Trophy presentation (I voted for Matt, no surprise there) and the Team dinner on Thursday and then Friday for all the festivities.  All I ask is that you all win and come!!  And leave that damn snow behind!! Can't wait to meet all the new O-liners since all the ones I know have graduated.  The best of luck to my favorite purple team!!!! :) :) :)
