FB: Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference

Question as an outsider, why doesn't Wisconsin-Whitewater move up to d-2? They have been a level about D-3 football for years, and have strong programs in every other sport. Why not make the jump?

This has been hashed over about a hundred times now. And by the way, didn't you ask the same question on the OAC board in regard to Mt. Union?

Yes I did because the same applied to Mt. Union. But I'll search through the threads for the answer if it's going to be in there.

Main reason is that Mount Union (as a whole athletic department and school) is focused on a Division III type philosophy.  Just because one sport is dominant, does not mean the entire athletic department could compete at the next level.

Anyone else having a hard time concentrating on work or anything other than football today?       I have analyzed this game over and over and while I have a great deal of respect for the MIAC and the Tommies, I just have to go back to the the experience that UWW has in the playoffs and in close games.    Taking a look at last year, North Central (#3 Total D), Wesley (#1 in Total D) and Mount Union (#2 in Total D) had great defensive teams and UWW was able to utilize all offensive facets.  We did so with a second string quarterback.

Last year after 14 weeks our scoring defense was 6th in the country, this week we are 5th in the country.  Our defense this year is as good as last year's defense. 

This year we go up against St. Thomas who is 3rd in total defense and #1 in rushing defense.  Point being that UWW managed to excel last year against teams with similar rankings in back to back to back games.   While I believe the game tomorrow will be very competitive, I believe UWW will come out on top.

As much as I hate to admit it, Warhawk Dad-I have to agree with you. The Warhawks experience and homefield advantage are enough to make them 8 point favorites in Vegas . I think the Toms (at least I hope they do) match up with them talent wise, but when you get to this point in the season experience can make a big difference. That being said, I think the Toms can show up and get away with a "w" if they protect the ball and are able to stay diverse offensively. More specifically, if Dakota Tracy can protect the ball and not throw any interceptions I think our odds increase.

All that said, I am looking forward to seeing how they stack up against this enormous challenge. I have the utmost respect for UWW and the program they have built. I camped there as a high school player and benefited tremendously from Coach Berezowitz (sp?) & staff's knowledge. Win or lose we will see how well UST is prepared to take the next step.

Best of luck to the Warhawks. May both teams get through the game injury free and may the winner come home from Salem victorious.

I'm never doubting Bleedpurple again. If UWW plays Mount like they played today, UWW will have their 4th championship in 5 years.

After watching both UMU and UWW today, I think UWW should be the favorite. UMU's QB had ZERO pressure on him today.
As usual, Wesley laid an egg in the semi-finals. Dropped balls and blown coverage is something UWW doesn't do.

If we played Oshkosh with Arnold healthy, I do not think the game would have been as close, but yes Oshkosh is a talented team, which should have been in the playoffs. They controlled their own destiny.
