Either way, after watching the replay of Mt vs Wesley, I see a very fast and physical Mt team with a bunch of guys that can make plays.  Their corner- #10, is a tremendous cover corner and tackler- especially for his size.  UWW will need a repeat of their St. Thomas execution.  There is such a difference in the way UWW plays offense defense in comparison to Wesley and Mt.- and thankfully so.  UWW's offensive defensive style typically forces the opponent to complete longer drives, increasing the chances for mistakes by the offense.  IMO the key will be for the UWW secondary to eliminate the long pass play again.  Mt will most likely get their yards underneath given all the skill players they have, but if UWW can again tackle well-it may result in sputtering drives.

I think you have your offensive and defense mixed up

Actually I didn't have the words mixed up. UWW's offense plays a major role in the success of UWW's defense.  By playing a pound the rock attitude- they take up game clock leaving less time for the opponent's offense. By taking less risk in the plays called, fewer turnovers occur- which results in fewer offensive series for the opponents and Doesn't give the opponents the ball on a short field (see Wesley v Mt).  By holding the ball longer on offense and converting more third downs, the opponent's offense can lose rhythm standing on the sideline.
Our offense, especially the run game, short passing game and Matt's ability to make plays with his running is the perfect offense to combat big play offenses like Mt and Wesley.

Thanks 02. Oldtimers has set in. I thought that Woodhead surpassed Kmic, not the other way around.

As I said before, if you're not worried, you don't care.

I find it amazing, though, that almost 70%, as of last check, believe the Warhawks will win. I doubt if there has ever been a margin such as this against UMU.  I think, in 2003, over 85% thought Mount was going to beat St John's. I'm just sayin'................
You are losing it.  I was the one who posted the correct info on Kmic/Woodhead.  LOL  ;) :D ;D

A sad note to pass along this morning....

Former UW-Whitewater All-Conference linebacker and team captain Art Gutierrez lost his battle with cancer yesterday.

A group of Art's former UW-Whitewater football teammates took the motto "once a Warhawk-Always a Warhawk" to heart by forming the Cure 54 Foundation in support of Gutierrez's second battle within a year with cancer. The group of former teammates took the lessons learned in the Whitewater football program into real life.

You can be sure that Art will be the Warhawks biggest cheerleader on Friday vs. Mount Union.

Rest in Peace Art
My deepest condolences to the Gutierrez family.  As 413 says, this is a hideous disease that has impacted so many families, including the Warhawk family.  Thoughts and prayers to all.

Save us the "if you're not worried, you don't care" psychobabble, retagent.  Not everyone is on your bandwagon. You are totally mistaken, IMHO, in believing that worrying is tied to caring. In fact worrying is the exact opposite of caring.

To me, caring isn't about showing that I care. It is me doing actions that make the situation better. Worrying is not caring. Caring is caring. Worrying is making the situation in your mind worse than the reality of what is actually happening.

I am not trying to pile on a lot of blame on the worriers out there. In fact, they are probably worrying about me picking on them right now.  ;)  Time to start living in the moment and be confident.

And, oh, btw, I like how you always seen to get a johnnie plug in ;). Do you have a link indicating the 85% 2003?  My guess is that nearly every Mount opponent in the Stagg in those days had about the same disapproval rating as the johns had in 2003, if an actual poll was conducted. D3football.com only shows front page polls back to 2006.

I was using my, albeit, shaky memory to remember the percentage of those who picked Mt Union (at that time) over SJU. They had around 10 people offer their opinions. I know that UWW is late to this elite team party - although you have come to it in a big way - but there was D III football before 2005. THe Mt had breezed through the Playoffs that year with winning margins over 40 points. I believe they won their Semi by over 50. Again, only my memory.

If you have children, you worry about them all the time. I would prefer that to mean that I care about their well being. If I'm wrong about that, you haven't convinced me. It's easy to say that worrying is not productive. I also believe that with my brain. It's hard to control the emotional side of the psyche though.

WarhawkDad

Sometimes I think I use the term worry, when I probably should have used the words nervous excitement or something similar. I tend to think that 02 and Emma use it the same way.  With that said I am nervous and excited about Friday night's game. But with how UWW has persevered and found ways to win during the regular season and executed beautifully in the last several weeks we are ready for the Stagg Bowl.

GO WARHAWKS!!!!
