Congratulations Warhawks.  A three peat is a great accomplishment.

13 - 10, UWW.  They are a machine, but MUC will play them tough and even score a late game TD to raise the tension.

EDIT: The only thing that will stop UWW is the final whistle.  Einstein never liked the cosmological constant, but that's only because he hadn't seen the proof of UWW inevitability.

Great victory, UWW, but I have to say that my prediction was pretty frickin' amazing.

Congrats to the Warhawks!

One benefit that I wasn't anticipating was that D-III seemed to get more highlights and better treatment on SportsCenter because of it. Saturdays are usually much busier and I'm sure D-II won't get that kind of treatment tonight.
After the lack of pre-game coverage.  it was great to see all the coverage on SportsCenter, both last night and today.

I believe the jury is still out on how people feel about the Friday night game. I am looking forward to those discussions.

3-PEAT BABY!!!

Just an observation from the UMU side of the field:  That was the smallest turn out of UWW fans I've ever seen in Salem.  I have to believe it's because of the Friday night game.  Is the game for the teams and their fans, or for ESPN?

I absolutely agree that the Friday night game had to affect the attendance.  Having to take the extra day of work/classes off to travel certainly didn't help.  I know that at the Mad Boar where we watched it, attendance was way down from the last few Saturday games and with a start time in the mid west of 6:00, many would have to go straight to their viewing location as no one would budge once kick off took place.  I wonder how many of the locals didn't show?  I talked to many over the years who took pride in always sitting with the team that was taking on the Raiders to help fill seats because of the close proximity to Alliance.   Nothing will change the media college level mentality regarding D3.  College football is played on Saturday and the Championship of any level should be, too, IMHO. Somebody said to me, "we are just the ugly stepchild," and I replied, "Heck, they don't even consider us family."  Sad but true.   >:( I haven't checked yet. Do know how the ratings went compared to years past?

I remember when I read this thinking you were crazy, especially, in light of the 6 previous scores.  Really, really impressive!   :o

Congratulations WARHAWKS! LL has won more national championships than he's lost games.......... btw, how do I change the signature again? I need to add something  ;D

Was just thinking of the irony of your Coach Z not getting that job, LL's amazing success, and Z's son being the best d3 player this year.  Would be interesting to know how things would have been any different in WW.  Pretty difficult to predict that things could have been any better than they are right now.

I think things worked out for the best. LL proved why he got the job over Z. PP made the right chioce.

Besides, in little Z's Gagliardi trophy interview with Keith, he mentioned how he always wanted to go away for college and get out of Whitewater. So if Z got the job as UWW head coach, there's was no gaurantee Michael would have been a Warhawk then.

Finally, nothing to worry about here.   ;D

till next year anyway

It was a great game.  Two defenses imposing their collective wills.  Those of us in Cooper's barn never left the edges of our seats.  Some of us couldn't even sit still for the final defensive stand.

Congrats to the WARHAWKS.  We are the champions!

That final drive was REALLY intense. UMU got the ball will plenty of time left on the clock and only down by three. our defense really stepped up. How about rosholt's 50-yard punt to pin the Raiders back on their own 16 to begin that final drive??!?! CLUTCH PUNT!!!!! Can't really say the same for Mount's punter, he had some doozies  :-\. I agree with Bobo, Rosholt could have been a very strong contender for Stagg Bowl MVP...especially kicking in those conditions. We're going to miss him next year.

I was kind of surprised on the offensive play calling later in the game. Looks like they got extremely conservative. Blanchard only attempt one pass in the fourth quarter. I guess they were content on going three and out, get a nice punt off, and let the defense do its thing and win the game. It turns out that strategy worked.

I was waiting for someone to bring this up.  Thought we were WAY too conservative a lot of the game, especially, in light of the fact that we moved the ball really well in the first drive.  Yes, Matt threw an interception but it was only the 4th all year and UMU was never going to let Coppage put 299 on them again! #1 on Mounts to-do list was going to be to shut him down and make Matt beat them but he really didn't get a chance to. Nothing too risky mind you, but we were never going to be able to put up too many points relying on mainly the run.  BALANCE!!!   I was going so nuts when we just called 3 running plays and punted the ball back to UMU with 2 minutes left and only leading by 3???? Are you kidding me?  Just move the chains a couple of times.  My better half had to tell me to, "calm down and watch the game."   >:(  And, yes, hard to argue with success but thank God the DEFENSE played lights out and was able to hold on that last UMU drive.  DEFENSE did, indeed, win this game!   8-)

Mount had a great turnout. We had a smaller, but very vocal group.  I think the Friday night game and the longer driving distance from Whitewater made it more difficult for UWW students to attend.
