UW-Whitewater's Levell Coppage and University of Wisconsin-La Crosse's Derek Dreher have been selected to the 2011 Associated Press Little All-America Football Team. Coppage was a first team selection, while Dreher received second team honors.

Coppage, a senior running back, was a second team choice the last two seasons. Dreher is a senior defensive back.

Here's an interesing post from the OAC board, from what looks like an ex-player.

We started to see signs of this when UWW beat UMU back in 2007. LK's son acting a fool and Garcon not shaking hands.

The reason I brought this to the WIAC board's attention is b/c this is one of my biggest fears as a UWW fan. I just hope the Warhawk coaching staff, players and fans can handle/control its success in years to come. When they eventually begin to lose, and come back down to earth, this is the last type of stuff I want to hear about or witness. I know this is probably a small sample size of UMU fans, but still...it's somthing I don't want to see at UWW.

I think that's why I don't take winning for granted each week...hence me being nervous about most games. I'm trying my best to NOT become "that" type of fan.

02,

Over the last 20 years some Raider supporters have, no doubt, become complacement with winning. When a program continues to win over that long stretch, playing 14-15 games each year, having great recruits, some lose interest. Many supporters, myself included treasure each season, realizing that we are fortuate to witness this program in our lifetime. Each year the team is different and great players like Garcon, Short, Kmic and Micheli make their contribution, but another season comes with new faces.
UWW's best player, Coppage, is now moving on, and yeah, the Warhawks will feel it like the Raiders have when one of their great players graduates. So, enjoy every victory like I have, since it is something we all will not see again! :)

The Warhawks went thru it when Beaver, Jones, and Donovan among others graduated and will again with this group of seniors although none of them at the NFL level of Garcone or Shorts.
The Warhawks will just reload for the 2012 season and go at it taking it one game at a time.
Hopfully the rumors via footballscoop about bielema talking to Liepold about a job at Wisconsin are not true and the Hawks are not looking for a new coach which would happer the "recruiting" efforts if the kids don't know who the head coach is going to be. If and he does leave.

Warhawkbabe, I think you're saying that there is a difference between losing top level DIII players and losing NFL players.  If so, I agree entirely.  No doubt losing Coppage and Blanchard and Arnold and the other seniors will be a loss, but the void just isn't the same as losing NFL players.  UWW will continue to be a strong running team because that is the system.  The defense will be strong and possibly even better in 2012.  The passing game will be strong with an experienced QB and very good receivers returning.

I agree it could be a negative with rumors of Coach LL possibly leaving.  Hopefully things will come clear soon.

Thats exactly what I am saying. Beaver,Jones, and all of the great Warhawk players are great players. However they are not on the same level as Garcone and Shorts. However those types of players only come around once in a while.

IMO, one of the reasons that Mount Union has not been able to beat UWW the past three years is that they have not had a "great" RB.  The Raiders were spoiled with Chuck Moore (98-01), Dan Pugh (99-02), a couple years of Aaron Robinson and then Nate "The Great" Kmic (05-08).

The Warhawks haven't had to focus on a feature RB, which allows them to play more Pass Defense.

Murray has 3,346 rushing yards in 10-11, but doesn't seem to have that ability to take over a game like Moore, Pugh and Kmic (or Beavers and Coppage) did.

Interesting theory. so was this past Stagg Bowl an exception then? Coppage (or anyone) didn't really run away with the game. Maybe the weather (or injuries) had something to do with that.

Seems like this game came down to which defense would make the bigger play.

A lot of us have to be thinking about it, so I'll be the first to bring it up.

If UWW runs the regular season table in 2012, that will give them 55 wins straight...which will tie UMU for the longest winning streak in college football history (any division).

I know the team won't be looking ahead, but that's the beauty of these message boards. What ever gets said here doesn't determine the outcome of games. So we can get away with it.

It won't be easy to do, but it's very doable.

Let's just focus on 46 for now.

I won't bother thinking about number 46 until July  ;)

02,

The only real obstacle for UWW in the regular 2012 season could be UW-Osh and QB Wara. Not sure how much they have returning or lose this year? :-\

Not to take anything away from Wara who's a nice player and perhaps Oshkosh will be the team to be concerned with.  I don't know who is returning otherwise but if we're just talking quarterbacks I'd be more concerned with Eau Claire's Austin Neu and Platteville's Nick Anderson.

I'm thinking Lacrosse will be a team to be reckoned with.  I also like Neu and Anderson.  I'm not sure about Oshkosh as I haven't checked their returning roster, it would be too bad if this was their best chance year.
