Looks like the Warhawks will open the season against WashU away:

Seriously old news Jedi!!  ;) That was out and reported months ago.  Now, if you could tell us about NC game #2, that would be sweet!!

If that is not sarcasm (which I'm too tired to detect right now), it's Buffalo State:

It's on the main site here too!  :P

Thanks

It looks like that completes the 2012 schedule.  Nonconference games with Point, Wash U and Buffalo State plus the slate of seven conference games.

And what about that 3rd National Championsip this school year!!!  Unbelievable!!  As one very talented player from my son's team posted on his FB page, winning is contagious!!  I was reminded that we actually have won 5 this year with the 2 wheelchair BB teams championships also but they are not considered varsity sports for the sake of setting records.  I wonder how many other schools at any level have had 3 Championships in a year?   Come on baseball!   ;D

It happened in 2009 when Wartburg was national champions in womens indoor and outdoor track as well as wrestling.  Then of course you had this year when the Knights won two national titles (womens indoor track and wrestling) on the same day.  I believe that has only happened once before in the NCAA at any level.  Some school won both mens and womens cross country on the same day.  I don't know whether or not the Wartburg womens track will be favored in the outdoor championships this year.  I would assume they would be expected to be in the mix.

+k, Jedi.

Been waiting to find out about that 10th game for the Warhawks.  Glad to see it's a home game.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

When I did some cross-referencing schedules with the rest of the WIAC, UWW in 2012 looked like this:

9-1   at Washington
9-15   Buffalo St
9-22   Stevens Pt (NC)
9-29   at Platteville
10-6   River Falls
10-13 at Stout
10-20    Oshkosh
10-27    at Stevens Pt
11-3    Eau Claire
11-10    at LaCrosse

That means that when I take my wife to Door County for a weekend, the Hawks are away and no Perk festivities will be missed.  Huzzah!   ;D

Another Fibby headed to UWW to play football

Collin Nolen - WR

Probably won't see him until 2013, at the earliest.

Word is that UW-Whitewater long snapper Casey Casper is drawing plenty of interest from a number of NFL teams.

Former NFL special teams coach Gary Zauner recently concluded his third annual Senior Specialist's Combine in Arizona.

A total of 64 specialists attended this year's Zauner Senior Specialist's Combine and, from that group, Zauner concluded that 21 of them have NFL potential, including nine long snappers.  Among the nine listed is Casey Casper.

With 21% of last years UWW roster coming from the land of lincoln, one would think the "Fibby" type jokes would subside.

Just remember #15 and #33 are from south of the border, and from the looks of recruiting LL is only adding IL recruits.

tounge-in-cheek my friend...I myself am a Fibby, that's why I joke about it.

We have fib jokes and they have the cheesehead thing.  Seems like an even draw to me.  ;D

In the FIB vs. Cheese discussion it reminded me I came across an old Justin Beaver highlight video the other day.  Coppage has been so great for 4 years that it's easy to forget just how good Beaver was.  I'd have a real hard time picking between the two if I had to select a #1 back.

It's been an amazing 7+ year run for WW fans having, arguably, the two greatest WIAC RB's playing back to back (and two of D3's greatest, too). I, for one, have not forgotten how good Beaver was. That long run just before the end of the first half in the 07 Stagg when he sent Mount's #6 D. Ely flying on his back at the tail end stands out as one of the most outstanding plays of my recent memory. I couldn't even imagine picking one over the other. Two things I'm pretty sure of - 1. WW has had GREAT offensive lines leading the way all throughout this run & 2. Whoever the next guy is, he's got some monster shoes to fill!! Whether it's Stanford or someone else, I'm willing to bet they know what they're getting themselves into.  ;)
