Has anyone seen the 2011 National Championship DVD for sale?   I must be missing it somewhere.  Also, I am looking for the 2010 game as well.  Our copy disappeared!

If you're still missing it by the time the season comes around, I can burn you a copy and give it to you when I see you at the Perking lot.

footballscoop is reporting a possible situation within the football program at UW-Stevens Point. Here's what they have to report:

"Wisconsin Stevens-Point (D-III): At the end of March UWSP posted their head coaching position. At that time, sources close to the program told us this was a "formality" as long time head coach John Miech had stepped down the the University quickly promoted Tom Journell to head coach in December. However, we have heard from multiple sources recently that something is afoot at UWSP. We've heard that two defensive coaches have announced within the last week that they are leaving the program. Perhaps the posting isn't just a formality. We'll keep you posted."

Interesting..One of the things I'm working on for my blog, when the season comes around, is the new coaches around the WIAC. This bit of information will fit nicely in my story.

I'm not normally one to post things like this, but the Head Baseball Coach at our school is 31 Years old and not in good shape.  He has had some Heart issues his whole liife and last summer collapsed on the field and had to have a pacemaker installed.  Last fall he was back out on the field coaching and in the classroom teaching Chemistry.  At the beginning of Spring Baseball he was having some more health issues and he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer than is now rapidly spreading throughout his body.

A couple of his students (girls, not baseball players) wrote an essay about his struggles and now the team is a finalist to win new Uniforms from Allan's Sporting Goods.

If you can, please vote for the team!  You can vote daily for another week or so, and it it very easy to do if you have a Facebook account.

Here Are a couple of newspaper articles on Coach Kunick:

Fivay baseball coach's lessons still resonate in his absence

Baseball helps coach keep mind off cancer battle

Sadly, Coach Kunick lost his battle with Cancer this morning.  Please keep voting to help honor his memory.

Looking back at old emails, I received my 2010 Stagg Bowl DVD confirmation email on 3/29/11. Being that it's almost May, I'm thinking they are not going to produce one. I just responded to that old email, asking if they plan on releasing the 2011 game, but I'm not holding my breath to get an answer.

I notice NCCA On Demand site changed how they are selling their DVDs. Looks like they are using Amazon.com as their platform now, and are cutting back the numbers of DVDs this year. I guess DIII didn't make the cut.

The Milw Journal Sentinel has a lengthy article about Michael Zweifel coming in for a tryout online today.

At the end of the article:

"Among the other players being brought in for tryouts during the rookie camp, which begins May 11-13:

P Kris Rosholt, UW-Whitewater; LB Eltoro Freeman, Auburn; LB Luke Lambert, Missouri; DL Grant Cook, Arkansas; G Tyler Butzler, UW-Stout; K Dave Nadeau, Minnesota-Duluth; LS Casey Casper, UW-Whitewater; OT Andrew Lambert, Indiana; and DE Jaymar Latchison, New Mexico."

Michael Hunt of the Journal Sentinel suggests UWM should hire LL to build a football program.

He also says they should change their name to the University of Milwaukee. Says it worked for Louisville, Cincinnati, and Pitt among others.  Funny, I'm old as dirt, but I don't remember them being called the University of Kentucky-Louisville, the University of Ohio-Cincinnati or the University of Pennsyvania-Pittsburgh and then changing their name and suddenly thriving!!

BTW, besides hiring LL to re-start the football program, he suggests playing at Shorewood H.S. on second-hand bleachers that they would find at some condemned stadium ready to be razed. What better way to kick-start a football program.

kitchensink was being too kind. It's Michael Hunt's worst article ever!!  ;)

Any news re: Blanchard? He was the one I thought would be the first to go.
