How good are Matt Blanchard's chances of making the Bear's roster and who is leading
competition? I sure hope is part of the 54 man roster! :)

I'm not an expert but I've seen Jay Cutler play many times. Honestly, how much worse could Blanchard be?  ;)

Trust me I've been called worse. Just back from bass fishing. I caught more bass today than I've ever caught in one day before. They were hitting my purple rubber worm like crazy. The only problem was that they were mostly small ones under two pounds. Though the last two I caught were nice. One weighed in at 5 1/4 lbs, 22 inches and the other 3 1/2 lbs, 18 inches. My friend took pictures of the big one with my cell phone but he forgot to save them. BTW, does anyone know why they don't have an NFL franchise in Iowa? Because then they have to locate one in Illinois. :D :D ;)

BW - knowing that their are daily limits on bass I sure hope someone from the DNR isn't a fan of this chat room!

Will UWW wear the Black Jersey's they wore in this past Stagg Bowl during the regular season at all?

It seems like the football program has a New Balance deal, Any chance a big company (Nike, Under Armour, Adidas) comes in and gives them a bid?

Also with the consecutive wins record about to be broken any chance ESPN Gameday would ever come to the Perk?  Wishful thinking I know, but I would love it!!!

Go Hawks!!!

Can't answer the first two questions. But I would say 'no' to your third question. I don't think there's anyway they would come out here.

As far as Blanchard goes, I can't wait to see him compete the preseason games. Hopefully they air a game or two up here in WI.

My fishing partner and I are strictly catch and release.  We both like catching fish.  Neither of us likes cleaning fish.  Release them and they live to catch another day.

I contacted ESPN last year in an effort to possibly pursade ESPN Gameday to the Perk. I was told that each week's Gameday site is directly associated with ESPN's top televised game of the day. So much for the Perk. I was told that ESPN planned to do an indepth feature on UWW-Mount VII last year at the Stagg. I don't think that happened. BTW... by the time the Stagg Bowl comes around Gameday has ended for the season.

I do know for a fact that ESPN is very aware of the UW-Whitewater story - nation leading 45 game win streak, three-time defending Division III national champions, school winning both football and men's basketball national titles last year. Perhaps a U-Dub-Dub football feature to be placed into an ESPN Gameday Show this season is in the offing?? Sure hope so!

I don't believe ESPN for a second on that statement. They've done DIII games in the past, and I highly doubt it was "ESPN's top televised game of the day" on that particular Saturday.

ESPN2's Cold Pizza came to Mount Union in November 2010.  I don't remember the Gameday crew ever visiting Alliance, but I'm fairly confident they covered it both times MTU beat the streak (54 and 55 games).

02... I didn't mean ESPN was going to do Gameday at the Perk as the host site for a particular national Gameday site. What they could do is a three-minute segment (for instance) on the UW-Whitewater football story. BTW - Hawks report to training camp on Friday August 9th!

...badgerwarhawk - you're one of the others!!  ;)

Thanks Bobo- nice picture.
My gal and I made the trip to da Bears Camp yesterday.  Driving home she said "It's just sinking in that we watched Matt actually practicing on the Chicago Bears and the fact is- he looks like he completely belongs there."

As you can imagine there were lots of individual and group drills- and Cutler and Campbell get the reps w Marshall (Beast) and the other starters. Matt ran the third offense for the only live scrimmage at the end of practice.  Matt threw very well (4 of 5) and showed his athleticism w a scramble.

Saturday night's practice drew 12,000 fans.

That would be very cool if they ended up doing something hat. But, unfortunately, ESPN realizes that 90% of its audience has little to no interest in anything DIII related. Even if it involves breaking NCAA records.

But I would hope they would do something IF we do find ourselves undefeated at the end of the regular season, but we'll see.

"You mean WHEN you are undefeated at the end of the regular season, right?"

This comment reminds me- UWW plays Buffalo State the second game (week 3). Buff St had a respectable record last year playing a very good schedule. They open with 2 tough opponents before coming to UWW.  Just a reminder that as with every year, most every UWW opponent can be the streak-breaker.
