D3football Preseason top 25 is out

1.  UWW  616 pts. (17 first place votes)  Surprisingly, one voter, I believe, has UWW ranked #3  ???
2.  UMU   608 pts. (8 first place votes)

23. Platteville 96 pts. (this is not a misprint - I double checked!)
RV  Oshkosh  35 pts.

I was talking with one rather knowlegeable WIAC football fan last night. The conversation was about what conference team will be the strongest behind UWW at the top of the WIAC. His answer was unequivocally UW-Platteville. The Pioneers finished 2nd in the conference last year and featured the WIAC's No. 2 defense (scoring & rushing D). UWP returns eight offensive starters, nine more on defense.  If you remember last year Platteville was tied at 14-all at halftime of its game at Whitewater and trailed by just 6 points heading into the 4th quarter.  The question will be can the Pioneers repeat its defensive effort this season.

He's the only kicker on the list to teach and play "Fistball."  I would say, with his feet or with his  hands, he's got to be the best!!  What the heck is "fistball" though?

Wasn't there another Warhawk Fistballer a couple years back?  I feel I watched a You Tube video of him.

Kindler was a freshman a couple years back, and it was talked about then.  ;)

Thanks 02- for whatever reason I thought the story was older than Kindler's tenure.

So who will provide the first report of the new recruits that show up for camp?
BW will you be there?  I'm itching to see what rumors were true.

I'm just itching to hear the rumors?

I think it's just the usual stuff you hear every year.  "So and so O-lineman might be transfering, such and such big D-lineman is coming,  Levell's replacement could be coming, stud receiver, etc."

Justin Beaver was followed immediately by Levell Coppage - we all know how that story turned out.  It will be very interesting to see how the running back spot transpires in a couple of weeks.  Will there be one of those "can't miss freshmen" coming in?  do the Hawks have a transfer coming in? Will the guys back from last year (Desmond Ward, Byron Stanford, et al) make a step up?  It will be a major story for UWW training camp.  I'll be producing Warhawk Training Camp Reports on KOOL 106.5 (and avaiable online) beginning a week from today.  The reports will run daily (Monday through Friday) right up to the Hawks season opener on Friday 8/31 down in St. Louis.  I'm ready, the Hawks are ready, are you ready??  GO WARHAWKS !!!

...with stud receiver you mean that big TE "recruit" with the good hands?  Let's hope he can block some too.  ;)

Platteville's new scoreboard. There seems to be a lot of these going up around DIII this off season.

I wasn't thinking of him as I figure his story is beyond rumor now- and I sure hope he can block.
Rumor has it (btw who is the father of Adele's child?) that there could be impact players in some of those positions mentioned above.

Don't know if you guys get to see any of the Olympic field hockey competition (maybe you've seen the pictures of the hot Dutch women, though), but we get a lot of it here. Since we had the discussion last month about colored turf, I thought I'd send you a shot from SBS TV here showing the beautifull colors of the turf on the field hockey playing surface. In this match, the Korean men are playing New Zealand and won 2-0 from a few days ago. When the sun is shining, the fuchsia surrounding the field looks electric, but I still wouldn't want it on my field.  :o

One that got away.  That's why they don't announce recruits until camp is about to open.

BoBo scooped me big time!!!  I've actually been privy to the 2012 recruiting list for about six weeks.  I played by the rules and respected Coach Leipold's request (as in previous years) to "keep a lid" on recruits until they ACTUALLY REPORT for preseason practice.

UWW's amazing success has had a direct impact on the recruiting process.  UWW SID Tom Fick has done a masterful job on putting a face on this year's recruiting class.

BoBo - great job on getting the recruiting list here in the WIAC/D3football.com chat room

Now that the "cats out of the bag" it is time to hit the field.
