What were some of better questions asked, and what was his response to them?

What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

He was asked, "what made his second year at the helm easier than the first, he didn't start his answer by talking about X's and O's."

Working unfamiliar technology and moving around a new campus?  I totally get it.  Let's hope he, "finds winning hard," but given another season or two digging the Eagles out of that hole they are in, I am not expecting it.   ;)

413, seriously, you can understand that?

I guess I was thinking that since he's a relatively young guy with 2 master degrees, that he would be a bit more tech-savvy than he comes across as in the beginning of that story. I don't understand his confusion.

BTW, how could he even answer that question considering he's yet to play a game in his 2nd season? I'm not English major, but it seems the question is asked in the past tense ("...what made his 2nd season...?" ).  retagent, what do you think?

Yup, just saying that I understand that there can be a learning curve when it comes to a new job in a new environment even for the highly educated.  As for the past tense, maybe that explains his focus on the administrative aspect of his job.  Doesn't have a second season under his belt yet.  I'm with BW and expect the Eagles to make big strides the next couple of season even though this years schedule could be pretty brutal on the W/L stat.

I agree. In most cases when people start new jobs, it does take a little time to find your comfort zone. No matter how smart you are. There are new faces, new surroundings, new way of doing things, etc....

I say most cases because Leipold seems to be the exception to the norm. He didn't do too shabby his first year at Whitewater  :)

It can be confusing when all of the lightswitches on campus look like this:

http://www.homedepot.com/Electrical-Dimmers-Switches-Outlets-Dimmers/h_d1/N-5yc1vZc34iZ1z11a2u/R-100671802/h_d2/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&storeId=10051

I think the point was to show how in his second year Dettwiler is now accustomed to his surroundings and doesn't have to worry about trivial things like this, not that he's not smart enough to operate a lightswitch.

Poppycock 02...it wasn't like he was hired in the days leading up to preseason camp. He had been on campus for months - more than enough time to acclimate himself to the campus/city. Anyone who allows those factors to rule their domain, probably isn't ready to lead. Being in similar situations many times in my life (and as a UW-L grad), I find it a little disturbing that he wasn't able to adapt to the higher pay grade, responsibilities and surroundings in a more timely fashion. His unpreparedness probably rubbed off on his team. I'm probably making a mountain out of a mole hill, but when I read what he said, something just did sit right with me. I've spilled my 2 cents...only time will tell how they will perform this year.

As posted photos note, Da Coach was in Eau Claire... He was apparently in the area for a Junior Achievement golf outing...

Most people don't think of lttle Lakeland College in Sheboygan as a "destination spot" for a big name now comes word that Lakeland College has hired NFL hall of famer Kellen Winslow as athletic director.
