voice, is DL Lendell Buckner in camp? Did he begin his career at Illinois? Do you know his story?

Buckner apparently isn't in camp. At least he isn't listed on my training camp roster.  Buckner was a blue-chip recruit for the Illini in 2008 and was redshirted his freshman season. From there he disappeared and never played and wasn't on Illinois' 2009 roster.

I saw him on the original training camp roster. His story is exactly what I researched. Seems like a mystery man.

As previously posted, Matt Blanchard's only playing time vs. the Redskins last night was for the final 2:04 of the game when he drove the Bears to set up Robbie Golds's game winning 57 yard field goal with 36 seconds left. In today's Chicago Tribune Gold gives some "love" to Blanchard: Everyone did a great job. That's what you're supposed to do. You step up and make plays and everyone did that tonight. (Matt) Blanchard did a great job with the offense, leading them down the field and we were lucky enough to get in range and hit a good ball."[/i1

Great for Matt! As someone said earlier, let's hope the Bears see what we are seeing.

Love the All White's. My question is why isn't there a blue top/orange pants combo? I think those would look pretty sweet, especially with a white helmet. Cool look all around.

McCown or Blanchard?......I take Blanchard.....

Matt engineering the game-winning drive last night was huge.  If he impresses again next week I think he'll beat McCown out for the No. 3 quarterback spot on the regular season roster.  My thinking is the Bears will go with Blanchard instead of paying McCown "veteran money" as a third string QB. Hey - we're talking about the Bears here!!!! lol

Great points, Voice.  And let's not forget, McCown was coaching high school before they pulled him in after Jay was injured last season. He did squat last night!  Once again, Matt shows great poise, this time engineering a 2 minute drill to win the game when the Redskins were blitzing him like crazy!!!  It wasn't pretty but it worked well enough to get the win.  He, totally, looks and plays like he belongs.  I have a pic from the tailgate that I have permission to share on here if I can ever figure out how to do it.

413... I've already downloaded the tailgate photo with you, Steve and the Blanchards and I plan to incorporate the photo in one of my Matt Blanchard Warhawkfootball.com Newswire stories later this week.

Well, that was easy.   Good thing I had their blessing to post it on Facebook.  We'll see what your readers think of my t-shirt!   ;D

Haven't watched the Bears game yet. I wasn't impressed with the stats when I saw them, but the context provided above has me leaning away from that. When you're in FG position, and a FG will win it for you, the main goal is not throwing an interception, or otherwise turning the ball over. If he was throwing the ball where only the receiver had a chance, that's SMART. I'm assuming that was his mindset. It's on NFL Network at 3:00, so I'll watch his involvement - at least. As I said, he was, without doubt, better than McKown last week. Sounds like everyone here is still on that wavelength.

Nice find. That might give me an idea for a blog story: Programs no longer a part of The WIAC. I'm sure if I can dig a little I can find some interesting stuff.

Saw the Bears game with Blanchard in at QB - thought he did a nice job, and hope to see more of him.  Love it when a DIII guy gets some NFL love :)
