Anyone on here follow UWEC?  Any words of wisdom on the Blugolds?

I think they will have one of the more explosive offenses in the WIAC. I really like Neu, and I think Sweeney will have a breakout year, now that he isn't splitting carries.

Does Sweeney's weight/athleticism look like a problem this year?  It seems like he gets bigger and slower by the year.

I'm still waiting on UWEC to update its football site...they still have last year's info on it. So I can't tell for certain how he came into camp.

Regardless, the opportunity for him to shine this year is definiltely there.

Thanks for the UWL info.  Anyone on here follow UWEC?  Any words of wisdom on the Blugolds?  I don't see too many posters other than UWW???

Unfortunately the rest of us don't have players in the NFL to post about  ;). ( I do wish best of luck to Blanchard BTW. His success reflects well on not just UWW or the WIAC but D3 football in general.)

As for UWEC I have to echo the sentiments of 02. Neu was a top performer in the league last year and there are flashes were it looks like Sweeney's got what it takes to be a real force but for whatever reason, weight and number of carries already cited by others as possibilities, he hasn't put it all together so far. That being said the guy is only in his 3rd year and I have little doubt he will leave his mark before he moves on.

Bleed- I used to like you. Blanchard becoming a Packer!

How about his 3rd down pass to the Tight End crossing?  Perfectly thrown- in the face of pressure.
He is gaining popularity down here.

Think of how I must feel! Blanchard IS a Bear! It's harder to pretend I hate them now. ( I HAVE to pretend I hate them. And I do hate them when they play the Pack, but for whatever reason, when they are playing teams from other areas of the country I find myself rooting for them. Maybe it's a sibling rivalry thing...)

But Matt makes the Bears 53 man roster, that changes everything.  They will immediately jump to my second favorite team as long as he is there.  Never thought I'd say THAT!  ;)

even though i'm a fan of UWW, I've always enjoyed reading what people think of other programs around the WIAC. I wish more would wiegh in....but I know some shy away from this thread because of all the UWW fans.

Hopefully I'll be reading more from you (and wiacfbfan's) posts.

Mr. Ypsi

Alas, virtually all boards suffer from domination by fans of the dominant team(s).  It's probably just human nature.  Unless they are 'pigs' about it, I don't think the 'dominant' posters scare off others, so much as it is hard to summon much desire to post when the best you can manage is 'woohoo, my team might make it to 6th place this season!'. :P

ScreamingEagles

I've been lurking for a while, and for the longest time it didn't really seem worth it to post when virtually all of the discussion was about UWW.  And once in a blue moon someone would bring up UWL, and Voice posts "THE COMEBACK!!!!!!" video to remind any UWL fan that remained on the boards the last time UWL was truly competitive.   ;D

I guess I've just decided to post anyway and hope that others from all other non UWW schools do as well.

WIACFBFAN: I'm with you all the way. Looking for a good step foward for the Eagles this year, behind a strong offensive line. Thanks for sharing the Tribune article with the rest of the posters. I can remember many years when UWL was the top dog in the league, and hope to see those days again. It's on my bucket list. Let's hope for 5 or 6 wins this year against a brutal schedule.

Like I've said before, I believe that UWL will be much improved this year.  I'm not sure how that translates into wins with a tough schedule again this year, but I do agree that 5 or 6 wins would be considered a successful campaign.  They should be able to run the ball on anyone, which they did at times last year (against Oshkosh) and couldn't at others (against RF).

Dettwiler is on the right path with the team.  He has brought structure and an intensity that was lacking for many years.  I see no reason why the Eagles won't be perennial WIAC title contenders within the next few years.

Waiting for the season to begin is a lesson in patience. Here's another throwback ...a little larger school UW Milwaukee. Wisconsin roots but  I'm not sure they were still in the conference (or it's predecessor) at this time.   For what it's worth...

As for Eau Claire....or Stevens Point...or Platteville....or Stout.....or River Falls....or Oshkosh.  If they come...just promise you won't send them running.....speaking of running.  Let's talk track someday.  Oh wait that's another board... ;)

Beginning my final week of radiation and chemo today.  For the first time over the weekend I questioned if I will be able to travel down to St. Louis at the end of the month to watch UWW open the season at Wash U.  Being able to attend the game has been my motivation but for the first time I'm not so sure travelling would be in my best interest.  I have to get back into that "one day at a time" attitude don't I?

Meanwhile: I will never adequately be able to thank those of you who have gratiously made donations to my daughter's Team Tom Cancer Fund Web Site.

Your generosity has been totally humbling for me and my family!!!

Keep up the good fight, and please know I'll be thinking about you over here on the East Coast too :)  Funny how real life struggles make things like football seem so insignificant yet so very important as an entertaining escape, all at the same time.  Sure hope you get to that game.

There's a good chance that hurtrampf could lead the WIAC in rushing this year. I wonder if defenses will stack the line against LX, and force their inexperienced QBs to beat them.

Listening to the latest voice podcast it was great to hear LL state that Steve McCollom has returned after his season ending injury last season. If he is able to perform any where close to what he did during his last game of 2010, he'll make an already strong DB lineup that much better.

Don't know about anybody else, but I'm ready for kickoff!!  ;)

Yea, me too. It should come out sometime in the afternoon. It'll be my nice little birthday treat.
