Listening to the latest voice podcast it was great to hear LL state that Steve McCollom has returned after his season ending injury last season. If he is able to perform any where close to what he did during his last game of 2010, he'll make an already strong DB lineup that much better.

Don't know about anybody else, but I'm ready for kickoff!!  ;)

McCollum will be just fine and the defensive backfield will be a strength.

I've been lurking for a while, and for the longest time it didn't really seem worth it to post when virtually all of the discussion was about UWW.  And once in a blue moon someone would bring up UWL, and Voice posts "THE COMEBACK!!!!!!" video to remind any UWL fan that remained on the boards the last time UWL was truly competitive.   ;D

I guess I've just decided to post anyway and hope that others from all other non UWW schools do as well.
Yeah, I did some reading back through the posts and noticed that all discussion seems to lead to UWW somehow  ::)  But I'm ready to talk WIAC.  There are plenty of good athletes out there that do not play on UWW that are worthy of chatter, and every player works hard.  To me, following a team does not mean they have to be the best, I am still interested in how they perform and who's doing what.  (I'm just hoping the Packers don't follow the Brewers lead this year - but that's another forum)  Although winning certainly is nice!
Not sure about Sweeney.  He did come back last year not in as good of shape as he was his freshman year.  But I would think he wants to make his mark and now would be a good time.  Neu was good, but Blugolds lost a lot of receivers and TEs.  Not sure about defense last year either.
I heard they had over 140 players out this year.   But I have not heard anything about who the recruits/transfers are.
Anyone know about UWP?  They looked good last year, too bad on the injuries.

UWP will be very good, especially with everyone healthy. They have a ton of talent returning for Emendorfer to be optimistic about. I like their QB (Anderson) a lot...he's very athletic. I think their game against Oshkosh will be one of the better games in the WIAC this season. Plus they host Whitewater this year.

Yea, me too. It should come out sometime in the afternoon. It'll be my nice little birthday treat.

I'm sorry, I don't mean Kickoff (although that will be nice, too), I mean kickoff - the real thing on Aug 31st!!  ;)

I guess I can delete my post but I can't edit it.  Anyway...didn't mean to sound sour on UWW.  Sounds like you guys are diehard fans and enthusiastic.  But I hope we have more WIAC discussion.  Sounds like competition is going to be stiff this year.
Is there any team that is not expected to be as good as they were due to losing a lot of seniors or whatever?
Blugolds have their scrimmage tomorrow.  Right now the plan is to attend although work can interfere.  Although I can't always tell much from a scrimmage, particularly if they are trying out all 140+ players, but perhaps I will have something to add to the conversation.  Maybe I can bring a scale and have Sweeney step on it??  8-)

Welcome to the board Couch and please keep posting. I very much enjoy reading about the rest of the WIAC teams. Part of the problem for me is that I don't have the familiarity with the other teams except for what I read or if I see them play UWW. We (I) need fans of the other teams to provide more insight into the teams and players.

Stout and Point will be rebuilding, so they might be a couple of years away from competing.

I guess you gentlemen missed the nod to those perennial "losers" St John's in the college football issue of SI.

Here's another team 02 and I see eye to eye on. If UWP stays relatively healthy they are a dangerous squad. The team is loaded with seniors. And not just run of the mill seniors either, they're talented and many have seen significant playing time since their sophomore years.

I understand the respect for USP as they are certainly talented and experienced.  I'm not convinced they are "there" yet, which IMO means they can't lose more than once in conference.  The new uni's are cool though.

Beginning my final week of radiation and chemo today.  For the first time over the weekend I questioned if I will be able to travel down to St. Louis at the end of the month to watch UWW open the season at Wash U.  Being able to attend the game has been my motivation but for the first time I'm not so sure travelling would be in my best interest.  I have to get back into that "one day at a time" attitude don't I?

Meanwhile: I will never adequately be able to thank those of you who have gratiously made donations to my daughter's Team Tom Cancer Fund Web Site.

Your generosity has been totally humbling for me and my family!!

I am so glad you posted this.  I was unaware of the fund.  I will be making my donation soon. In the middle of traveling right now.  Hope you feel well enough to travel to the game but taking care of yourself is what is most important right now.  Focusing on kicking cancers butt is your first priority!  Thoughts and prayers are with you!!

A big, warm welcome to the new and returning posters.  We, UWW posters, are an enthusiastic and loyal bunch but, of course, it is hard to discuss other WiAC teams without other WIAC posters as much as we might like to.  Your input is appreciated as well as needed.  Please join the WIAC pick em's found on the pick em's link on the D3 boards home page as well.   :)

Sure many here are familiar with Todd Hoffner. Former Eau Claire coach, now at Minnesota State Mankato, was arrested today on child porn charges. He had been escorted off the field last week under mysterious circumstances.
