BleedP--Reports from Falcon practices are positive. Those close to the program are saying 3 wins is possible. Simpson, UST, Stout start could be 2-1 for the first 3. We have a new rb, McCune, from Elmwood, who could, could I say, be very good. We are stronger at almost every position, according to one observer very close to the program. And....so far we're unbeaten!

How bad are fans, alumn, ect....begging for a new stadium? I think that'll do wonders for that program.

Isn't UWRF getting a new gym either this year or next? I thought I read that somewhere.

Oh no, don't tell me they are going to become one of those...."baaasketball schooools"  ;)

Eau Claire conducts own investigation into Hoffner's past

That's interesting that Eau Claire is doing this.  I guess it's better to be proactive than have the FBI show up on your doorstep.

The charges against Hoffner are appaling.  One thing that stuck out to me in the little info we have on this, is that a university employee found evidence on his work cell phone that he turned in to get repaired.  How stupid was he to do something this bad and save it to his work cell phone, much less turn that phone in with incriminating items on it?  Blows my mind.

Actually, as Chad Courrier at the Mankato paper said, after reading the charges, it might be best to actually let the case play out.

This could actually turn in to an interesting legal situation. What if there is nothing on his computers. Lots of parents have naked pictures of their young children. Perhaps videos adds something to it, I don't know. But what if it's just -- and I realize just should maybe be in air quotes there because it could be something terrible -- three videos of his own kids.

His attorney (who obviously will put his best spin on it):

Quote
fter the hearing, Fleming again said the videos, as described, weren't necessarily pornographic. He also said they were "private family moments that were videotaped.

"There is nothing in that video that is descriptive, graphic, abusive or exploitative," he said.

And perhaps you could argue that he was stupid to bring the phone in because he does think it's nothing, that he did think it was just a normal family video.

Obviously we'll see if they find other things on computer or whatever, but it just seems like it could be a complicated, not necessarily black-and-white case. It's possible there was nothing criminal.

Never thought I'd say this about newspaper website comments, but I think there are some good ones on this one.

I have read differing viewpoints regards to Hoffner.  A couple articles say the defense says it was just a family video, one of those things and nothing to be alarmed about.  But then I found this.

IF THIS IS TRUE, and I guess we have to wait and see before condemning him, it is pretty awful.  But you do have to wonder how anyone could be so stupid as to turn his phone in  if he knew there was a video like that on it.
I certainly hope nothing comes up in any of the school investigations regarding students.  I feel so sorry for the family.  It has to be horrible for them.

Voice asked me to let you know that his training camp podcast will not be available until sometime Friday due to his computer crashing.

Regarding Hoffner - I wasn't aware that the charges involved videos of his own children.  Many parents have photos/videos of their young children when they are naked.  We'll just have to see how it plays out as his intentions and other details still aren't clear.  It could be as bad as we all initially thought, but it doesn't look like it.

The fact that they are videos of his own children changes my perception of the situation some.  I'll be interested in knowing what, if anything, they find on his home computers.  I don't know why someone would have videos like that on their phone but if they don't find anything else I'm not so sure that the authorities response hasn't been an over reaction.

according to the Eau Claire paper, the kids are 5,8,9.  We definitely have to wait and see how it all plays out, but in my daddy world....that's a little old for naked pictures.  But my heart goes out to those kids.  Whether or not it is truly a case of child abuse, the publicity has got to be awful.  Makes me wonder if the news media really has to give all the details.  Eau claire paper/tv declined to comment previously on who the children were but I guess they gave up since Mankato is publishing the details.

I picked up some info on the Warhawks- most of it isn't new, but at least it's confirmation.
We all know about the defense- especially the LB's and Secondary.
-Josh Williams is back in the mix at LB and the coaches feel this could be one of the best units they've had.
-The Secondary is top notch- again could be one of the best units they've had.
-Some injuries to D Line, but they don't sound season ending.
-Lee Brekke looking very good at QB- he put serious effort in the off season.  A couple other QB's looking ready to step in to back up role.
-The running back pool is deep with talent- both young and veteran.  Pound the Rock will take on new meaning with D Ward- 240+ lbs.  R Givens and others will be true "change of pace" guys.
-Receivers are ready and Freshman receivers are deep and talented- look for contributions.  Another possible best class.
-O-Line as usual is coming on.  Very good returning experience, transfers and a talented underclass crop of guys- athletic.
-Kicking game- Place kicker is set of course w Kindler- possible he takes on both roles- and possible a new kid makes a big splash at punter- will know more soon.

I believe the cuts take place this weekend if not sooner- 30 or so kids will be told they didn't make it.  The cuts get harder every year as the talent level/commitment of the recruits gets higher.

Great to hear Josh W is back in pads.  He was so impressive starting as a young freshman, if he is healthy .... woo, boy.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!
