Bleedpurple,

From past experience I can tell you that Stretch Internet video feeds like Wash U. has do work on iPhones and other mobile devices.

Thanks JB!

Just posted this week's schedule on the WIAC pick em's board.  Remember that the first game this week is FRIDAY NIGHT so get them in several hours before the first game's scheduled kick-off time each week so I don't have to worry about time changes across the country.  ;)  Feel free to let me know if you see anything incorrect as we move through the season.  Best of luck to all!

The La Crosse Tribune website has an article about UWL's cornerbacks, and the effort to replace the graduated Derek Dreher. It appears we have numbers, but not much experience at the position. Six days until the season opener. I'm getting fired up.

Just to show everyone that I really have no life I just spent the past 30 minutes watching the Weather Channel.

The latest storm track suggests that the remnants of Hurricane Isaak could affect St. Louis' weather for Friday night's UWW game at Wash U.  The potential for "significant" rain will exist for the St. Louis area from Thursday through Friday if the storm stays on its current track.

Just an initial heads up for those of you heading down to the game.

As we get set to kick off a new season on Friday I thought it would be fun to go back to the 2005 national quarterfinal match-up when No. 2 ranked UWW travelled out to McMinnville, Oregon to take on No. 1 ranked and defending national champion Linfield College.  The Hawks won the game 44-41 in what most people consider one of the great games in Division III football history.

The Linfield fan Website (http://catdomealumni.blogspot.com/) has the video highlights of the game...

Enjoy and get fired up for another run here in 2012!!

I never forget "The Game" nor the ebb and flow of emotion of the 50-60 of us that had gathered at Saxes to listen to the broadcast.  The place went literally insane when Justin took the ball to the end zone for the game winner and then we all held our breath for the final 40 seconds.  The way the game had gone no one was certain that we had won.

Alright I'm ready for the season to start now. Holy cow what a game. Can't wait to see that excitement again.

I just read that the Bears cut Matt Blanchard. I don't know if this is a standard procedure before setting the practice squad- I sure hope Matt gets a shot somewhere. Whatever happens, he made Warhawk nation proud.

For the most part practice squad players are chosen from those who are part of the final cut on either the team they were associated with or some other team.  Cutting Matt now is more than likely an indication that the Bears aren't planning on adding him to their practice squad.  It's unfortunate, he was doing so well.

Why they would cut him and keep a slug like McCown baffles me.  But they are the Bears.

Bears should have definitely kept Blanchard over McCown.
In watching the preseason games so far, I think Blanchard looked better.
And the bottom line--At 33, McCown isn't going anywhere but the scrap heap.
Blanchard was the choice on potential alone.

I wanted to share some other news from the UWL football family.  Jason Church, who played FB and DE for UWL from 2007-2010, was on a mission in Afghanistan last week when his vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb.  Jason lost both of his legs below the knee, and suffered a serious injury to his right arm.  I ask all of you to please keep Jason and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

I've read some talk on Twitter that says the Bears may not keep McCown either... and only have two QB's on the 53. That could potentially open the door to Blanchard on the practice squad, though it doesn't seem likely.

This is just awful.  I will be praying for Jason and his family.  He is a genuine hero and it sounds like he has the courage this fight will require.  We all owe Jason a debt of gratitude.
