With that logic, schools from the NJAC should always beat a Mount Union?

Off topic (sorry) but does anyone know what happened to josh williams. And congrats to  Blanchard. I'll be waiting for the day when he leads the Bears to victory over the Pack. :):) BTW '02, hope you enjoyed your trip to Naperville.

Josh Williams from Downers Grove South must be like 4 or 5 on the depth chart right now.  He looked good on a couple of scrimmages but there are several more with more experience ahead of him right now.

WarhawkDad

Looks like Mr. Williams is following in his brother's footsteps down in Elmhurst. I guess he didn't want to wait his turn at UWW....oh well. We're deep at RB anyways  :)

Elmhurst Box Score from Saturday

How do you get a rushing TD without any carries? or any yards?  Creative score keeping? I've never seen that before.

Fumble recovery for a TD.  Remember Sherman in 2007?
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Rushing yards for Givens?   18 carries / 122 yds
Rushing yards for Ward?     14 carries / 112 yds
Passing yards for Brekke?   119 yds
Will Tamsett get a carry?    0 carries / 3 rec 24 yds 2 TD
Who will be second QB to enter game (after Brekke)? Matt Behrendt
Total # of passes?  16

Bonus Question:

Amount of rain in St. Louis on Friday?  2.41 inches

This is late in coming Bobo but nice jobs on these picks. You were almost exact on Ward and you got  correct- not far off on others.
I'm anxious to see the game this weekend. I am hoping to see more than four receivers catching passes. I am also curious if this will a game where Givens will show us the things we've heard about him doing in practice.

Considering I was the only one to respond to the questions, I reckon I made the best predictions!!  ;D

I hope some of the walking wounded have had time to heal their nagging injuries. I'd like to see the offense as a whole have less turnovers and be more consistant. But, what I'd really like to see is that defense dominate again!!

Good memory, that was a great play by Sherman.

It may be the FIB in me, but I simply have a hard time believing UWW is so deep at RB that losing J Williams isn't a bad thing.  I'm guessing there is more to the story than his physical abilities.  An All-State running back from Illinois' largest high school class isn't a 6th stringer even on a DIII championship team.

If that's where our coaching staff had him, who are we to doubt their judgement? There must've been a good reason for it.

However, I think the real reason he left is that, on the UWW roster, there is room for only 1 Josh Williams!! And the other one was there first.   ;)

Speaking of Josh Williams (the LB), he played at the same high school as last year's All-American LB Greg Arnold. Can you imagine that high school team, with both Williams and Arnold on the defensive side of the ball?! No wonder they won state.

Also, Williams was a year older than Arnold in high school (Williams was a senior while Arnold was just a junior). That's weird considering Arnold already graduated last year from college, while Williams is still playing for UWW.

Very sorry to hear Josh Williams (RB) is gone......he would have been a good one......opens up a spot next year for another FIB stud hopefully....

I'm surprised he's gone as well.  It was clear he wasn't going to have a Coppage like immediate impact, but I have to imagine he would have contributed at some point this year.  Some players are too impatient to wait their turn, however I'm sure his brothers success at Elmhurst and playing with family had a lot to do with his move.

The reality is that UWW is fortunate enough to have excellent athletes come to campus.   Beyond Desmond Ward who transfered a year ago, we have Ryan Givens who transfered from Illinois State, we have 4 other freshmen on the roster who stayed at UWW after summer camp.   Having attended the scrimmage against Rockford college, I (non-coach) would have ranked the backs in this order, Givens, Ward, Holder, Ratliffe and then Josh Williams.   Then imagine being Josh Williams, who was used to having the carries, he probably made a decision he believed was in his best interest.

I wish him well against everyone but the WIAC.

I was sorry to hear he left as well.  I mostly feel like it's a missed opportunity for Josh.  I always feel like staying with a commitment and fighting through adversity is so good for a young man's character development.  Deciding to transfer after the first year is one thing.  Leaving a couple days after training camp breaks is something else altogether.  I'm not judging him or his decision, just generally speaking, that's how I feel.  I wish him well and hope things work out for him at Elmhurst.

As far as UW-W is concerned, I believe they will be just fine.   I have a feeling none of us quite understand how good these running backs are.  My sense is they are really good.  Hopefully, we get a glimpse the next couple of weeks.

Sounds like you're talking about one of my all-time favorites - A. Anderson!!  The definition of team-player should include a picture of him. UWW wouldn't be in the position it is today without his sacrifice and committment to his teammates. Sure, he has the rings today, but one day, he will (should) be recognized officially for the effort into making this team great, IMO!!
