Good timing WarhawDad...I just sent you a PM.

Pat Coleman

voice, no worries -- you definitely had useful information for me and answered my questions. Also, thanks to everyone for their hospitality on Saturday. I mentioned on Facebook, where a couple of you are on my friends list, that it was nice to be shown such hospitality compared to some other places I've been.

Certainly not the higher-scoring game most of us in the parking expected. Or maybe it was just me.

No problem...let us know when you're coming back. We'll have some food ready for you next time  :D

Well, if not, a quality only-East-of-the-St.-Croix brew is always welcome, too. :)

If you're like me and appreciate history, and where we came from and how everything started. Then hopefully you'll enjoy this story I did about Milwaukee and Superior...back when they were a part of WIAC football

Alright...lets keep the good times rolling:

Awesome article 02!  That is good stuff.  I remember some long trips to Superior.  It's not real close to Whitewater, either!  I just mapquested it and it said 6 hours and 4 minutes, but no way those trips were that "short"!  As you say, the road system must be far different.

The Hawks also flew there a couple of times.  One year, the plane was flying through a severe storm on the way home and the pilot (or co-pilot) came and told Perk "We are in trouble.  We need to try to land or turn around."  Perk just said, "Get this plane on the ground".  He said it was one of his scariest moments, especially knowing all those kids were on the plane.  It was a small plane and chartered flight.  They landed, stayed in a hotel, and flew the rest of the way in the morning.  That was one trip I was glad I missed!

It was nice to meet you Saturday, Pat.  Until i listened to the podcast, I didn't realize you were "The Streak-Breaker".  Thanks a lot! ;)

Pat Coleman

I can't say I knew for sure either -- I mean, I was at the others, but I wasn't the only person covering those games because they were in the national semifinals and Stagg Bowl.

Glad u liked it. I bet Perk has a ton of great stories. I had the honor of sitting next to him during a QB Club meeting a couple of years ago. I'm so glad I got to meet him.

Keep up the good work yourself.

02-Nice article.  I enjoyed reading it.   I do know why Arnold is there...but I'll hold off a bit posting to see if others have an answer.  And its kind of sad to see the UWS football field in weeds.  My older brother used to broadcast the football games on the campus radio station.  He would travel the state from  the north which a bunch of guys in a beat up car.  And this was BEFORE HWY 53 was four lanes. They did all the away games.  UW Superior is an important part of Wisconsin...for historical, cultural and educational reasons.  And today the school has many proud athletes who support each other in competition.  You can see that when they compete on the track!  Nice read, thank you.
