By the way, I think us fans severely under-performed last Saturday. Remember the day the fans would chant Defense at critical defensive moments?  It was way too quiet. I vow to step up my cheering for the Hawks to improve the performance of the 12th man.
We need to stop expecting I do believe.

I stepped up my game Saturday and even clapped for 5 yard runs.  The last couple of years 7 yard gains by the Warhawks were met by near silence at the Perk.  There's NO reason it shouldn't be louder on key defensive moments.

Maybe if the guy who takes the PA mic from Irv during timeouts would show a little more energy it would help.  ::)

You guys are joking, right?  Many WIAC teams play to a crowd a fraction of what UWW gets, and a whole lots quieter and they still win.  I can say that because I think UWEC and UWW have the best crowds.  Not to mention that teams do win on the road with very few fans. That being said, perhaps your fans really need to get a new perspective.  While winning is certainly wonderful (I would love to see UWEC put together one solid year) the games are meant to be enjoyable - win or lose.  But I find it sad if the fans were quiet just because UWW <gasp> lost.  Most teams do that - some more than others.  But crowd noise - that's what makes the game fun!!  Perhaps going to watch sure blowouts game after game has dulled the fans and they have forgot about the excitement of going to watch a close game where the outcome is in question.
But seriously folks, did UWW really play that badly that you are worrying about crowd noise?  I just figured it was a blip on the radar.  Now you've got me wondering.

Oh wait.  I get it.  You're just trying to get me to change my pickem on the UWW/UWSP game so you can get farther ahead! 8-)

Please don't get me started.  Other than 413 and myself, very few people in our entire section stood on critical 3rd downs and on key plays.   Talk about spoiled fans!   I don't think many of them realized how fragile athletic success can be.   Sometimes it takes that 12th person to make something happen.  Hopefully this will motivate more than just you Emma.   Unfortunately, I think we are going to see a drop in numbers.   I really hope I am wrong.

UWEC still has strong crowd numbers and while decent, they have not been a stellar team.  Yes, you may see a small drop but I doubt if it will be that significant.  It is possible that UWW fans have not been doing a whole lot because when you win by 30 points and haven't lost a game in years, it may feel a little like poor sportsmanship.  And you may gain fans (like me) who would be more inclined to go in person to an expected close game than an expected blowout which I would probably watch on line.  UWP vs UWEC, for example.  I expect it to be a close game and an exciting one.  Just saying....to each his own.  Now I would love it if UWEC did pull off a huge win, but the excitement leading to an expected blowout just isn't the same, if you follow that logic which I admit sounds twisted.
And can anyone tell me the secret to editing a post?  I'm getting tired of deleting a post and then re-doing it whenever I want to change something.  What am I missing??

Bleed was joking about the guy that takes the mic- that guy is all energy.
As for the crowd, it was a very subdued crowd throughout the game- well before the outcome was known. It's not the reason UWW lost, it's just that the crowd does have the opportunity to add energy. As a fan I'd prefer to be part of a loud and supportive crowd- which I'm sure the players would appreciate as well.

I don't think we are "worrying" about crowd noise as much as we are agreeing with you. It helps make the game fun!  It's great to see all those people in the stands and that adds to the atmosphere.  But the crowd noise could be much greater given the numbers.  I think you actually nailed it on the head when you said the sentence in bold. I honestly don't think the majority of the crowd felt like the game WAS in doubt until Buffalo State got to the 10 yard line.  However, I did notice that many more students stayed past half time than usually do.  That gives me hope that maybe they will appreciate competitive football and show up in numbers and get loud Saturday. I hope so!

I see.  So I can delete my posts, then re-do them with the changes I wanted to make, which is the same result as modifying but only more work for me.  What about this don't I understand?
But I accept your rules. :) So how do I earn my big boy pants and make my life easier?  So far I haven't ticked anybody off and I got 5 karmas.   ;D

It's a certain number of posts you have to make. Honestly, I don't even remember the number, but it's not a ton more. It's like 30 or 40.

Speaking of crowd size....I'll be @Platteville tonight for the UWEC matchup.   I don't anticipate a huge turn out for a Thursday night game.  Even playing cross town , or cross river, rival Dubuque, they didn't have a huge turnout.  The stadium looks cool....should be a fun night!  And couch is right the BMB ( Blugold Marching Band) is amazing!!!  If you've never heard them, be sure to head to Carson Park some day.  More then 300 members!  The sound is BIG, the drum line tight.  These musicians are serious!
