In many of the playoff games I've been to I actually like to stand by the UWW band.  Once that group gets going they are a lot of fun.  I take a beating from friends because I happen to enjoy doing the Warhawk Strut.

I've always found the crowd closer to the sidelines to be a bit more engaged than up in the stands.

Although I wish we didn't have to "manufacture" crowd involvement, I do think there are some simple things that the program can do to help.  Use the video screen for things like D-Fense and U dub-Dub.  Perhaps find students that will carry the U W W placards and hold them up at certain times.  The band can "play some funky music (are the next words "white boy" or "right boy" or neither?)."

[ Hard to find an open spot sometimes when it is crowded, however, and we lollygag at the tailgate.     ;)

Yes, hearing the National Anthem is like the bartender saying "last call!"  ;)  413, I'm pretty sure we missed the kick-off when I tailgated with your group up here.

+k for using the term "lollygag."  8-)

After you've posted, when you go back to read it, there are three options in your post =
Quote
Modify
or
Remove
Modify will let you edit your post...
I have quote and remove, but no modify.  Any ideas?

You don't get modify until you've made a few more posts. That's a privilege you have to hearn.
I see.  So I can delete my posts, then re-do them with the changes I wanted to make, which is the same result as modifying but only more work for me.  What about this don't I understand?
But I accept your rules. :) So how do I earn my big boy pants and make my life easier?  So far I haven't ticked anybody off and I got 5 karmas.   ;D
Hang in there, Couch.  I, for one, am impressed that you go through the long process of fixing your posts.  Many just leave the first draft.   ;)  BTW, just in case you are might be thinking of doing a bunch of nonsense postings or a thought stretched out over several posts, it's been tried before, and Pat doesn't appreciate it.    LOL  ;D

Hah -- that is true. :)

It's nice to see UWL investing some money in their Athletics programs.  AD Josh Whitman has really had an impact since he arrived two years ago, with this project, new scoreboards for most teams, a brand new weight room and a partnership with the Loggers to improve and play at Copeland Park.  All bodes well for the future of Eagle athletics.

My buddy and I were in charge of music at the finish line of a charity bike ride. We played "Play that funky music" and near the end of the song a woman approached us, red in the face with anger, and said "I can't believe you'd play a song like that at a family event."

We had no clue what she meant until she revealed she thought the lyrics were "Play that f***ing music". We eventually had to pull the lyrics up on my phone to convince her she was mistaken.

UWP put a beat down on UWEC last night. Not sure if UWEC is just that bad or is UWP going to serious challenge UWW (and UWO) for the top spot in the WIAC this year.

If UWEC wins the WIAC, how good does that make the MIAC.

By destroying UWEC last night, does that make UWP that much better than both St. Johns and St. Thomas?   ;)

Trackfan

Unfortunately for 21 of the Pioneers' points, UWEC allowed UWP a very short field by committing errors on two kick returns (fumbles within the 15 one a turn over the other a 3 and out) and another "fumble" on a punt.  Although that "fumble" on the punt it's very questionable as it appeared the Blugold player may not have actually touched the ball.  But he was close enough for the refs to say he did....so it doesn't matter.
So 21 points were the result of special teams miscues.   Take those points off the board and it was a much closer game.
UWP runs  a solid short passing game, with one or two large wide outs blocking on bubble screens. As for the stadium...it is very nice, as most of you know.  Great contingent of students but still quiet.  They used the big board to solicit cheering but didn't engage the crowd.  Of course with such a big advantage in the score, well that could've been the reason for the disengagement of the fans.  Always fun to watch college football on a beautiful clear night at a fun stadium.  Go Blugolds ...and still cheering For the "Normalites".

I watched bits and pieces of the game. Every time I switched back over to the game, Platteville seemed to be moving the ball at will. I never did see any of the special team miscues, but I guess that would account for the high score.

I was at the game and don't think the short field would have mattered.  EC fumbled the opening kick off but then drove 45 yards and punted.  UWP answered with an 86 yard TD drive.  They also had TD drives of 65, 97, and 80 yards.  Absolute worst case you could take away 14 point from special teams miscues, but that punt returner should not have even tried to field that punt.  It was bouncing for abt 15 yards and there were at least 3 UWP players within 5 yards of him and no teammates with in 15 yards, they deserved that turnover.  EC just didn't have the secondary personnel to compete with the UWP WRs.

What they both said.  Why EC put a rookie freshman return man in and then kept him in after the first miscue is beyond me.    That said, I feel sorry for the player for being put in that position as returning the ball is a tough job particularly for a player who has not been on the field and used to college speed before.  But being 14 points down right away has got to be a downer for the players.  But UWP played a great passing game.  If that is their backup qb..yikes.  And the receivers were tall.  I think UWP is going to be a handful for every team they play if they stay healthy this year.

I think it's fair to say that the doubt (I admit to having some) is removed as to whether UWP is a legit contender. UWEC is no pushover but has proven to be physical and mental mistake prone.
I caught some of the game and the UWP passing game carved up the secondary. Very impressive.
