[ Hard to find an open spot sometimes when it is crowded, however, and we lollygag at the tailgate.     ;)

Yes, hearing the National Anthem is like the bartender saying "last call!"  ;)  413, I'm pretty sure we missed the kick-off when I tailgated with your group up here.

+k for using the term "lollygag."  8-)
NO WAY!  Not me, anyway.  My kid was playing then.  ;)  Since graduation, I tend to lollygag much more these days.  BTW, had to google lollygag to verify how to spell it!   ;D

What do you say Hawk fans - isn't it somewhat refreshing to be in this position?  To me tomorrow is a lot like the opening of the 2007 season- and I like it.

I prefer to win every game. I guess it's refreshing for the WIAC (and maybe DIII), but not me.  :-[

I'm, REALLY interested to see how we come out tomorrow. If we're flat and bad again, then there's no way we're beating Platt and Osh this year.

Liepold announced on the Wisconsin State Journal website that Huber underwent season ending ankle surgery.

Oh boy......
Not knowing much about UWW players, what does this mean to the team?  I assume he was injured during the last game.  Was that a factor in the loss?   I was expecting some chatter on this to answer my questions but I guess I will have to ask.

Losing #1 Receiver hurts real bad. Look how useless the Badgers passing game is without Abredaris.

They were saying the Hawks ha a lot of tall, young receivers. But, they need to grow up first. Time is now I guess fellas...

It is certainly an interesting position to be in.   Instead of being totally pumped about a game tomorrow, I am slightly apprehensive, concerned and am developing a little of the 02 worrying.  On the other hand, I am excited because in my heart I believe the talent is there and that maybe this was a wake-up call.  We will see tomorrow.  Hopefully the weather will clear.

It certainly takes away a major option, but with the right play calling, since UWW has so many weapons, it could cause some really good things to happen, like developing a much more multifaceted passing game.  We have 4 big, strong, good hands tight ends.  We have the meanest, toughest and great hands fullback....and we have some tall, fast young widereceivers.   Maybe we will spread the ball around more.  That would certainly help the running game as well.

Refreshing isn't the word I would choose.  The streak never got old for me.  But I will say it's been a long week and I can't wait until tomorrow!

Yeah I think I was guilty last year too of not being a streak guy.
In refreshing I mean there is a newness now to walking into the Perk. There is a heightened sense of anticipation and uncertainty to the outcome that hasn't existed in a while.  Let's face it, there is some doubt about players and play calling that we haven't had in some time. All of these long suppressed emotions have been released and I know feel ...(deep breath)...refreshed.
The streak was an uneccesary and unproductive burden. Championships are the only streak I care about.
One more point, winning streaks may say as much about the competition as it does the winning team.

An offensive explosion by the Hawks would do the trick.

But then that might lead to the start of one of those unnecessary, unproductive, and burdensome winning streaks!  ;)

You'll have to take my opinion with a grain of salt.  No, I don't think Huber's loss was a factor in the loss- or maybe I should say it certainly shouldn't have been.  He is super talented for sure.  But a team like UWW shouldn't be reliant upon one receiver to make or break the passing game.

You are relentless  ;D
If UWW bounces back tomorrow and for the remainder of what I hope is a 15 game season, I believe a fair question to ask is "Would it have happened without the early stuggles"?
