Oline was outstanding today. Ward had tons of room to run, and Brekke was given time to throw. Offense in general was much better, but there's still room for improvement. Too many receivers where over shot for my liking  ;).

I feel better heading into the Platteville game next week.

Thanks to footballfan413 and warhawkdad for the hospitality!

It was great to meet you 02.  And I now can attest that 413's Bloodies are the real deal- fantastic.

Comments on the game:
We saw offensive improvement- this is a more optimistic week.  Execution improved a lot and I think there was a different feel to the play calling.  As for player utilization in the passing game (a personal concern)- I am happy they engaged Kumerow but surprised by the lack of use of the tight ends.  We did have four wide outs catch passes but still lacking in spreading the ball with efficiency.  Three receptions was the most by any player.

As 02 alluded to, there is a lot of room to get better as the offense left a lot of points on the field in the passing game.  Thankfully the defense has given the offense time to improve.

I agree completely, although they did make better use of the fullback.  We have 4 good tight-ends with size and speed.  The fact that they had improvement week to week gives me hope that they will continue to work to spread the ball around.     It was also really nice to see Aaron Samplawski used in both the passing and return game.  Hopefully we will see the wide recievers, tight ends and backs utilized in Platteville.  Speaking of which, who is going?  What time are you planning to get there?   Upper lot?

I doubt if this thought has entered any of your minds here, but if UWW does stumble either against Plattville, Oshkosh or even a lesser team, they probably won't make the post season with 2 losses, and no Auto berth. I bet everyone on the team is aware though.

I had some idle time on my hands tonight so I decided to do some comparison of who the Pioneers have played so far this year against UWW using the NCAA statistics.   While Platteville currently has the #3 Passing and #3 Scoring offense, they have achieved that against the following:

Buena Vista;  #230 in Total Defense, #231 in Passing Efficiency Defense, and #236 in Scoring Defense
Dubuque;       #204 in Total Defense, #226 in Passing Efficiency Defense, and #226 in Scoring Defense
Wisc, E.C.;      #206 in Total Defense,  #223 in Passing Efficiency Defense, and #198 in Scoring Defense

UWW;             #13 in Total Defense,  #12 in Passing Efficiency Defense, and #7 in Scoring Defense

As far as offense Buena Vista is ranked 230 in Total Offense and they scored 13 pts against UWP, Dubuque is rated 28 in Total Offense and scored 35 points and Eau Claire is ranked 104 in Total Offense and scored 19 points.

This just confirms what we all know, it will be the UWP offense against the UWW defense.  From a game planning standpoint, UWW has to "Pound the Rock".  Eau Claire ranked 98th in rushing ran for 178 yards on 36 carries against UWP.   UWW currently ranks 37 in rushing.   So WarhawkDad says a ball control take time off the clock offense pounding the rock, mixed with a sound passing attack can keep UWP off the field.    Against UWSP, UWW had a tremendous 36 minute to 23 minute time of possession advantage.

Lastly UWW has to protect the ball and continue to get takeaways.   A surprising statistic is that Platteville currently leads the WIAC in turnover margin, not so much from the number of takeaways, but they have only lost one fumble.

Really looking forward to this game!

One thing to remember is that for each of those teams have played one-third of their games against Platteville, so those numbers are going to be bad just because of that. But BVU, for sure, is pretty far down the pecking order.

Man, not a Green Bay fan, but holy cow did the Packers get jobbed in that game!

2 blown calls on the final drive. Terrible PI call on the sideline. That was just excellent coverage. No clue what he saw to make him throw the flag.

And then the sequence of events in the endzone on the last play. Offensive PI by Tate, Jennings clearly catches the ball first. One official calls touchback, another touchdown. How does the ref call touchdown when he is literally looking down from 5 feet away at the GB DB cradling the ball to his chest with two arms. Sure Tate has a hand/arm on the ball. But Jennings clearly had the ball first and better possession later. Crazy!

If you're GB, you should be pissed. I mean pissed. And you should look each other in the eyes and say only losers dwell on something like this. Let's learn from it, get motivated by it and move on. The longer you complain, and they've got TONS to complain about, the more you keep yourself from moving forward and getting back on track. My 2¢

Is "better possession" in the rule book?  I see two players with hands on the ball.  Tate clearly had better possession later as his arm between the ball and Jenning's chest enabled him to win the wrestle match for the ball.

I don't know what else Tate would have to do for simultaneous possession.

No!! Jennings clearly had possession!! Tate only had one arm on the ball while it was pinned to Jennings chest!! HORRIBLE CALL!!!!

wrdad

"It is not a simultaneous catch if a player gains control first and an opponent subsequently gains joint control." Which is what happened. Jennings had full control and Tate subsequently gained joint control after Jennings had full possession!!

I hate Green Bay as much as the next guy, but wrdad is right on this one. Should have been INT Jennings, end of game, Packers win.

Then again, the Packers offense didn't do the team any favors. Only one TD, and Rodgers was sacked eight times in the first half.

Possession of the ball should have been irrelevant.  Tate clearly shoves Shields and should have been flagged for pass interference.  These clowns who are officiating are simply put a bad joke.  The overwhelming majority of them are not competent to officiate at this level.  Goddell has got to get an agreement worked out with the regular officials to get them back on the field or the NFL is going to suffer.
