I had some idle time on my hands tonight so I decided to do some comparison of who the Pioneers have played so far this year against UWW using the NCAA statistics.   While Platteville currently has the #3 Passing and #3 Scoring offense, they have achieved that against the following:

Buena Vista;  #230 in Total Defense, #231 in Passing Efficiency Defense, and #236 in Scoring Defense
Dubuque;       #204 in Total Defense, #226 in Passing Efficiency Defense, and #226 in Scoring Defense
Wisc, E.C.;      #206 in Total Defense,  #223 in Passing Efficiency Defense, and #198 in Scoring Defense

UWW;             #13 in Total Defense,  #12 in Passing Efficiency Defense, and #7 in Scoring Defense

As far as offense Buena Vista is ranked 230 in Total Offense and they scored 13 pts against UWP, Dubuque is rated 28 in Total Offense and scored 35 points and Eau Claire is ranked 104 in Total Offense and scored 19 points.

This just confirms what we all know, it will be the UWP offense against the UWW defense.  From a game planning standpoint, UWW has to "Pound the Rock".  Eau Claire ranked 98th in rushing ran for 178 yards on 36 carries against UWP.   UWW currently ranks 37 in rushing.   So WarhawkDad says a ball control take time off the clock offense pounding the rock, mixed with a sound passing attack can keep UWP off the field.    Against UWSP, UWW had a tremendous 36 minute to 23 minute time of possession advantage.

Lastly UWW has to protect the ball and continue to get takeaways.   A surprising statistic is that Platteville currently leads the WIAC in turnover margin, not so much from the number of takeaways, but they have only lost one fumble.

Really looking forward to this game!

WarhawkDad

One thing to remember is that for each of those teams have played one-third of their games against Platteville, so those numbers are going to be bad just because of that. But BVU, for sure, is pretty far down the pecking order.

Pat

You are absolutely correct and I knew that while putting it together, but still thought it interesting.

WHD

This was interesting WD. You can look at stats from last year as well and see similarities. Historically UWW's defense has prevented the opposing offense from "looking normal" and their pound the rock offense plays a manor role in it (along w Coach LL's preference for playing field position football).

Should be a Jim Dandy.

I'm pretty certain our defense can slow them down. But I'm concerned that it won't be enough if our offense is lagging.

Perfect example: Buffalo State game.

In years past, if our defense gives up a few TDs in a game, we all felt confident that our offense could over come that. This year, however, there's a little uneasiness in the air.

As long as Il Gator chimed in with a political jab - and from his handle - he's from Illinois(?). If you can't see that there is a big difference in Private and Public Sector unions, then I fear for your sanity. As a former Federal Employee who was forbidden by law from joining a union, I knew going in what my status was. I never felt "enslaved."

There is much to much involved to get into it in depth, so, just realize that even if it was meant in jest, now may not be the ideal time to throw it out there. Everything is riding a thin line.

More sage-like thoughts from Ret.  The last thing we need is for this board to "degenerate" from a D-III football discussion all the way down the totem poll to a political debate. Getting away from all that is one of the priceless treasures of this board.

Speaking of debate, good to see the Bears fans among us share  thoughtful responses to what happened last night, rather than taking the opportunity to kick the Packers' fans when we are down.

I think all fans realize that it could be their teams turn next week.  Maybe not in such a dramatic fashion, but a few bad calls can change the course of the game. I think many fans around the league feel that games are being compromised by the replacement refs.  No one wants that.  The NFL is at the top of the food chain and we expect them to be the best they can be.  The real refs do make questionable calls, but not to this degree and not this many.  We want the NFL to make sure that the teams going into the playoffs  have legitimately won the right to be there as best as they can.  This just leaves a bad taste in everyones mouth.  Are we watching the NFL or a Buffalo Wild Wings commercial?

Moving away from the horrible officiating:

Who's going to be in Platteville on Saturday? At least for now my dad and I are planning on making the trek accross the state.

Yeah, just imagine Bobo if the tables were turned and it was the Bears getting beat- Hey hold on, where the heck is Bobo?

I'll pile on the Packers in this sense:
#1- Get your act together on the offensive line- who do you think you are, the _ _ _ rs?
#2- KNOCK THE BALL DOWN in a Hail Mary situation.

In their defense:
#1- The pass interference call on the sideline route was ridiculous.
#2- The roughing the passer call that negated the interception was ridiculous.

Contemplating it.  The game is like a giant tractor beam, pulling me closer and closer...  is there any Musky fishing around Platteville?  I was supposed to go up nort.

I am going.  Not sure if family is attending with.  I believe #53 parents are going as well.

Bleed, you do not know how tempting it was to "kick-em" when they were down.  But, I think spending Saturdays the last 4 years at the Perk has tempered my tolerance for those following the Pack.

I just got done reading a new release on www.warhawkfootball.com posted by the website host, editor and author.  We all know him as "voice".   I did not ask his permission to repost it here and if it is a problem, please feel free to delete it.  But I wanted to say unequivocably to Voice that he has the support of the entire Warhawk nation, the WIAC posters and fans, and I am sure most of D3 football.    Voice, you can win this fight.  Keep your spirits up and know that we are with you 100%.   Here is the post:

It has been a nervous past 10 days in my current battle with cancer. My follow-up C-Scan was performed last week following my initial radiation and chemo-therapy treatments.

My oncologist, Dr. Amit Sanyal, indicated to me last Wednesday that the "numbers" look good and we're going in the right direction. With that said he had me start my second series of chemo treatments. These will be much stronger than the original treatment.

My original treatment was all done via CADD computer on a continuous seven day a week basis.

The new chemo is much stronger as it will attack any cancer cells that may have made it into my lymph nodes.

I was lucky and didn't have serious side effects from my initial chemo with the exception of getting fatigued. I don't think I'm going to be as lucky this time around. I suffered severe dehydration for the first 48 hours of the new treatment that required five hours of fluids being injected into my body.

While I maintain that "day at a time" attitude in fighting this terrible disease, the emotional and physical "ups and downs" can be extremely taxing.

A photo of me along with Arnie Peck (center) and Gary Douglas (right) was taken at Saturday night's Back to the 60's – Bob Berezowitz Day reception at Randy's Restaurant.

I look at the photo and worry that maybe I'm not strong enough to win this battle.

When I read this article, it certainly put amazing perspective on issues as ultimately trivial as the officiating in last night's football game or the games this coming Saturday.   From time to time, it is, in my opinion appropriate for all us to be reminded of what truly is important.

"I look at the photo and worry that maybe I'm not strong enough to win this battle."      Voice

This is unacceptable,  Voice!!  DO NOT let any doubt enter your mind!!!  Numbers look good and you are going in the right direction!!  That is all that matters!!!  It is the treatment that is making you feel like crap!  Not the cancer!!!  As I told my son the first day of chemo,  "That is our new best friend and your best weapon!  It is how you are going to kick cancer's butt!"  You WILL win this battle but you have to fight and you have to believe!!! Let the support lift you up!!!   :-* :-*
