Jennings clearly has possession first. Two hands on the ball and it's pinned to his chest. Tate has one hand and is behind and to the side of Jennings. In effect, Jennings shoulder and back are between Tate and the ball.

Now, does Tate come up with the ball in the end. Sure. After a scrum and what looks like 6 seahawks clawing away. Bottom line, this simply wasn't an instance of simultaneous possession.

And Tate hammered Shields with offensive PI. And the terrible call on the sideline that called PI when the DB had perfect position on Sidney Rice, a spot foul.

Bad all around.
The only time Jennings shoulder and back are between Tate and the ball is after the catch while they're rolling on the ground.  That wouldn't matter anyway.  There's no rule that says if one guy has the ball against his chest while the other guy just has control by way of his one arm that the guy with the ball closest to his chest gets sole credit for possession, it just isn't in the rules.   Tate's control is constant throughout the catch.

No he doesn't

And I love that the image you're using as evidence includes text that argues the exact opposite of your position  ;D

On my quest to visit each WIAC football stadium, I took sometime to take in the sites and sounds of Perkins Stadium in Whitewater.

WIAC Stadiums (2 of 8): Whitewater

Disclaimer: This is my first experience with video editing, so bare with me. Also, it was windy out that day, so excuse the sound (or lack there of)

Also, just past that post is John and Randy's WIAC Wrap: Week 4

I can remember when the stadium was first built and the pines trees on the east side were very short.  We used to sit up on that hill.  The coolest thing though was whenever the WARHAWKS scored the mascot, a WARHAWK mounted on a white horse, would gallop full speed across the top of the bowl with a lance and then stick it in the ground.  It was similar to Florida State's mascot.  Of course that tradition changed when the transition was made to the bird mascot.

I just got done reading a new release on www.warhawkfootball.com posted by the website host, editor and author.  We all know him as "voice".   I did not ask his permission to repost it here and if it is a problem, please feel free to delete it.  But I wanted to say unequivocably to Voice that he has the support of the entire Warhawk nation, the WIAC posters and fans, and I am sure most of D3 football.    Voice, you can win this fight.  Keep your spirits up and know that we are with you 100%.   Here is the post:

It has been a nervous past 10 days in my current battle with cancer. My follow-up C-Scan was performed last week following my initial radiation and chemo-therapy treatments.

My oncologist, Dr. Amit Sanyal, indicated to me last Wednesday that the "numbers" look good and we're going in the right direction. With that said he had me start my second series of chemo treatments. These will be much stronger than the original treatment.

My original treatment was all done via CADD computer on a continuous seven day a week basis.

The new chemo is much stronger as it will attack any cancer cells that may have made it into my lymph nodes.

I was lucky and didn't have serious side effects from my initial chemo with the exception of getting fatigued. I don't think I'm going to be as lucky this time around. I suffered severe dehydration for the first 48 hours of the new treatment that required five hours of fluids being injected into my body.

While I maintain that "day at a time" attitude in fighting this terrible disease, the emotional and physical "ups and downs" can be extremely taxing.

A photo of me along with Arnie Peck (center) and Gary Douglas (right) was taken at Saturday night's Back to the 60's – Bob Berezowitz Day reception at Randy's Restaurant.

I look at the photo and worry that maybe I'm not strong enough to win this battle.

When I read this article, it certainly put amazing perspective on issues as ultimately trivial as the officiating in last night's football game or the games this coming Saturday.   From time to time, it is, in my opinion appropriate for all us to be reminded of what truly is important.

To WarhawkDad, to those with follow-up posts on the subject, and to those that have personally emailed and called me in the past 24 hours - your words are inspiring to me as I battle this horrible disease.  I am attempting to battle cancer "one day at a time" but I guess some days are better than others.  Your thoughts are incredibly up-lifting. Thank you!!!

Article from the La Crosse Tribune:

Interesting to note the story at the end of the article.  Referee Ken Roan, who worked the 49er/Vikings game Sunday where Jim Harbaugh got to challenge plays without any timeouts, also worked the UWL/Mary Hardin Baylor game last year and was involved in a game changing questionable call there as well.  It's amazing that these guys are now working NFL games, not because they are bad people but because they clearly aren't ready for the speed or rules of the NFL game.  It's going to be tough to watch until the real refs get back.

Was the mascot a student? Or some local professional horse rider?

Apparently since interceptions are now counted as touchdowns Bret Favre has announced he is coming back again.
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

I don't know but I suspect it was some local person who owned a horse.

Yes, the Favre joke is funny even to this die hard.

For what it's worth:  Falcon coach Matt Walker, in his latest interview, called Oshkosh one of the best, if not THE best team in D3 football.

They are capable of beating Whitewater this year. That's for sure.

I intend to come to the Perk on Oct. 20th to see if Oshkosh can make that happen, and I'm coming with my buddy who's kid is on the Osh team. Should be an interesting game.

I intend to retain my bragging rights.
