Hey Houdini, are you a Pville fan?  If so it's good to have you.  Do you know if there is a projection for Anderson to return this season?
Is Vlasak ok?  Is Bailey ok?
Only when they play Whitewater ;)  I went to Stout, but am a D3 fan in general following the WIAC and to some extent the CCIW, MWC and even some teams in the NAC.  I just think sometimes this board needs an opposing view.  I did hear on the Platteville broadcast that Anderson was seeking out a second opinion as in someone who will tell him he is not done for the season.

I think most of us regular posters agree- we'd like more viewpoints.

bleedpurple: Thanks for the info on P-ville. As to La Crosse, I feel that the O-line has been a bit disappointing this season. I thought they would be a real team strength, but have been disappointed at both the run and pass blocking. In fairness, they have faced tough defenses in most of their games. It sounds as if they ran into a beast or two in the D-lines they have played. Also, two OL starters missed the game at Point but will be ready Saturday. The QB's are adequate and Jared Stan and co. will have to step up their game going forward. The FG unit needs work as well, as I wouldn't have been comfortable relying on them to win the game last weekend. I have faith in the coaching staff and expect we'll see steady improvement if the injuries don't wear us down.

The most surprising thing about the OL is the run blocking. Pass blocking last year was horrible with many sacks given up, but the running game was pretty strong.  Hertrampf was first team all conference and put up almost 1000 yards while really only playing in six or so games.  The running game has been very weak this year, and with all five starters back I'm at a loss as to why.  Against SP they were down a few regulars, but were at full strength for the other games and the results weren't much different.  Now Hertrampf is hurt and out for a while so it only gets tougher going into the heart of the conference schedule.

Bleed you are a champion.  I think things will continue to improve as well, but I think success this year will look much different than in previous years.

I am very interested to watch the development of Brekke.  Just looking at his starts in 2010 playoffs and this year, he's thrown 15 td's to 11 interceptions.  Granted some of those interceptions were against UMU and a Hail Mary v BSC, but those are numbers that I'm sure we didn't expect after we saw first game in 2010 vs. Franklin- 4 td's and no picks.  I imagine any improvement in these numbers is going to require equal improvement from the receiving corp as well as Brekke.  Of course a running game with more big play potential will also help.

I think I said this before the season started, this will be the greatest coaching job of the LL era if this team ends up going far.
Emma

Very interesting.  I do not know if it is "great minds thinking alike" or just coincidence, but last night I watched a dvd of the Trine playoff game from 2010.  The most telling difference was the route running of the receivers.  Brekke could count of Brandies, Rusch, Ford and others to run precise routes and be in position to make the catch.   The other frankly was the ability of Coppage.  I expect improvement in that over the next couple of weeks.   If I can see it, I know our coaching staff can see it.

Well, Saturday should be a good day for the Warhawks to get back in sync on offense. River Falls gives up a ton of yards, and points.

But we'll see.

Since it involves my befuddled mind- it's just coincidence.
Interesting point on the routes and receiver capabilities in the Franklin game.  Let's face it though, Rusch and Brandes were as reliable as it gets. Brekke will need to make it work with a less talented group. He is team captain and needs to lead with his play.

Now that Paterson made a good impression I have much more confidence that the UWW run game will be more explosive. I know it was early in the season and all, but I just didn't feel Givens or Ward were showing much big play potential. In the interviews Coach LL gives he talks about the patience needed by a UWW tailback - with zone blocking and the deep hand-off you can understand why the RB needs to let the play develop a bit- and then have the lateral ability and burst to make a play. I didn't see that from the first two. I didn't see Paterson live but it sounds like he's getting the concept more naturally. His pop was a smart player too.

Is Zach Howard done for the season?

Very good article Bleed.  I enjoyed the description of the defensive blitzes and pressure being put on Kelly.   Hopefully the offense will get in forward and start accelerating in the first quarter this week!

I thought the same going into last week for UWO...yet after dropping 70pts on Alma they only put up 19 against a relatively weak UWRF's team.

Thanks, WHD.   It would be great to get the offense  moving sooner on Saturday.  I am confident that starting strong will be a point of emphasis this week after what happened Saturday.  Let's hope the execution is there!

So what to make of this?  UWO is not as good as everyone thought?  UWRF is improving, at least defensively?  I guess after UWO/UWEC square off that will give us a better indication.  And to see what kind of fight UWRF puts up against UWW.  I don't think anything's a given in this conference.
