There sure seems to be a lot of experts on this board that seemingly (in their mind) have a better grasp on UWW's offensive Inconsistencies than the coaching staff does  :-\

Well from what I've heard Brekke has been getting it at practice and told to step it up and play like a captain. Made it sound like something could change if he didn't, and that was before the Platteville game.

I don't think anyone believes they know more or won't support the coaches but when the little bit of positive QB we've seen all year was from the backup everyone has the right to speak out about that as long as no one is being disrespectful to the players or the coaches, and so far nobody has been.

Plus k Master, you said it perfectly.

I think you said it perfectly, too.  And I'm sure it will hold true even if Behrendt doesn't play a snap on Saturday!  ;D

Was the Fundraising Event for Tommy P. only for this past Saturday or is it possible for those of us who couldn't be there to still contribute?  I'm coming to the Homecoming game (actually from the 18th thru the 22) and I would really like to contribute to this very worthy cause.  Please somebody let me know.  Thanks!! I'm so looking forward to my first ever visit to Whitewater!

Donations in support of the Team Tom Cancer Fund can be made at the Commercial Bank in Whitewater, in person or by mail. Commercial Bank is located at 200 South Fremont Street in Whitewater, 53190. The bank phone number is 262-473-1111.

Your contribution will be greatly appreciated, Olinemom.  Anyone else who hasn't already contributed and would like to may do so by mailing a check to the bank and/or contacting them directly.  Thanks

Thanks so much.  I know I'm not the only one who wanted to know that information. Hope to see you at Homecoming!

Did anyone watch the Oshkosh/UWEC game on-line?  Did you have to pay to watch it?

I don't know what to say about UWEC.  Good Lord.  Every year same thing.  They start out with promise, then seem to go downhill as the season wears on.  Neu seems to hang on to the ball too long. Even when receivers are open down field, he seems reluctant to throw.  Not sure what's going on with that.  It seems he has good receivers.  Not sure some of the younger receivers are blocking as well.  But of course, without film to watch or instant replay, it is hard to really absorb what one sees so take my observations with a grain of salt.
But Oshkosh looks to be a good team.

No, I wasn't around all weekend to watch any games. However, I was in La Crosse, and I watched a couple of snaps from outside the stadium from my car. Very nice place to watch a game I must say.

And that's the extent of my WIAC football for the weekend.

That's awesome. You must have a really cool car!  ;D

Thoughts, prayers and condolences to the collective UWEC Blugold family, as we lost a student today in an off-campus house fire this morning...

Precise passing pushed Platteville's Pioneers past lethargic La Crosse on Saturday. Pioneer QB Bryce Corrigan completed 22 of 23 passes in the first half as the visitors took a 27-10 halftime lead. The Eagle defenders seemed to play off the receivers for far too long. At halftime, the La Crosse defense made adjustments, but too late to save the day. The La Crosse offense scored a TD on the first drive, only to revert to relative impotence on subsequent drives. Again, the O-line allowed too much pressure on QB Andy Sires with 5 resultant sacks. In all, a dreadful showing by La Crosse. While I have no knowledge of the Eagles' mindset, I would think that a loss at Eau Claire could demoralize the squad. A win is needed if we are to reach the break-even point this season, and I'm hoping we get it. Congrats to the Pioneers on a fine showing.

Terrible news from Eau Claire. My sympathy to all who have been hurt in this tragedy.

This was a very surprisig result to me as I thought the combination of the UWL defense and the new UWP QB would favor UWL.  Obviously UWP has a system that is working.  I heard something the other day regarding UWP that perhaps other posters already know.  Apparently a few years back UWP petioned the board of regents and was approved to provide discounted tuition to IL and IA students.  Thus IL students interested in coming to WI pay less to attend UWP than they do other WIAC schools- sound right?
UWP roster shows something around 54 IL players.  Granted, it makes sense geographically that there would be IL students, but over half the football roster is surprising to me.  For those that know IL football, if you take a look at the high schools that many of the UWP players came from, you know why this team is good.

It's called the Tri-State Initiative.

http://www.uwplatt.edu/admission/tristate/

Iowa and Illinois residents can get a lower tuition rate at UW-Platteville, similar to the Wisconsin-Minnesota reciprocity agreement. Not as low as in-state residents, but not as high as the out-of-state rate either. It was enacted because Platteville was struggling admissions-wise and wanted to have greater reach into those neighboring states.

This wasn't an athletics initiative. It was something the Board of Regents deemed necessary to help keep UW-Platteville strong and healthy. Every school has their own advantages and disadvantages.

Platteville also still carries some name-recognition in Illinois (at least with parents) from being the long time home of the Chicago Bears training camp.

Very interesting...I did not know that.

Years ago then Governor Doyle said Wisconsin needed more engineers to be help Wisconsin's businesses grow.  Platteville's Chancellor came up with the Tri-State plan to attrack more students to Platteville and help fill Wisconsin's need for engineers.  Out of state students pay roughly 120% of the cost to educate them in the UW System.  With the Tri-State initiative they still pay 100% of the cost.  The plan had to go through the Board of Regents and the legislature.  Other campuses had the ability to come up with similar plans I know one campus was looking at a legacy plan where if a parent was a grad the child could get a similar discount on out of state tuition.  Its worked well for Platteville with Illinois for a couple of reasons 1.  In state tuition in Illinois is expensive so paying out of state tuition at Platteville is now competitive and 2. The lack of state schools in north west Illinois makes going to Platteville a close to home option.
