Make that, "a legendary run"..................
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

Where did the phrase " a lesson in his own mind" originate?
WW definitely emphasized UMU's "to be the best, youse got to best the best."

What bothers me the most, is this place is going to turn into a ghost-town by the middle of November with Whitewater missing the postseason....

My guess is that with the playoffs underway then, WIAC D3 fans still will have a lot to say ... UWW or no UWW.
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Just returned from musky fishing (key term) w friends. Our success on the water unfortunately equaled the UWW game.

A couple answers to earlier posts:
W UWW out of playoffs, I still intend to stay active on the boards- afterall my second favorite team is still in.

02- this was not what I had in mind for refreshing. I don't mind a loss in regular season, but I feel bad for all involved as they feel worse than I do.

I'm not discouraged though as I see this as a great opportunity to ready the team for next year.

warhawk, first time i have looked at your inside the boxscores and blog site.  very well done.  good insight into the games.  will keep it in mind as the year winds down as more reading to do as the playoffs get started.

With 3rd loss of the season UWW drops out of the D3football Top 25.
The Hawks entered the Top 25 in week 3 of the 2004 season and have been ranked eacb week until this week.
Pretty nice run!!

Yes it has. Hopefully we'll bounce back next season.

I haven't had the emotional fortitude it took to post yet after Saturday's loss, probably still don't but don't want my late posting to send any message that I don't intend. So here goes.   First of all, thanks for all the," support," so to speak from many posters.  Retagent was very magnanimous and I am glad to see that wesleydad feels comfortable to post an here occasionally now.  Thanks to Pat for forging that de tante.  ;) I envisioned a collective fist pump all across the entire D-3 landscape after the game on Saturday.  Still could be an all purple Stagg Bowl but will not be an 8th rematch of UWW/UMU.  On a personal note, feeling really sorry for myself because there will be no more 2012 tailgates for us.  I will be traveling all next week starting on Sat. morning so will miss the last one at the Perk this season.  But, more importantly, I am sure that it pales in comparison to what the coaching staff, parents and players are feeling about the way this season has gone.  One of my favorite quotes comes to mind by Martin Luther King.

"The ultimate measure of a person is not where they stand in moments of comfort and convenience, but where they stand in times of challenge and controversy."

Despite the disappointment of seeing this incredible run end this season, it is so important to keep it all in perspective.  2012 should do nothing to detract from this amazing and unprecedented run for UW-W and the WARHAWK  nation.  Four in all, as well as back-to-back National and WIAC Conference Championships, numerous individual and team records have fallen, many All Americans, a few Gagliardi finalists and even one winner, and several players have had opportunities at professional football careers and we have one on the Bears practice squad this year.  It really has been an unbelievable run and one that will never be tarnished by its end this season.  A run that we, back in 2003 when my son decided to become a WARHAWK, could NEVER have envisioned for this program.  We were just a good WIAC team at the time but thanks to the vision, desire and hard work of a coaching staff lead by Coach Brez., much bigger things were in store for this program.  I am so grateful for our journey that started as a parent of a player and has continued on as one of the programs biggest fans, if I do say so myself.  ;)  But despite this hiccup, I am confident that the program will adjust and proceed, and we will be back to the top again very soon. Quite frankly, it went on much longer than I expected.  I thought we just had a very special team on the field in 05-07.  Turned out, we have a very special program and we still do!!!   8-)

As for the board becoming a ghost town, I'll do my part to hang around. I have too many friends on here to disappear and I am hoping we have another WIAC team to follow for awhile.   :D

Keep your heads held high, WARHAWKS, and let's start the new string of consecutive wins on Saturday!

well said 413, +1 to you.  much to be proud of as a parent and fan of uww football.  a sigh of relief from some, but i liked playing you guys, even though most games ended up ugly on the scoreboard.  still have the memory of my son catching the td in the playoffs at the perk in 06 i believe it was.  have met many of you at the stagg and enjoyed your company.  as a fan of d3 football i will be glad to see another team, maybe 2 this year at the stagg bowl.  but a part of me will miss seeing you guys as you are very friendly and brought some good food and conversation the day of the game.

Great post 413, I truly appreciate your perspective, your friendship, hospitality and bloody mary's!  Truthfully, I did not expect to be as personally impacted by a loss as I have been.  Maybe it is because I am a current parent and I have come to be friends with many of the players and their families and friends.   When you have experienced the wonderful "highs" that we have as parents and supporters, I guess when it stops the "lows" can be as equally profound.    I too plan to remain on the Board, probably not as frequently and will be supporting UWO all the way.   They have a special team this year.

Still a pretty strong potential for an "all purple" Stagg Bowl.....boy am I going to miss being in Salem, but not going to miss the drive  ;D   There is a chance that number 65 will still be affiliated with the team next year in a non-playing role, time will tell.  If so, we will still be coming up to most home games to tailgate, see friends, support the team and drink 413's bloody marys!

Still proud to be a........

I just wanted to let those of you who have been viewing Randy and my WIAC weekly wrap that we will not be doing them for the rest of the season.  Lest you think so the reason isn't because the WARHAWKS season has gone as it has but rather personal and business things are preventing me from having the time to put them together for the next couple of weeks.  On the personal side I will be leaving for a vacation next weekend (Aruba) and won't be returning until after the LaCrosse game.  Business wise I'm really busy this week getting things organized for the time I'll be gone and my staff person is leaving the day after I return so I'll be swamped then too.  I just don't have the time now and I won't once I get back.

I want to thank 02 for giving us a venue and all of you who have viewed them.  I know that they weren't very good but we had fun doing them and I hope that we've been able to give some of the athletes around the league recognition by mentioning them.   We do plan on picking them up again next year if 02 is agreeable.

Thanks again.

Amen and +k for a great post!  I have enjoyed reading the WIAC board and meeting UWW fans (especially footballfan413) since we met in Belton in the 7-6 UWW/UMHB contest and through my several trips to the Stagg Bowl as a spectator since then.  Best of luck to an outstanding program in the future!
