WIAC moving to DII...there's an idea.

If you read the whole post - I'm not advocating for that.  But it makes at least as much sense as a WIAC poster saying (basically) that the MWC, UMAC, and NATHC should have their own junior varsity 'playoffs'. Please consider that context.

I agree that neither idea makes much sense.

That'll be like the NCAA basketball tournament giving the top tier teams like Duke, NC, Ohio State, Florida, etc... their own tournament...while giving UMass, Illinois State, Creighton, George Mason, etc their own tournament. If I'm understanding that correctly.

High School is a little different becauase they recruit within their student body. College they recruit before they enroll. So it makes sense to break the high schools up based on school size, because the larger schools have a larger recruiting pool.

QuoteTake two from the strongest conferences...expand the playoffs.  Why?Because...the WIAC will continue to beat up on each other all season long. Fewer and fewer teams will opt in for a non-conference game against us.  The result is the WIAC has to take on each other and the strongest of strong non conference opponents....while other conferences feast on low hanging fruit to fatten their records.  Ok I'm done... Except to say Good Luck to the WIAC this weekend.  BRING IT!

Boy, I can remember not so long ago (maybe it was) that before UWW DOMINATED the WIAC for 5 consecutive years and won their National Titles that the WIAC had a tragic playoff record considering their reputation as the best conference in DIII.  Maybe we should wait a few years and see if the other WIAC teams not named Whitewater start bringing home bronze and gold before we start climbing up on high horses.

What bothers me the most, is this place is going to turn into a ghost-town by the middle of November with Whitewater missing the postseason....

I'll still be here!  8-)
And I for one hope you will be here until December 15th!

Me too!  If we are all going to stick around for awhile after the Hawks' season is finished, it's the least oshfb can do to stick around a week or two after the Titans are done.  ;D
And nothing would make bleed happier than UWO taking an early exit!!!  It's that "attitude" that makes it easy for some around here to pull for anyone but Whitewater.  (No offense to guys like WarhawkDad and others who are jumping on the WIAC train and pulling for UWO to be succesful.)

That's been my point all along. Nobody was crying for the WIAC/Whitewater to move up to DII BEFORE Whitewater started winning.

I'll feel sorry for the ASC boards if Mary-Hardin Baylor ever goes on Stagg Bowl binge.

Like D-Train said he wasn't suggesting that but I know others have in the past.  Always considered that nonsense.  It was a great run by UWW and no reason why they can't load up again.  Best of luck!

Give Bleed a break, he always has hidden reasons for his comments. I'm sure he is a WIAC supporter.

As for UWO in playoffs, it seems this may be one of the toughest fields in a while.  Linfield, MHB, NCC, St Thomas and UWO are all excellent teams w good balance. It should be a very exciting playoff.

Yep. That's a consideration worth making, too. But if it makes it in unbeaten, UWO will be in a better position than a lot of those beaten-up WIAC teams who were sent on the road or had mid-bracket seeds and tough first-round opponents.

So, once a team knows it's out of the playoffs, what do they do for the balance of the season in terms of personnel?
Are wins and losses important?
Does a team now have to think about finding a balance between letting seniors get as many plays in their last games and young players getting valuable minutes?

Will UWO fans take over the WIAC board?

These questions are good for you non UWW WIAC people- like the Oshkosh fans that act like your entitled to the throne.  smile.

In my opinion, winning is still the most important thing.  I think some of the developing has been occurring as a result of the onslaught of injuries. I do think there will be more giving players experience as well, but this team needs a win!  In spite of UW-W's success and expectations, 7-3 is still much better than 5-5!

I think at this point UWWs focus is to regain momentum the remaining two games of the season. Carrying a strong finish into the offseason strength/conditioning program and spring ball will be a plus. Same will be said for potential recruits who are trying to determine if this is just a down season (my opinion) or a sign of things to come in the near future. I'm not sure how much "experimenting" is needed...young players need time to develop and the more the core/best players are on the field the more they can improve.

The only reason for WIAC respect.
Did you know before 2005 many considered the WIAC the home of the pasture playing beefy lineman who could be left in their high tops by just a little technique?

Then December 3rd of that year must have been quite a shock!  ;D

So much fun having you NWC/Linfield Cat fans coming over for a visit, D-Train, WC11, DC1 and D.O.C.  I have just been sharing with the guys how awesome our visit was there in 05! Wonderfully kind fans in the parking lot sharing food and drink with us, friendly folks everywhere from the hotels to the restaurants, etc.  It was an unforgettable game resulting in great mutual respect between the two programs.  I will support the UW-O Titans as far as they can go, first and foremost, but I love the Cats and their fans and they will also have my support!
