Janesville paper reports Levelle Coppage arrested.

How about "part two the rest of the story "  Paul ?

Very disappointing.  While a school cannot be responsible for choices their students make, this kind of publicity is not anything a program wants.  Coppage=Whitewater.
I was puzzled by one thing.  The UWW official stated that Coppage was transitioning to a full time student or some such verbage.  Are part time students eligible to play football?

I shouldn't speak for Paul without talking to him, but I think he may have meant Coppage is transitioning from being a student-athlete to being a student-only.  It's just a guess, but given he mentioned Coppage having a been a student-athlete in the previous sentence, it is plausible.

Very sad stuff for Levell.  UW-W will be fine. Hopefully, this will be a wake-up call for Levell.

I'm sure what desertcat1 means is half the people in Oregon carry a medical card for personal reasons and this would not be a story.  8-)

Possibly more bad news for WW athletics:

http://wnow.worldnow.com/story/19909347/sources-athlete-questioned-in-whitewater-beating-case

I know this is only preliminary and I don't want to point any fingers but I hope someone comes forward and sheds some light on this case.  If it is true the ironic part is Kedzie's dad used to play football for WW back in the 70's.

I'm missing the connection to WW athletics other than the victim's father played in the 1970's?
Sounded like the student questioned in the attack is/was a UWW student-athlete with some 'history':
"Online court records show the questioned student-athlete was cited and fined for disorderly conduct and underage drinking in 2008, and for possession of drug paraphernalia in 2009."

That's how I read it. Coppage has used all his athletic eligibility so he's a student only. For someone involved in sports their whole life, he has a lot more free time that it appears wasn't used wisely. I had heard that he was on still on campus taking classes.

First regional rankings are up:
http://www.d3blogs.com/d3football/2012/10/31/first-2012-ncaa-regional-rankings/

So with these now released what are the Odds of UWO getting a #1 seed?

The debate could be Oshkosh vs. Hobart, basically. Who deserves it more? And just because UWO is 2 in the west now doesn't mean it will stay that way. UST will get a boost if it beats Concordia-Moorhead.

UWO is a bus ride from several of the ranked schools in the North region. Would it make more sense to promote UWO than UST?

I don't think they will make the decision on the top four seeds based solely on the map like that. We'll know more next week when we see the results of UWO/UWSP and UST/Moorhead on each team's SOS.

Hopefully, the map will have nothing to do with it (maybe unrealistic). I know the NCAA has to keep expenses in control, but when it comes to the top seeds, going with the four best teams in the country produces the best brackets (IMO). Whether that is St. Thomas or UW-O, whichever one is deserving regardless of the map, is the one I would like to see them go with.

It's fine to create the "best brackets" for someone sitting at home watching games on their laptop. But, it's a 4 hour ride from UWO to UST. For fans of visiting teams, it makes it more difficult to attend the games. Especially for 2nd and 3rd round games, I think you'd want to make it easier for fans to attend the games. People may be willing to drive 3-4 hours for a game, but not 7-8.
