Hopefully, Pat doesn't mind my using this venue to promote my son's annual "Movember," fundraiser.  Our team, (he is the captain and yes, I am a Mo sista,) is growing mustaches for the month to raise awareness and funds for men's health issues such as testicular and prostrate cancer.  His way of playing it forward for all the support and love he received during his battle with TC. You can donate to the team as a whole or to an individual team member but that is just in name only.  All our proceeds go to Livestrong and the Prostrate Cancer Foundation. Please, consider joining and/or donating.
Thanks.

Kudos to emma for stating the difference between legal and "Good." Although some infractions are low on the scale of "Badness", we shouldn't celebrate the legalization of something, that, if everyone engaged in that "Legal" activity, would be harmful to the society.

Ya, I have trouble with this question. If legalized, how many people would begin to partake in the activity, who had not done so previously, because it's illegality was a deterrent?  No way to know but as I have always told my kids, "pot makes you stupid," and being a kid in the 60's and early 70's, I stand by that statement.  I shudder to think that we could make a change that could possibly increases the stupidity level of some in our society.  8-)

Very disappointing.  While a school cannot be responsible for choices their students make, this kind of publicity is not anything a program wants.

While I don't agree with this over simplification of UWW athletes, the UWW administration, for at least a short time, will have to work on a public perception problem that they are home to thieves, thugs, and druggies. Hopefully there won't be another incident and they can get this behind them.  We all know these type of things also happen in the general student population and those events aren't considered newsworthy.  Success comes with a cost.
Really?  We have over 10,000 students on campus and hundreds and hundreds of student-athletes.   The problems of one or two should, in no way, be allowed to cast a shadow over the vast majority of UWW students and athletes.  Don't make me start a google search about bad behavior regarding other schools and programs................. >:(

footballfan413:  Don't get your panties in a bunch.  We all agree on this matter.  Read what was written.

I'm going to get right to it on this one.  Not used to 413 being treated like this on this board and I'm not liking it. IMHO you owe 413 an apology Warthog.  >:(

Hey folks as much as I just love the legalization debate raging on a discussion board dedicated to WIAC football can we please get back on track. UWO should be able to roll the next 2 weeks but when the playoffs start clearly things are going to get tougher. Is there anything you all have seen that might hurt the Titans come playoff time?

Fred Falcon: Thanks for soliciting my views on this weekend's LC-RF game. It should be a good one. I think that '02 Warhawk did a good job of summaring the game on his fine WIAC Blog. As I'm sure you know, the blog is a handy tool for staying on top of the conference action. To answer your question directly, I think the Falcons have a good chance to win the game. We have had a number of injuries among the skill players and are down to our third string RB, though Dillon Bean is not without talent. In addition, the place kicking has been an issue, which could be decisive in what should be a low-scoring game. It sounds as if the Falcons are making progress, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Having said all that, I'll take the Eagles to pull out a 14-13 win. I can't help it. I may or may not make the game, but wish you and yours the best.

I just made an update to the UWRF/UWL preview in my blog

WIAC Matchups

Bean will not be starting (ankle), so that makes true freshman Jake Gundlach the starting running back for Saturday. UWL is no down to its fourth-string RB.

Typically, option/run heavy teams don't make a deep playoff run. Balanced teams like Whitewater (not this year  :'( ), Mount Union, Linfield, and possibly Wesley always seem to fair better because they have a more balanced attack.

However, Oshkosh might be an exception because they are an option team that has a dangerous passing attack....which has been balancing out their offense very nicely. The viable threat of a pass is something that's not typically seen from option teams, that's why others have trouble in the playoffs (i.e. past Mary-Harden Baylor teams, Salisbury, and other run heavy programs).

I think bleedpurple and FF413 would have responded to "Warty" that way regardless of UWW's record.

Interesting tweet from Keith:

@D3Keith Nate Wara is a great choice for the Gagliardi. He's thrown 149 passes without an interception.

I suppose if his off-field credentials are up to par, we would be a great candidate.

This is not good news for the Eagles at all.  I'm sure Gundlach is a fine player, but rarely are true freshman ready to play and I wouldn't expect much out of one.

This has been a tough middle to end of the year for the Eagles.  In years past they have been beaten up with injuries to the lines which has made it pretty tough to be successful.  This year is the opposite with their best skill position players out with injuries for multiple games if not the entire season.  Bilderback, Hertrampf and now Stan have all missed games and are players the Eagles have counted on.  Someone new needs to step up against RF if they are going to win.

To be clear that was a tweet originally TO Keith from the UWO athletic department that he retweeted. Keith did also say Wara is his front runner in the column posted today and did respond to the tweet basically saying the same thing you are, for Wara it comes down to the community involvement. BTW that element should be pretty good, the team regularly helps at the food pantry, visits to veterans hospitals and with clothing drives and things of that nature so Wara should have his bases covered in that respect as well.
